I'm about to do a battery test.just charged to 100% for the first time.I will use LTE and no WiFi but use power saving mode since the phones runs smooth and fast using power saver and want to see what I can get out of it that way first

Yeah, exactly. In my opinion, it's kind of useless without more functionality and opening it up to 3rd party/Google apps.

Darn shame. I will be turning it off when I get my Edge.
[doublepost=1457457108][/doublepost]For those who don't need insane read/write speeds, great deal on a 128GB Samsung microSD card. The Evo series (not EVO Plus).

Still not the one you want if you are looking to record in 4k and have fast read/write speeds for games like Asphalt 8 that are graphic intensive. If you don't see the number 3 inside a U, avoid. It should look like this:

That's the one I use. Yes it's expensive and only available in 64, but if you're looking for best performance from your SD even if just shooting regular photos you notice speed difference. If your processing with snapseed you will notice difference in saving file etc..

I'm official back ordered. I snoozed, I lose.

Maybe the first batch will be defective, and you'll get a phone made from the second batch that fixed the problem. Or maybe you'll get the courage to cancel that order and get a "superior" Note 6 in August instead (it's only a few months)

Can't believe it it's a Duos dual sim version :D

I had asked so many questions on this with negative feedback from Samsung ME etc I thought I would have to use the single till the dual came out in a couple of months

Steve, I've been waiting for confirmation about a dual sim model from UAE.

Did you buy from axiom or elsewhere? I've seen axiom have the dual in silver which would be my choice. If not, where might I find it to order online? Axiom's website model is F not FD so I'm a bit confused if they're selling the duos. From.ae just seem to have a single sim Exynos variant.

Also, does your phone have the Exynos or SD?

Oh and it's single sim and Micro SD only. There is no dual sim on this handset for those in Europe wondering.

That's a pity. I'm pondering whether to order one, and dual SIM would've done it for me. Well, still wondering whether I should get rid of my iPhone 6 Plus before iOS 10 possibly murders its 1GB performance.

Running on my AT&T edge for a few days now. Biggest perk over my 6s plus is ergonomics and the screen is beautiful but I'm still not quite sure. My battery is at 28% now with my admittedly heavy usage (4 hours SOT so far with 30 minutes streaming video during a commute, strong cell signal, mix of wifi and LTE). Nothing different than my 6s plus and on that I keep wifi and Bluetooth always on, would still be around 60%. Always on display off, doze seems to be kicking in okay, screen on auto seems to average around 50%. Also, anyone finding headphone volume to be 10-20% lower than on iPhone?

Camera is incredible.

We need to see if Samsung browser is more power efficient than chrome

So far I'm 25 min chrome use and 242mah consumption and 1 hour screen time with 105mah.chrome in 25 min used double what the screen used

Aggressive Ram test .....

So I started with 11 apps opened. After switching between them, I continued to open 2 more.

13 total apps jumping back and forth and no refreshing on me thank goodness.

Didn't push more apps, and I didn't try games as I don't game on it, but confident it won't be a problem for me this year thank heavens.

So yeah. Samsung have definitely improved in this area this year. :)
How's touch wiz?

Btw I'm still waiting for your YouTube channel haha

This looks to be an impressive device. Most reviews seemingly say go for the edge. Waiting for a price drop might be the best idea though. It's odd I've seen reviewers say it might be better to get the s6 for now but they've said that about the 6s also.

So always on display isn't a big deal? I know I like an all black look. It doesn't show notifications?

It's a nice phone no doubt. Wish it didn't show carrier branding on the back though. But that's nitpicking.

Oh, crud. I got this one. Says "1" in the U.

Is the difference big enough that I should switch? I don't plan to do a lot of 4K recording, however. I'm more concerned for pulling media (photos, music especially) off of it.

Bogo doesn't work that way. You get billed for the equipment and then get a credit. You have to keep service for the installment term. If you cancel, you're responsible for the entire cost of the phone.

It will also need it's own data plan.

I have a extra unlimited line I activated to take advantage of the 4 unlimited for $150 promo so this is perfect for me.

I got this card for free from best buy.is it ok ?
It's u 1 View attachment 620219
It is fine. You just can't record at 4k directly onto the card. I also wouldn't recommend putting games onto the SD card. Use your internal storage for games and after recording in 4k on internal storage, move those files over to the micro SD card and you'll be fine. Just a pia having to move big video files over.

Damnit! Just checked ups and they rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow. Jealous of all you guys who have had the phone for over a week already. I ordered it the 27th.

Always On Display does show notifications, but only for Samsung apps. It's very unfortunate. Also, you can't act on the notifications. Two big negatives for one of their main new feature.

Motorola does it the best.

You can't put games (or apps) onto the SD cards on the new galaxies (at least right now). Only media (pics/ music).

I'm thinking about turning it off. I see no real benefit to it and you're right, Motorola does this best.

Samsung seriously needs to ban Verizon from touching these phones. The more I read the latest reviews, my view is totally changed (and I think it is due to buggy pre-release software with initial impressions). The performance on this phone is outstanding. Mostly near perfect so far. But when is this kind of **** going to stop???

http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/8/11176606/walt-mossberg-samsung-galaxy-s7-smartphone-review

Speaking of Verizon, my test unit running on that carrier had a folder with eight of the carrier’s apps in it. The setup process also guided me to using Verizon’s messaging app rather than Samsung’s and a Verizon backup service. It even warned me I might lose important stuff if I didn’t sign up for the Verizon service. At one point, I received a gaudy, jarring full-screen Verizon ad urging me to send retail gift cards via messaging. I also received a notification urging me to let Verizon show me how to speed up visits to its stores.

You shouldn't be sold any sort of extras or bloat when paying $800 for a phone. Make a bloat version for cheaper possibly if the carriers want. But quit tarnishing a phone that truly is the best out there right now.

Yep. That is a really good card. Read/write speeds are very, very quick. I doubt you will ever get the theoretically listed 95/90mbps speeds on a mobile device, but you will def get the fastest speeds of any other micro SD card. And trust me, there is a HUGE speed burst from regular class 10 cards to UHS 3 cards!

I thought Droidlife proved you could? Can't find the article now, but it was recent...

http://www.droid-life.com/2016/03/01/galaxy-s7-system-storage-install-apps-sd/

From games to airline apps to Google Analytics – they all let me move them to my 200GB SD. If I ripped the SD card out, it took away all of those apps and said they were tied to the SD card. That’s somewhat surprising, since the Moto X Pure Edition doesn’t allow you to do that.
