How about those from WhatsApp forwarded photos? Which sd card is best?

SD cards are cheap, but don't skrimp here just for the sake of it.

You will hear a lot of talk about class 10 cards. The class 10 part is important but only tells you 1/2 of the story.

Most class 10 cards are U1 rated, especially cheap, large capacity ones.

These are ok, but have generally slow read and write speeds. They are NOT suitable for 4K video recording,

For best results and to maximise fluidity & speed of your device try to buy a class 10 U3 rated card. They are more expensive but importantly their read and write speeds are vastly superior and 4K video poses no issue here.

The other advice is to buy ONLY from reliable sellers. There are so many FAKE SD cards out there. They may tell you they are fast or large capacity but are simply Chinese fakes being sold under price compared to the real deal and people think they are getting a bargain price when the reality is they are not.

Online buy from Amazon supplied direct and not for a marketplace seller or from EBay.

I've always used the sandisk ones. However I've also heard good things about the Samsung Evo ones too.

Videos forwarded from what's app are automatically stored in your gallery - At least that used to be the case. It's been a while since I used a Samsung phone. If your storage is set to SD card then they should be stored there.

Great post. I've had a few fail on me and I suspect they were fakes as they were bought from third party sellers on Amazon. Since then I've always bought from Amazon direct/ HMV/ PC world and I've had no issues.

I'm using this one at the moment

Turns out my S7 was locked to Metro PCS. I asked the seller if it can work for T-Mobile. It doesn't. I asked to see if I can return the item because I am not paying for an unlock code. T-Mobile said I should get one via email in 48 hrs. I don't think it will work though. I am really disappointed since I expected it to work with my SIM.

Are unlock codes expensive there ?

Here they are very cheap $15-20 kind of price range. The hassle you face otherwise could be more trouble than paying to get the unlock and once unlocked flash the official T-Mobile firmware in Odin as that wouldn't affect warranty or Knox and likely give you the extras like wifi calling that are t-mobile exclusive.

Not too bad price wise, but I am better off just returning the phone because rather not patch work something. I prefer either to have T-Mobile or nothing at all, which is why I don't have an Exynos processor in my S7. I'll see if an unlock code does the job. I can deal with slower updates. I just want VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, Band 12 LTE, and Advanced Messaging.

Hopefully you have no trouble returning it. It's just a bit of a PITA to have to do so. Keep us posted on the outcome :) and best of luck.

Thanks and will do. Might end up going for a ZTE Axon instead worst case scenario. Really want to enjoy the S7 though.

Wifi calling for you guys! http://www.sammobile.com/2016/07/27...galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge-arrives-at-last/ I'm sure my Note 5 will get it in 6 months, if ever.
One of the reason I got an att branded Galaxy s7 (besides $200 Best Buy gift card for trade in any junk post paid smartphone). Was the carrier support for wifi calling.

I work in hospital where sprint has its own towers (hospital does give me cheap sprint koycera keyboard phone so I only use it in hospital). So Verizon T-Mobile att all suck inside the hospital walls

So wifi calling is almost a must. And buying an international unlocked s7 wouldn't have wifi calling with att.

ATT rep tells me the Note 5 will get wifi calling "soon", but then soon afterwards corrected me on the Note 7, saying it will be the Note 6. In other words my Note 5 will wait another 3-6 months.

There is no rhyme to when the US carriers "update" carrier branded Android devices. Verizon has had wifi calling on the S6 since December 2015 (but Verizon was the last US carrier to support wifi calling). And Verizon had wifi calling I believe enabled on the S7 at launch in March 2016.

I know Note 5 users were not happy waiting so long for the Marshmallow update that just occurred about 30 days ago in late June 2016. You figured Android 6.0 launched beginning of October on Nexus devices. Figure 3 months to get the software in with Touchwiz so the international Note 5 got marshmallow in late Feb 2016. But it took ATT till end of June 2016 to get android 6.0.

I spoke to a Best Buy Samsung rep and he didn't know anything. To be fair though, he did say that corporate will email them all after the Unpacked event (he didn't know the date even) with updated information on the Note 7. The rep also told me that it wasn't sure if the Note 7 will be called the Note 7, it might be called the Note 6.

I also held a S7E - actual device, non-display model - and oh my goodness, it was beautiful. I had originally gone to my local / non-Samsung store Best Buy and saw their fake demo of the S7E in gold and it was horrendously ugly. Went to the Samsung store Best Buy and the rep let me play with a S7E Gold (without it being attached to the security cable) and it was heaven.

In a perfect world. I would get the larger size Galaxy S7 edge just for its battery.

I am just not a big fan of the edge screens. Had the edge 6 plus for 30 day trial last fall.

I am in the operating room in scrubs removing things and the phone can fall out of my shirt pocket and there is just no great cases for edge screen phones.

Just a little heads up if you are using a device without the edge but want people edge features exactly as Samsung has created them GalaxyLabs app People Edge works great whatever your device.

Running it on my HTC 10 and will install on my S7 when it finally arrives.

Does the screen light up like the Edge?
[doublepost=1469893022][/doublepost]My S7 got unlocked. So far, it has most of the features I wanted from my carrier: VoLTE, HD Voice, Wi-Fi Calling, and Band 12 LTE. Missing out on the quicker updates (Metro sends mine right now). Also don't have Advanced Messaging. If I flash a T-Mobile ROM using ODIN, would it void my warranty?

Flashing an official firmware via ODIN should not effect the warranty as it does not trip KNOX - besides you can always flash back.

The People Edge app works ok, sadly no it doesn't do the screen light up, its merely an overlay / shortcut system - but doesn't do the missed notification the same either (at least on HTC 10), i'm still waiting for my S7 to arrive so it may work properly on that but can not confirm.

You just said it was a PITA, right? I would just need to back up my data, find the firmware, and flash it? I have to sit down and think if it is worth it.

Getting the official firmware from Sammobile's archives.

Yeah that's what I do.

Download official firmware via Sammobile

Odin 3.10 in Windows

Flash firmware making sure you follow the instructions

Once flashed I then do a cache partition wipe in recovery.

After its booted up to the welcome screen I turn off and go back into recovery

I then factory reset (in recovery) once more, and then wipe partition cache once more also.

By doing it twice it will guarantee your CID (model code) aligns with the new firmware and this will enable you to take OTA updates going forward.

If your CID and firmware are not aligned, you won't receive OTA updates.

---

So yeah it's a little fiddly but I've done it many times and never had issues.

:)

What about my warranty with a carrier? Just flash Metro PCS and take it to them? Wouldn't Samsung figure it out or since it's a "920T" since both use it and the CID matches up, it would be fine?

I imagine it might be different depending on the carrier, but if I were to flash an official firmware, would that allow me to get wifi calling? My carrier only allows it naturally for devices bought through them, even if I have their sim card installed. Looking for ways to activate it that don’t involve me making a stink about it over the phone.

You would likely have to flash the carrier specific firmware in that case.

Here warranty would be with Samsung and as long as you are on an official firmware and your Knox flag has not been triggered Warranty would be honoured regardless.

Ah okay, well, I am going to download the files in case of a rainy day when I need to switch over. For now, I got the stuff I wanted excluding faster updates. Can't really do much about patches and they're not such a big deal to bend over backwards. Android N will be behind so many phones, that I just will wait till May 2017 for it or something like that.

People have more problems with dropping phones on the floor, on the pavement. Percentage of situations where water is involved is negligible.

Yes okay i will give you that. Although the situation if the device is water resistant is negated. I lost an iPhone and an iPad to water damage before. You can say it was my fault and it may well have been but why would you not want a device to be water resistant?
