Apple does not advertise 6s as water resistant but you claim it is because it does survive under water. So by that logic any phone which survives under water is waterproof even if the company does not advertise as such

If your source is youtube videos, it is also oven proof and hammer proof:

If a youtube video proves it, then it must be true

You said water proof. Not even the s7 is water proof and Samsung will not honor the warranty on a water damaged phone. Shows how much faith they have in their "water resistance"? Right?

1.5 meters for half an hour is hardly water proof. Resistance? Yes, it will be handy if you drop in some pool wasted or go swimming, but since for years it has not been an issue for people i have no idea what would be return of investment for this feature.

I welcome the feature because the iPhone is by nature slippery and if I drop it in a puddle it's done for unlike the S7

This is an extended warranty that you have to pay for. Like insurance. The standard warranty does not cover water damage or broken screens only manufacturing defects.

EXACTLY. Also that extended warranty you can not purchase in majority of the countries, you get just your bog standard hardware warranty. Much like HTC's 'uh oh' warranty is not available in 95% of the world either.

This was very unexpected of me, but I purchased a S7 Edge (Titanium). I was NOT even in the market for a new phone...I had the S6 for a couple of days, but the battery life was bad. I hope it's improved with the S7...because it was definitely an impulse purchase, with no research done.

"While the Galaxy S7 is water-resistant, Samsung’s warranty protects against water damage, broken screens, and general device failure. Covering almost any situation"
That's the extended warranty, which you pay for. Try again.

If you drop the s7 it will shatter unlike the 6s.

This was a friends 6S that she dropped onto the tiled floor at our job. 6S will shatter just as easy as the S7.

Actually not. While there is no guarantee any phone won't shatter, a very entertaining YouTube video(since that's the gold standard lately) showing a professional drop test between the 6s and s7. 6s screen was shattered but workable s7 was dead. That's the difference. You can find it if you want to "be set free from the truth".:D

"Professional drop test" makes me smile..

Anyone catch this http://m.pocketnow.com/2016/07/22/apple-oppo-vivo-samsung-smartphone-sales-q2

Maybe we can cut back on all the Apple doom in here and on the main page. I think the takeaway is though that Sammy needs to look east to see it's competition and not west. They're going to have to beat the Chinese the way that Apple beats them namely they need to ask themselves why people buy Samsung and accentuate that. What does Samsung make that sets them apart form all the other metal and GG phones coming from China?

Okay.My bad.Even so if they actually covered it under warranty you would have people show up purposely using it in extreme deep sea diving claiming water damage. Some of the ppl I know actually bought Applecare+ and when they dropped their phone and dented the body, they purposely dropped it to ruin it and get a replacement under accidental damage

And no matter how much you try to deflect and say water proofing is unnecessary I am sure you guys will be singing a completely different tune when Apple "invents" the feature in iPhone 8

If you drop the s7 it will shatter unlike the 6s.

This is quite funny because theres videos showing the 6S shattering first and then the S7 and vice versa.
And in my personal experience where I actually have a hands on with the S6 Edge at my internship,I have dropped both my iPhone 6 and the S6 Edge and not one of them shattered but my iPhone got a dent in the lower corner while the S6 was unscathed for a longer period

To be fair, people abused AppleCare and that is maybe why today there seems to be a policy shift.

As far as the drop tests, the video I've referenced is
you can watch it here if you are interested.

This as scientific as it can get. In real world of curse all depends on how exactly your phone landed, but all things being equal all glass body will lose.

Oh well mistakes can happen. The important thing is that Samsung have addressed the issue and consumers are going to have their devices replaced.
Exactly....Samsung will replace the water damaged devices. I don't think you will see Apple doing that for water damaged iphones.

You missed a salient point. They(Samsung) are doing that because they screwed up, not out of any largesse on their part. So it turns out CR was right after all.

And Samsung will still not honor the warranty on any water-damaged phone, unless you pay for it.
