I thought this was just for the 1st initial sync? ie. take the last back up of my iPhone and copy contents (As much as possible) onto the new phone?

So I've been back and forth on this and thought I'd ask your all thoughts so I can decide what I want to do.
So right now AT&T has a bogo with pre-order of the note 7 (actually it's buy one and get $700 credit over 2 years to purchase another Samsung phone) right now I'm looking at 2 options:
Option 1: use the bogo for the S7. The credit would completely cover the price of the S7. I would then sell my Note 5 to help cover the cost of the Note 7, so if I can get around $400 for the note 5 I would be paying around $500 for both the note 7 and s7. And the s7 would offer a change of pace if I want something smaller.
Option 2: use the bogo on an additional note 7 and sell it and keep my Note 5 as backup. Advantages are I should be able to sell and cover the cost of one of the note 7, while the credit will bring the cost of the other to around $200 spread over 2 years. And if something were to happen to my Note 7, I would have my Note 5 to fall back on. But in this case I would never use my Note 5 unless something were to happen to my Note 7, so it would just end up in a drawer, with the S7 I would switch to it once in a while as change of pace (so it wouldn't be sitting in drawer the whole time), but if something were to happen to my Note 7 I would prefer the Note 5 as fallback.
So what are all your thoughts? Thanks.
It used to be we just had our plan price which was always the same and then we had to buy our own phone, either full price or subsidized under contract. How are phones subsidised in the USA. It seems you have to pay your tarrif/plan and then the extra for the phone is that right ? Here we have different monthly tarrifs and then an initial cost of handset which varies in price dependent on your monthly tarrifs. The S7E for example was €549 initial payment and then €35 for 24 months, alternativly €399-449 initial followed by a €60 tarrifs for 24 months.
The Note 7 will likely be €599 initial and €35 for 24 months on the cheapest Bill pay plan on Vodafone here.

Now they give us a discount if we are not under contract on our plan, but phone is no longer subsidized, we either pay full price up front or get an installment plan and pay for the phone over 18-30 months. With the option of trading our phone in for a new one once we've made a certain amount of payments and starting the payment plan again on the new phone.
Its paying off what you owe and then financing the new phone, so it's basically you selling your phone for however much you still owe to zero out the balance so you can finance another. I find with android phones it's an ok deal, but with the iPhone your better off selling it to payoff you balance with some left over and then financing the new one.Is that trading in your phone the Jump On Demand that folks post about here ? Or is that merely paying off what you owe / financed and getting another ?
For those s7 users for months now are there any lag /slowdown or excessive battery drain?
My S7 has heating issues over the last several hrs. I turn the device off, wipe the cache partition, uninstalled apps I downloaded today, etc. All I had were Night Shift like apps and changed my theme to a Team USA one. I hope the "bug" goes away. I don't think it's a wake lock either. The battery is optimized for each app. I didn't notice anything abnormal about the CPU being occupied via battery history. Any advice?

My S7 edge is running just like new so far no issues with battery or software. For those s7 users for months now are there any lag /slowdown or excessive battery drain?
It does sound like a possible fault, has it began rebooting or shutting itself down ?
When my S6 Edge began doing this it turned out it was the GPU that had a fault and it had to be eventually replaced (they ended up replacing pretty much the entire internals in the end).
The only last shot you have would be a factory restore and if the device is still misbehaving after a clean factory restore, then you need to make a warranty claim.
Frig. You are having a streak of bad luck Hope you get it sorted one way or the otherWelp, my worst fear is realized with the S7. Safe Mode, Factory Data resets didn't do anything. What the device does is have heat near the power button from minimal usage and then gets even hotter with extended usage. I stop before it can start having more heat issues. I am returning it to the seller. I can get an exchange, but it turns out that there is no coverage with my carrier, T-Mobile. So time to either get a HTC 10, OP3, or ZTE Axon? I really love the S7, just absolute bad luck. I am considering giving the S7 one last shot though.
That's the exact same thing happening with my S7. What sucks is AT&T says they can't exchange it, only option is to go through warrantee or return for a different phone, but I've really enjoyed this smaller handset. They told me at the warrantee center I could request a new one from their stock, but it's up to them if they replace it with a new one or with a warrantee unit.Welp, my worst fear is realized with the S7. Looking good. I always like the look of weight handsets, but I always find the weight borders (or any colored border) distracting. Here you go
How minimal ?
My 2016 white collection (excluding my my black SE which took the photos). Swapped my 6S+ down to a 6S and enjoying these smaller devices
Surprisingly no I'm not missing a phablet at all. Indeed when I've been using my SE the HTC 10 feels ginormous.Looking good. I always like the look of weight handsets, but I always find the weight borders (or any colored border) distracting.
Are you missing having a phablet? I always enjoy using a small phone, but ultimately miss having a larger screen that I end up going back.

Also, I would have to replicate the problem with them and they would have to deem it faulty, which is going to be tough.

Not sure, at this point I'm not sure if that's normal or not. Haven't heard many complain about over heating and I know my S7 edge never ran that hot. But the guys at AT&T seemed insistent that was normal as long as the phone didn't shut itself down and there was no battery drain, and I also remember Samsung had to use liquid cooling for the phone, so maybe with the smaller form factor it's suppose to run hot?So sgoul
Should I get another S7? It's in like new condition, but only has Samsung warranty and nothing with T-Mobile. Samsung requires repairs all the time. It's another risk again. Prefer the S7, but I can't find a retailer deal for the S7 below $500.
