I can't get over the fact that Dutch T-Mobile just increased the price by €100 now that I can actually get it on Aug 8. Going to wait until September and see what happens. Hopefully my Z5 Compact and its 1 April security updates survive that long.

Welp, the last two days have been telling with the S7 so far. I think I made a huge mistake getting a Metro device and getting it unlocked. The signal quality has been tough to deal with, idk if it's my network or just the phone. Yesterday, calls with work were being wonky. Had to step out to just get a consistent signal which was weak. At work, dropped to HSPA+ and took like 2 minutes for a call to connect. At home, the phone cuts in and out under "cellular preferred" option for Wifi Calling. Very frustrated with having to use a home phone to get calls through, especially for work.

Phew, seems I've been just in time buying my S7 Edge at T-Mobile just 2.5 weeks ago.

How Samsung plans its phones
Ahead of the Galaxy Note 7 launch, here's how the S7 came to be

http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/1/12340294/samsung-product-planning-galaxy-s7-interview

A lot of this stuff makes a lot of sense. I like how Samsung go in these new directions like this. Sure, they annoy some people, but stacking up the interested people against those people, I'd say the decisions they make are pretty fair.

I ordered a replacement S7 and have to return my original one:

Thoughts on the one I just ordered?

Says used, but I think it's a refurb:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/182204577708?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

9/10 condition is used with either "like new" or "refurb" conditions.

I will save $60 over my last purchase, get about 10 months on a warranty with Samsung, T-Mobile updates and software.
Looks good. Hopefully you will have no issues :) :) Keep us posted when it arrives. I'm still awaiting my dual sim white S7. The importer says it is with the courier and should be here by Friday.

No I'm buying from an Irish reseller but it's coming in from Hong Kong. I'll simply flash the BTU (UK - Ireland) Samsung firmware when it arrives. Dual sim will still work and I'll be on the quicker updated firmware :)

The camera on the s7 edge is just awesome. Miles better than on my 6S plus. I took some pics of my son with my edge the other day and sent them to my dad who is a semi professional photographer. He actually thought they had been taken with a dslr!

So I just got my regular s7 yesterday, last night I was watching youtube in bed while wearing bluetooth headphones and fell asleep. I guess the phone fell between the mattress and head board, and kept streaming as autoplay was turned on. When I woke up this morning the phone was still streaming and extremely hot, like left in your car hot, hot enough there was a funny smell where it was touching the mattress, but not hot enough to burn you. So I immediately turned it off and let it cool. Turn it back on and it seems OK, but I have a few questions.

I know I left it streaming with the screen on and connected to Bluetooth, but shouldn't had it shut down automatically before getting that hot? Is it normal that it would have gotten that hot in that circumstance or is it a faulty unit? Is it possible something got damaged due to the heat, such as the water gaskets? thanks.

In theory, liquid cooling should make the phone not hot enough to fry eggs. You could try putting in water, but I wouldn't use water resistance unless as a safety net. Don't think the gaskets would take too much damage because Samsung has to have fail safes to protect internals to a certain extent.

The S6 edge that failed on me last year used to get hot but then it would reboot or freeze and not turn on at all. So it should be shutting down if it got that hot.

There is a heat threshold where the phone will shutdown. Your phone must not have reached that threshold.
I have had laptops and desktops overheat and shut down before with no adverse effects. Happened to my 6s+ once when I left it on the dash of my truck in the Arizona heat. It got very hot to the touch. I shut it down until it wasn't hot anymore and it worked as normal so far.

I dunno, the only time I've felt a phone that hot was when I left my iPhone 6 on the dash in the hot Florida sun, and it had shut itself down and I couldn't turn it on until I cooled it down. The S7 was still going strong, the screen brightness had actually turned itself up (don't know how that happened).

I think I'm just going to return it and get another Note 7 as my bogo to sell and keep my Note 5 as backup.

The wife's new pink S7 edge came yesterday. Its her first Android phone after being in the iPhone camp since the 3G days.

How do I get the thing to become USB mass storage enabled when connected to my Mac? I downloaded Android File Transfer but every time I open it it doesnt see the phone.

I'd like to find this out soon as I have a pre-order in for a Note 7 and will come up against the same "problem". Or, is there a better solution to syncing the S7 to my Mac?

Do you have Kies (or Smart Switch) installed on your Mac ? If so Kies (or Smart Switch) and Android File Transfer are not compatible. You will need to uninstall Kies (or Smart Switch) completely.

It (android file transfer) should then automatically work (launch and show you the contents) when you plug your s7 into the Mac via microUSB cable.

As for better syncing solutions - you could use iSyncr for syncing iTunes music between Mac and mobile.

As for photos you could use Google Photos, set photos to autobackup and then access them on your Mac via photos.google.com

Try SmartSwitch. I use it to transfer on my Mac all the time. :)
