Korean version of the S7 may lose the "Samsung" logo on front: http://www.androidauthority.com/log...-may-go-without-samsung-logo-on-front-675600/

This leads me to believe the Samsung logo is there in the US versions so people don't confuse it with the iPhone.

Thanks, Apple!

/sarcasm, sort of.

Wait these things are 700 and 800 dollars?? Holy efff.... yeah I'll stick with my 6p for like half the price. But the hype was fun.

There were rumors that this year's Galaxy S's would be cheaper. Too bad it didn't come true.

These prices, though, are fairly typical. They're not very different from last year's S6 prices when they first came out.

And honestly, for the technology and features you're getting, it doesn't seem outrageous to me. I'd love for it to be more affordable, but it does feel like you're getting a premium handset.

I can't say the same for other premium prices out there (Apple, Sony...).

Yeah I just looked at that, I didn't realize it was that much least year too. At some point, the upgrades are just not worth the price.

Poor Canadians:

So the 32Gb S7 Edge is $779, compare that to the 32GB Nexus 6P for $499,that's a big difference in price. Yes the Samsung has some great features, like huge battery, waterproof, beautiful high end design, best camera and best display.

But...is that worth 50% higher price than Google's premium top phone from last Fall ?

There lies a big issue. Is it worth that premium over other mid priced android phones? I'm sure many will think so but there will be many who don't. If it's like the past though just wait a month or two and there might be a discount given.

Many people will buy these phones on a payment plan, and will only look at the galaxys and iPhones; so in that regard the prices won't hamper them as much. I wish it would, and the prices would be forced down...but I don't see that happening soon.

The 6p a great phone, and the price is a huge plus. Bit outside of Google fi, the Nexus is not available on a payment plan. That makes it too expensive for some. There nexus still remain a niche device until it's broadly available in brick and motor stores.

It's interesting that Samsung paved the way for large phones, but are now designing them so well that they're getting smaller.

S7 Edge is smaller than even their Note 5, and noticeably smaller than the 6P, the 6S+, and the new G5.

In fact, it's not even much bigger than the Nexus 5X. It's actually the same width and just about the same thickness. It's only slightly taller.

I have no doubt Apple will design something nice with the iPhone 7. But at this point in time, the S7 Edge really is setting the bar for large phones.
The S7 Edge makes the 6s Plus look like an iPad 4 in a comparison between it and the iPad Air!

One thing I'll have to test for sure is one handed gesture typing on the s7 edge.

I can't imagine it being easy...

Yeah, the iPhone looks extremely dated compared to the S7 Edge. The small bezels and curved glass just give the Edge a modern look. The iPhone still looks like a blown up iPhone 4.
To be fair, the bezel-size was reduced in the iPhone 5, but never again since then.

But when comparing the S7 Edge and the 6s Plus, you're absolutely correct. There's just no comparison. The iPhone 7 could change that, but we'll have to wait and see.

Definitely things to consider.

I would also add to your list though that the s7 edge is far more ergonomic and smaller than the 6p.

Also it's more like 35% more in price. Not 50%. :p

32 GB Nexus 6P is $499 add 50% to that and your at $748, and the 32GB S7 Edge is selling for $779. So it's actually more than 50% difference in price.

I'm out of the running for the Edge at that price, I buy outright and will not go that high since I have plenty of other smartphones.

I'm hoping to see one tomorrow, it is the first day of preorder at BB so I'll stop by and see if a BB mobile manager may be carrying one around or a Samsung manager shows up with one. The big store isn't far so I'm not going way out of my way anyway, nor for the mobile store. It is quite easy to spend money where I live, the highway is lined with all kinds of retail stores.

B&H Photo have the unlocked S7/Edge listed on their website. Don't know when they'll get it though. They eventually get the international versions, but who knows what storage size or when they'll get that too.

Oh shoot you're right. I misread your original post. My mistake.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Ok, well seeing as Sony have now lost the plot, I think to come back to Android I will get a Galaxy S7 when the price drops in a month or two. In the UK it will come with the Snap Dragon 820 too which is cool. I like what it is offering, and I will have to put up with the size as it's the smallest high end phone with new tech.

Can you have on screen back buttons on the Galaxy phone? It was something that annoyed me with the Note 5 I had with the back button at the bottom but couldn't remember if it offered on screen buttons too?

You can definitely get on screen buttons easily if you root, just by editing a text file. Not sure about unrooted. Can also disable the capacitive buttons this way too. Not sure about disabling the back light on the capacitive buttons though. My gs4 needed an app for that.. whatever modification it made had to be done after every reboot so someone wrote an app on xda, touchwiz may have a built in option though

The best thing Samsung has done is to get rid of the chrome home button and make it more flat. Still not sure which smartphone to get. It's either the much cheaper €400,- euro Nubia Z9 or the black Galaxy S7 edge.

Bring on the screen finger print scanner and we'll lose the hardware home button.

Samsung should be the first to do it.

If they keep the capacitive buttons yes, otherwise no option. I won't buy any smartphone with on-screen buttons. I hate them.

That phone looks exactly like one of those thin iPhone 6 concepts that had the iPhone 5 style to it.

With the S6, it depended which version of the phone you had. Some were able to turn it off in settings, others had to download an app to do it.
