I appreciate the sentiment. Its sometimes surprising how such things, even from "strangers" (though I feel like I know some of you) on online forums help.

Anyway, I am pretty pumped for this phone. We are reaching a point in mobile technology where the tech is surpassing the needs of the consumer. We are seeing mobile companies focus more and more on polish, and other ventures (such as VR). So I am hoping this phone offers the level of polish and functionality I have been looking for in a phone, but have yet to find (iOS or Android). The 6p came really close...but that was the store for several phones last year.
Agree on the 6S it was really close. The fingerprint scanner was Touched good and just as fast. Don't really like it on the back tough.

Yup, looks like your right. Just did a side by side with my Note 5 and 7edge.

So is the scaling adjustable? That's one of the aspects of TW I personally found quite irritating in the past...not whether you could adjust it per se but rather that everything was blown up so big. The scaling as shown in your photo for the S7 edge would drive me nuts.

Note 5 looks better. I don't mean screen technology, but the larger size and better DPI.

I'll wait for the Note 6, that will be a beast.

I think so too versus them both, I can live with that issue but I rather not keep making concessions when I have other smartphones.

On the sidelines for the time being.

Only by adb command with the possible risks of breaking apps or worse if you do something wrong, or by root and tweaking but at loss of warranty, Samsung pay and tripped Knox ..

Did anyone check if the larger scaling affected how much information the GPS apps show?
Based on my 6P vs my Moto Force which has similar differences in DPI scaling, it's around 15% of content in all apps regardless of maps, or other.

The only saving grace really is at least the S7 & Edge do not have on-screen buttons taking up even more.

The screen does, the whites look whiter, though that could be because I have my note set to photo mode and the display model was set to adaptive. What we're comparing though is the scaling, on the note you get a little more information on screen.
I do think Samsung give better scaling to the Notes, as they know that their users are more 'power users' than people who get the Galaxy S phones.

To those getting the S7 Edge, I look forward to your opinions, my closest mate is upgrading in April, he has always relied on me for which phone to get and I have told him the S7 Edge needs to be his next, his S5 served him very well, and I think the S7 Edge will be a great step up.

Would be great to hear from both S7 and S7 Edge guys how long the 1st charge lasts, how fast they charge and if they heat up while Fast Charging, how palm friendly the phones are and how fast the UI is.

I personally am waiting for the Note 6, just got a iPad Air 2 64GB LTE as my iPad 4 LTE was showing its age puny 16GB was finished, so no new phone until October, lol

Unless you got a good deal on the air, you might want to return it, Apple is supposedly going to release the iPad Air 3 in a month. Upgrade rumored to be the new a9x processor, 4 speakers, and Apple pencil support.

I think it might just be they're keeping the same scaling from the regular S7, which is why things look a little bigger because of the 5.5" screen vs the 5.1".

I personally do not think that is a bad thing. Like the difference between my 6s+ and my Note 5.
Eh, it's just a nitpick, personally I like to have as much info on screen as possible, the 6S Plus does a really good job of this.

Of course I just might be looking for things wrong so I don't feel too bad about missing out, must save my money for the Note 6 and 7 Plus this fall.

Am I the only one that thinks the S7 looks better? The screen looks better than the N5.
Nope I agree and if it means I have to put my glasses on less for casual viewing then that's fine by me

Just contacted Samsung here again, definitely confirmed no dual sims here at present despite what some shops seem to be advertising

Looks like I will have to wait a month or two till they arrive :( but maybe 64GB by then :)

That is great news that they may ship early. Only problem is I still haven't sorted out what android wear watch will be replacing the AW yet lol.

So...there's nothing that you can do to change the DPI at all?

unofficially - Yes, root - install xposed framework and apply a tweak or edit the build.prop yourself.

Or possibly flash an ADB command and change it - with risk.

But .. Officially - no. Just hope Samsung roll out an update that at least offers a DPI GUI scaling option sometime in the future, but realistically don't expect it.

Personally I'd prefer to see more screen estate when I have a device which is more than capable of displaying it, however likewise it's not a deal breaker for me.

Bad decision Sammy. I think for me this ultimately makes the Edge+ a better phone, for me at least.

The difference in scaling is huge between the 6s+ and note 5. The 6s+ looks like a little kids UI it's so large. I hate the smaller amount of info on the GPS screens, especially Waze where I like to see what hazards are around my trip at a glance. The other fear is that this will affect multi window and the amount of things you can fit. Not only the info from the app, but with increased scaling comes huge titlebars in widgets and such. Ughh not a good thing all around.

I guess it is personal preference. When I switch between my N5 and 6s+ I actually like the scaling on the 6s+.
