Yeah, I would like to know that too![]()
You can get Gevey sim for $10 to try it out; a minor investment, don't you think?
Yeah, I would like to know that too![]()
Does anyone know if it works on iOS 4.3.2?
On the applenberry.com site it says it does, But that probably works only on the new GeveySIM Pro.
the end of chip is too tall to slide into the SIM holder with your SIM on top, if that makes sense. After working tediously with a fine grain file, I was able to make it fit. I was also careful not to damage the chip connectors while doing this. When I insert the tray, I only get the message, NO SIM INSTALLED
Well it works, I have one and I haven't had a problem yet. When I first got it my simcard was bulging out, but if you force it in, nothing happens to it. I took it out after a week and no scratch or chip. All you have to do is turn the phone off, get the welcome screen, wait 15 secs, dial 112, hang up, turn airplane mode on and wait til you get the no sim thing and turn it off and voila.I just want everyone to know, I bought one on the SIM inter-posers from sunsky.com, and after waiting about a month for it to arrive(I work in Afghanistan) it does not work at all. First of all, it is not a gevey chip. I know there have been comments on this forum that sunsky is legit, but in my experience it is not the case. I ordered two chips because they were so cheap($15), however they come in a package that says 'SmartSim' they have the tray holder, but the end of chip is too tall to slide into the SIM holder with your SIM on top, if that makes sense. After working tediously with a fine grain file, I was able to make it fit. I was also careful not to damage the chip connectors while doing this. When I insert the tray, I only get the message, NO SIM INSTALLED, tried over and over, restarted the phone, toggled airplane mode, no message, besides NO SIM INSTALLED. Tried other chip, same results, seems this chip from sunsky.com is a fake. I also bought the HDMI adapter from sunsky.com, and that works with my IPad and IPhone 4, which leads me to believe some of their products are legit, which is good news, just be careful and stay away from their chips. I am going to buy the one from applenberry.com and try it out. I will let you know if I have success with that, I really want to be able to use my phone out here.

Tried turning it off first, then inserting the chip and SIM, same results as before, I can't complete a call to 112 with my IPhone 4, I dial it, and then it says 'call failed' immediately. Any ideas? Still not working.
That's odd, did you wait for the welcome screen to appear?, make sure you are following the correct directions. If you trimmed your SIM card just prior to this procedure, test it on another phone to verify it's still working. Also, according to Gevey's FAQ, the adapter will not work on custom firmware until you restore to original firmware, not sure if this is true. I have mine working on a stock 4.2.1 device jailbroken with Greenpois0n, perhaps it won't work on custom firmware (e.g. those created with Pwnage tool) but I could be wrong.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install the Turbo Sim at the same time as a locked SIM?
Do you mean PIN locked? If so, yes, it is possible, you will be prompted to enter the code like two or three times during the process.
I enter the PIN every time, but they end up being required over and over anyway. I see you mention I should expect this to happen a few times. However, at the stage where I have already dialed 112 and am turning the airplane mode on and off, the locked SIM notifications keep coming anytime I toggle on or off, but I never finally get a functioning phone.
I have a Rebel MicroSIM on order, should have it sometime this week. Will report back on that later.
As for the Gevey's, even Applenberry is hocking the new "Pro" model for $35. There's some debate as to whether their Gevey's are real or fake, as the intro screens are in English (Gevey original are apparently Chinese text only). I have no idea. I've got many of the cheap $15 type and they work perfectly.
The "Pro" Gevey supposedly holds the unlock after a power-off reboot cycle. I don't have one of the "Pro" model to test, and probably won't bother as I've got plenty of the originals.
Maybe timing is very important, enter the code as fast as you can to avoid interfering with the procedure. Have you tried to unlock the SIM card without the Gevey SIM? The option is located at Settings->Phone->SIM PIN (the last one)
Thanks for the suggestion. I did not know about that option in settings. Unfortunately, the phone seems to refuse to unlock it. I just get Invalid SIM at top left of screen.
Does rebel microsim holds unlock after a power-off too??? I thought rebel microsim holds unlock after power-off .. i think i ll check "pro gevey". Keep us posted!!!
Yes, Rebel holds the unlock after a power-off and reboot. That was one of the big advantages over the original Gevey SIMs. Apparently the newer Gevey "Pro" do the same thing, though I can't verify that. I will report back this next week at some point after I have time to try the Rebel.
