Samsung seriously needs to ban Verizon from touching these phones. The more I read the latest reviews, my view is totally changed (and I think it is due to buggy pre-release software with initial impressions). The performance on this phone is outstanding. Mostly near perfect so far. But when is this kind of **** going to stop???

You shouldn't be sold any sort of extras or bloat when paying $800 for a phone. Make a bloat version for cheaper possibly if the carriers want. But quit tarnishing a phone that truly is the best out there right now.

I actually like all that Verizon stuff when first getting the phone. I went cold start and didn't connected old gs6 to gs7 to transfer data.

I used all the Verizon apps and services to get all my pictures, songs, movies texts and contacts blasted to the phone.I have all my texts from the past 90 days now.

After the 45 min of syncing and downloading everything I disable them but my phone is good to go without syncing it

Verizon sucks.

Luckily, Tmobile versions will be much kinder on the bloat.

And don't forget, Package Disabler Pro is worth the $1-2 (forget the price). It helps you disable the obvious ones you don't want. It would be easy to spot all the Verizon ones, at least. Disable and forget about them.

Having said that, Samsung REALLY should start exercising their weight and power on the carriers. I read somewhere that Samsung refuses to risk their relationship with the carriers, but I really think they can and should start flexing their muscle moving forward, especially if the S7 and Edge are runaway hits. They aren't as powerful as Apple is with their carrier relationships, but they probably can be. Of course, none of us know what's really happening with those deals, so who knows if any of what I'm saying is true or even a good idea. Maybe it's because they're technically an international brand and don't want to risk stepping on the toes of the carriers that -- whether we like it or not -- controls the gateways to the US market.

Don't forget, Verizon rejected the iPhone initially too when Apple said they refused to allow carrier bloatware. Verizon learned fast after the iPhone skyrocketed to fame and fortune. Samsung just doesn't have that same clout, but maybe they can...?

Or, even better, just start freakin' selling unlocked phones here in the US. I don't know why they won't especially when they have Samsung stores here in America. Is that another carrier mandate, that they don't sell unlocked devices? Who knows.

If Samsung can, they should really start flexing their muscle.

PS. I honestly don't care that much about bloatware. All phones have bloat to some degree. I'm saying all this mainly for software updates. That, to me, is the bigger crime here. And even though I'm more or less okay with delayed updates, I also recognize it's one of the biggest hurdles for non-Nexus Android devices and it should be addressed somehow.

Isn't there a hardware transfer device included to do this?

Yep. That is a really good card. Read/write speeds are very, very quick. I doubt you will ever get the theoretically listed 95/90mbps speeds on a mobile device, but you will def get the fastest speeds of any other micro SD card. And trust me, there is a HUGE speed burst from regular class 10 cards to UHS 3 cards!

Okay. Thanks for the info. I'll exchange it next chance I get.

Why bother I have unlimited data and did it in best buy while ordering the second phone.plus it's nice to have all your data on the cloud

In 30 min my phone was all backed up! Only Verizon bloat is there navigator and NFL mobile.all the other stuff is very usefull

This is what I disabled and was able to do it without root or package app.
Hangouts
Amazon Kindle
Amazon app store
Amazon music?
NFL mobile
Slacker radio
Verizon navigator
Caller name Id (don't pay for it)

That's it!

Glad that works for you, I never use the carrier apps. I use sms backup and restore to backup all my sms/mms meesages, all my photos and videos are in Google photos, my contacts are in gmail, pocketcasts for all my podcasts, and I use isync to sync up all my songs and movies from itunes. So at the store I have all my messages, contacts, podcasts, photos and videos and just sync up at home for my media.

You can't put games (or apps) onto the SD cards on the new galaxies (at least right now). Only media (pics/ music).

That's not true. You can put games and apps onto the SD card. I've put several apps and games on to storage.

Go to Setting, Applications, Applications Manager, select any app, tap storage, then you'll see the "Change" button.

The option is not avaliable to all apps.

However, I had issues with Need For Speed and Asphalt games not transfering the data onto the external storage even though the option to change to external exists. It would just create a duplicate data folder that's empty and not delete the original on the phone storage. If I delete the data folder from the phone storage and copy it's contents into the external folder, the game will ask to download the huge file again. Seems it can locate the external data folder. Might be an issue with games that download data AFTER the inital install.

Can you set it so that apps automatically download directly from Play Store to the microSD? I don't' want to have to go into every app and say "switch to external card" or whatever.

Ditto photos taken with the camera app? Can they save directly to the microSD?

MicroSD expansion is great only if it's hassle-free. I should only have to transfer stuff manually between onboard and external storage if and when I want to, and not because I have to.

Carphone Warehouse have come good (I think).

After ringing them earlier I now have another dispatch email for delivery tomorrow. VR is on the way after all :)

Play store ... Sadly not in the way Samsung has implemented it

Photos ... Yep that's no bother - you get the option to choose SD as default storage.

Galaxy S7 Edge owners, do you agree with what PA said WRT the Battery Life:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/The-Galaxy-S7-edge-stalls-delivers-middling-battery-longevity_id79011

As with most Samsungs, batt life is better than competitors but its not quite where I'd expect it to be when you consider the 3600mAh battery.

Will wait for the Exynos to be tested by both PA and GSMArena, seems the Snapdragon 820 may be a power hog.
Others will also have to chime in. I've been using it as oppose to my 6s plus for the last few days and while it's been better than my other android endeavors (6p, Note 5), it's still not able to handle my usual use with my 6s and seems to come closer to my 6s in terms of regular usage for me. Today it shut off at just over 5h SOT around 3pm which included 30 min LTE video streaming and regular browsing and email and Twitter (my normal usage) whereas my 6s plus with the same use comfortably gets me until 9pm or even later sometimes. The reviews have been glowing re: battery and I agree it's been solid compared to other android phones I've tried but still disappointing considering what a 3600mah battery should get me

I've used package disabler to get rid of the usual bloat and the device is going into doze sometimes but as a Manhattanite and doctor the lack of doze when moving around is a bit disappointing. If I happen to be at my desk it kicks in but not while moving.

Highest uses are Android OS followed by screen.

Do you have the SD version? Folks on XDA are trying to figure it out. Seems this SOC is having excessive Android OS drain (possibly over the Exynos)

Change your display resolution to 1080p if you want 20 hours of screen on time and compare equally with the iPhone. It is easy to get longer battery life when your display resolution is mediocre. Why do you think Apple only allows the 6s to have a 750p resolution. If they put a 1080p resolution on it with that tiny battery, you would be lucky to see 3 hours of SOT. Likewise, if the 6s+ had a 1440p screen, you would watch SOT plummet.

I easily get 6 hours of SOT in all LTE mode taking videos and hundreds of pics. I posted a screenshot a few pages back.

Good to know, doesn't particularly help with my observation though. If there were a downscaling mode that saved battery I'd be for it. I think 6 hours is reachable too, I'm already going over 5 hours and that's with some streaming too.

Anyway. Hope people are enjoying their new devices.

Steve, I've been waiting for confirmation about a dual sim model from UAE.

Did you buy from axiom or elsewhere? I've seen axiom have the dual in silver which would be my choice. If not, where might I find it to order online? Axiom's website model is F not FD so I'm a bit confused if they're selling the duos. From.ae just seem to have a single sim Exynos variant.

Also, does your phone have the Exynos or SD?

I was having a chat with someone on XDA on the same point, Only Axiom seem to have got it right and said they were dual sims all others in UAE said single even Samsung support email and 800 help line said they were single sim.

I was resided to getting a single sim so thrilled it was a dual, suspect all are dual here, but not confirmed as they all come from Sammy and are distributed by Eros, I suspect a few greys will come eventually, but not for now

Yes its an Exynos, it just says 64bit Octa Core on the box, I ordered it from Eros store as it's the closest to my house 2km :)

A9 Pro gets removable battery which is promising news for the future Samsung flagships because while S6 edge deserved its best smartphone of the year for 2015 from GSMA, Samsung also isolated its fanbase last year going for fashion over function. I thought Note 5 became the worst edition of the Note line.

If you saw my posts last year about S6 / S6 edge, I already felt S7 / S7 edge would correct some of the omissions and Samsung did. Maybe S8 will reset the design again and bring back removable battery. It isn't a big deal short-term (2-3 yr cycles), but it will long-term. Some people eventually do get attached to their smartphone, so a removable battery is a peace of mind knowing you can give it a fresh new heart while avoiding getting a newer phone that might end up crappy for you.

For me removable battery offers two capabilities I like.

1) Avoid service charges once the battery degrades in 18 months. I think $49.99 is a fair price from Samsung being a different of an extra $20, but I also want to avoid the waiting and technicians ruining my phone by opening it.

2) Ability to put a bigger battery which 2x-5x battery life which eliminates power banks and having to swap a different battery. Some battery packs go up to 10000 mAh, so 10-15 hr SOT is easy to reach doing heavier tasks and not just video playback or Wi-Fi browsing.

I guess I will wait another year if Samsung comes back to their senses like LG did and go back to removable batteries.

The first point is definitely a concern, but the second point you can get a battery case. It's the same affect, you get a thicker phone with a lot more battery.

Running on my AT&T edge for a few days now. Biggest perk over my 6s plus is ergonomics and the screen is beautiful but I'm still not quite sure. My battery is at 28% now with my admittedly heavy usage (4 hours SOT so far with 30 minutes streaming video during a commute, strong cell signal, mix of wifi and LTE). Nothing different than my 6s plus and on that I keep wifi and Bluetooth always on, would still be around 60%. Always on display off, doze seems to be kicking in okay, screen on auto seems to average around 50%. Also, anyone finding headphone volume to be 10-20% lower than on iPhone?

You are the only person so far that I know of on the forum that has the AT&T variant. As a test would you please select "basic" in screen mode option and try running Subway Surfers or Temple Run and see if it would run that way instead of changing it almost immediately in the game back to adaptive.

Thanks in advance.
