At the same token, how much intense work do you do on your phone? I hardly clear out my RAM on my iPhone. But I am fine with 8-10 apps in the background. Gaming will be tough, but curious to see the day 1 firmware update having some changes. I mean you could try to get the GS7E risk free on a return period of 14 days or 30 days.

Sadly there is no risk free here as I would be buying from Amazon Germany and shipping to Ireland. It wont be released in Ireland till April and then will be on carrier bill pay / subsidised rather than unlocked/unbranded. The only consolation is that resale value would be retained for a few weeks after launch before it launched in Ireland, but still chance of losing € on it.

As I mention in other posts above, 10 apps & sometimes 12 would be a regular pattern of apps for me. If it could handle 10 without lots of refreshing and it would be workable for me. I don't game on my mobiles.

It's not even about intense work. Touchwiz devices seem to bog down a bit with too much thrown at them, at least my Note 5 does. It's not a deal breaker and not super noticeable, but you do notice it coming from an iPhone. Out of habit I regularly close all running apps maybe 3 or 4 times a day to keep it smooth, and clear my cache completely once a week or so.

That's concerning how the EU standard of 2 yr warranties exists yet there isn't much protecting people from bad purchases in the initial window that they may make them in. But what constitutes as normal for you is because of work or just because you happen to be using your phone more than the avg person? Too bad Knox exists because you would've been able to shut down the TW stock resource hogging and gone to a custom ROM.

You can get an auto cache cleaner. I had an app that worked every 90 minutes. Well, put it this way, iOS has had to deal with less available resources, so their apps might run w/ .1 GB of RAM whereas like TW apps might want .3/.4 on their own individually in addition to what you have in the background. I am borrowing my dad's Note 5 for a few days, so I will try to run the iPhone and Note 5 through their paces to understand how bad the RAM management is on that phone and then compare it to the S7 Edge at Best Buy.

Oh nice, any cache cleaner you suggest? I think I used to use CW cleaner back in the day. Are those as thorough as a complete cache partition wipe from safe mode?

That for would be the ideal scenario.

Give me stock android on it, but give me the option of downloading Samsung camera app and even TW launcher as apps on the play-store...

That would be nirvana

I would be back on android so fast. I don't normally buy a new phone every year, but the excellent support on the GS4 GPE model made it feel like I got a new phone every major update. 4.2.2 -> 4.3 -> 4.4 -> 5.0/5.1 Performance improved every time IMO and still supported by monthly security patches while I believe even the newer GS5 is abandoned

I'm so afraid to buy a touchwiz device because it feels old and neglected after the first major update. Most of you guys dont care about that because the phone will be long gone after a year :p

App Cache Cleaner, it has green circular arrow. Not that I am aware of. The complete cache partition wipe isn't something I use regularly. If you have to do that regularly for the Galaxy, that is extremely concerning.

I've only felt I had to do the complete cache wipe once, my Note 5 was just super laggy and the cache wipe helped tremendously. I wouldn't doubt my issue was caused by an app I installed or something. But other than that one time it's probably overkill on my end.

Yeah my usage is a mixture of work apps and task managing such as calendar, keep and todoist which are permanent fixtures, alongside messaging apps such as regular messaging and hangouts & FB messenger - often clients contact me this way as well as a lot of emailing. I actually don't use web browser much at all tbh, but then there are apps like tapatalk, Facebook, Twitter etc.. Oh and Tunein Radio and Google Play Music which get sent to my chrome cast whilst I work at my desk too ... I guess I am a heavy user than most, though I don't actually game or do things like torrent ...

Do yourself a favor and clear out the FB app and use the browser site for now because FB is a huge resource hog. You might have to play around with alternatives for music too. If the channels are available on slacker or something, then you could use those apps to manage your RAM issues ever so slightly, but I am sure you have considered this because you seem tech savvy. That's all I can think of doing myself because there is so much you can do with TW without tripping Knox.

Current owner of the S6. And you're not wrong, the S6 is still very capable and great. In fact, I love my phone and do find it sort of sad/hard to give it up.

But the S7 is shaping up to be the S6 perfected... which is why it's tempting to me. Plus, the S7 Edge is the first time I'm seriously considering a "large" device. So, it'd be a pretty great upgrade even from the S6.

Luckily, I just left the Tmo store able to resist pre-ordering. ;)
I'm going to wait a few months before buying an S7. Sure I won't get the VR thing for free but I'm not interested in any of that anyways. I just want to wait till people start using the phone before I buy one.

Last year, I wanted an S6 but changed my mind after people started using theirs. The battery life steered me away.

Once I hear how people are getting along with it and when I can readily order one on the T-Mobile site and have it overnighted, I'll get one.

I have no issues with FB on any of my other devices, it's made no perceivable difference on my 6P / Z5 / Moto X etc. It is a heavyish app (100-150mb ram usage normally) and I have used Metal (a spin off of Tinfoil) but it's just not the perfect solution. I manage a number of business Facebook pages for clients too and so Facebook and Facebook Pages Manager sadly aren't going anywhere for me.

I won't be changing music apps as I have my Google Play Music unlimited account and Google even removed the deactivation limits it enforces on my account because they could see i go through so many devices that I soon hit the deactivation limit multiple times. GPM is my go to app for all music now on iOS and Android.

Really though, I shouldn't need to have to ditch apps in order to eek out enough ram performance from any mobile device in 2016, especially as my 2015 handsets current are handling them without issue. If I had to find workarounds it would leave me more frustrated than the issue in the first instance and just remind me the issue exists in the first instance. So yeah that's not really a workable solution for me.

I'm holding onto hope that the Erica Griffin video earlier, the issue arises after she launched the game. I would love to know if she had launched a couple of non games instead would they have stayed in memory. If they did - that would be workable for me. I really want the 7 Edge, I do find it aesthetically the best mobile device out there, so yeah hence the inner conflict Samsung now force upon me :)

A little off topic advise for anyone planning on using the Gear VR .... I would highly recommend NOT disabling the FB app. You'll be unable to install the Oculus app and any of the apps within, including updates. It took me an hour of browsing to figure that out when I first got mines.

S6 vs S7 Edge comparison: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-edge-vs-Galaxy-S6-first-look-comparison_id78706

As I said, really not that much bigger in size!

We wouldn't mince words here - if you are mulling the jump from an S6 to the new Galaxy S7 edge, we would wholeheartedly support you, even with these rather early and preliminary impressions we have from Samsung's newest phone with flexible display. Not only is it almost as comfortable to grip and operate with one hand as the S6, but it also offers a much larger screen real estate, an even faster camera, and something tells us the battery life will be much better, too, given the juicing capacity inside the S7 edge.

Add to these the expandable storage option and waterproof chassis, and the only deterrent to move would remain the price.

Fingers crossed that my own hands on experience will be similar.

DisplayMate analysis: Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge top the Note 5 for best performing smartphone display ever

http://www.zdnet.com/article/displa...op-the-note-5-for-best-performing-smartphone/

Top of its class again.

Sweet, now I'll actually use autobrightness.

The new brightness control functionality stores the brightness settings that you select for different ambient light levels. It learns when you move into these lighting environments and then adjusts to your settings and not those the manufacturer thinks is best for you.

Nothing brings me more joy (not sure if that is the right word) then reading the reaction when these articles hit macrumors front page. This guys actually refuted that is really not that big of a deal because he doesn't look at his iPhone display. lol
