This is just like bendgate. A storm in a teacup.

Well given that is a lower selling AT&T exclusive, then probably. But falsely advertising a $800 phone, or not making sure quality is up to compliance, is something that Samsung should be called out on. They are lucky this is not the case with the standard S7s. Or it would be a much bigger deal.

Going to be on top and the most expensive, going to be in the spotlight of scrutiny (deservedly so).

Has anyone called this "watergate" yet? Or are gates in the mobile space only an Apple thing? :D

Also, some Canadians got the July update today, unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. Anyone have a changelog handy?

Well it is a different form factor. My guess is that gimmicky "SOS" button or whatever it is called that AT&T insisted on having in the phone is the source of the bad water seal.

What's a fair price to pay for a new S7 in Black T-Mobile branded? $525? Or should I wait another 2-4 weeks to see if the price will drop once the Note 7 comes out?

Not sure about a fair price but the price is not going to drop. Why? Because the Note 7 is a phablet size and the other is a normal size.

Was about to buy today an S7 for 400€ but decided not to for one main reason: the 4:3 aspect ratio for the pictures it takes. I really really prefer 16:9, like in the S6. I hate 4:3 for pictures, so I guess I'll wait for another device with the same aspect ratio than the S6. Everything just feels cramped on 4:3, and I do take a lot of landscape pictures.

You can still shoot 16:9 photos. They're just cropped to 9.1 MP. Still look great for landscapes unless you're really pixel peeping.

Oh well mistakes can happen. The important thing is that Samsung have addressed the issue and consumers are going to have their devices replaced.

Oh yes, mistakes can happen. Like the one where @jamezr and others here felt it was necessary to mock @I7guy consistently insisting that there was no way his precious Samsung could make a mistake in waterproofing the S7 Active. He argued up and down that Consumer Reports had to be wrong. It was impossible there could be a manufacturing flaw. There were 100s of videos on youtube he could never link me.

Well, turns out the iPhone 6S, or really any other phone, was just as water resistant as the Galaxy S7 Active.

Honestly, you guys owe him an apology. They way you were trying to get him to take his iPhone is a pool was disgusting.

No the issue was 17guy was insisting that the iPhone 6S was water resistant and Samsung had copied them by making the S7/S7 edge water resistant!!

OK fair enough, if it was a copying argument, that is stupid then. I thought it was over the validity of the CR testing. I guess I lost track of jamezr/I7 bickering over defending Samsung/Apple.

Still stupid to coerce someone to put their phone in water.... I don't care if it supposed to be water resistant or not. There are always flaws in manufacturing as we have seen. Water resistance is for accident protection, not usage.

It was the former not the latter. But still doesn't change the fact the 6s was water resistant. My electric shaver is washed under water but I'm not going swimming g with that either.

No it was the former, but that doesn't mean the latter wasn't true. It was me being captain obvious.

What mouthwatering featurings? That statement puzzles me as I dont drool over phones.

6s had water resistance before Samsung copied it. 5s had Touch ID, Samsung scrambled. 5s had 64 bit Samsung scrambled. To name one or two. I'm sure I can find others. Your turn.:D

So on the context of the conversation, I made a fair statement. Right? Talking about what features are in what phone and when.

Well even if we agree that the 6S is water resistant, samsung had the feature on their phones before Apple did.

I think it just goes to show that if you are going to drive Water Resistance as a marketing FEATURE, you better be damn sure it works. Because people are going to shower and swim with it.

I think it is far smarter to make a phone durable to water damage, but not make a big advertisement campaigns about it for warranty purposes. Just make it more durable for the consumer, but don't tempt them to push it.

That or make it truly waterproof.

There were cases of 5 Lumia 920s which were working despite being buried under ice and in some cases below water. So that means its safe to say that Lumia 920 is ice proof and water proof right?

I dunno, that's your claim not mine.
Apple does not advertise 6s as water resistant but you claim it is because it does survive under water. So by that logic any phone which survives under water is waterproof even if the company does not advertise as such
