FWIW, My harmony remote (with hub) works quite well with my Nvidia Shield TV, running Android TV. So I'd assume it would work on this new chromecast. The hub just connects to the Shield via Bluetooth.

Verizon exclusive.
I checked on the Google US store and white is on there.

You can actually pre order the 4a 5G here from Carphone Warehouse, but only join the waiting list on the Google store.

I'll miss face unlock but its hard to blame Google for getting away from face unlock in the current mask climate. Its an easy way for them to cut cost with a built in excuse for doing it.

3 year old designs? Sound a lot like what critics say about Apple.

Oh, my apologies. You mention .7" and the 4a 5G, I'm thinking that you have the Note20 Ultra with 6.9" display and going for the 4a 5G with 6.2" display.

I believe the Note 10+ has a 6.8" display, I'm in the process trying to find a buyer for mine.
It's actually a new design for the Pixel range. Some will never learn that people are individuals and have different needs / wants. It's as if someone is going to change their personal preference based on some random dick heads opinion on social media. ?

So it is, I'll be losing. 8" then going down to a 6". Still, I loved the 3a XL I had last year and that was the same size.

Yeah shame that active edge has gone. I didn't use it loads, but it was always satisfying when I did haha. I always wanted them to allow us to choose our function for it like HTC Did. Squeezing it to activate the flashlight etc.

Yeah, it's definitely a different design change. Same with the upcoming iPhone 12s.. ever since the iPhone X, it's been same notch and rounded corners. Now, Apple has somewhat went back in time to the days of iPhone 5 with the squared edges.

But as you just mention, we all have our own personal preference and there's plenty of choices out there. And I recall seeing a comment regarding rumored iPhone 12 pricing. I suspect the iPhone Mini going to be between $699-$749, I would be shocked if Apple prices it at $649.

Yes, I too thought Google would evolve Active Edge for use with functions, not entirely remove it.

This year, Google's philosophy not to release a true flagship with full features is reflective of them considering the current state of an economic global downturn. I expect they considered this even before the pandemic started. Also the Pixel 4a (5G) and 5 promote their new ethos that Pixel buyers are not willing / prepared to pay high prices for a flagship this year.

However, by not bringing a true flagship to market, I fear they could be be outgunned by the likes of Apple, Samsung and competition from the Chinese. Those buyers looking for a true flagship will still likely pay more for features that better the tech of 2019 smartphones.

I personally would prefer to see Google push the new technology forward.

That thought process goes against what is actually happening though.
Look at smartphone prices lately. They have been going up not down. Samsung has shown that people are willing to pay a premium for premium features on smartphones.

My feelings are if Google added the same features on par with Samsung...they could charge the premium price and deliver a better product.

Current Pixel 4 owners who are considering upgrading to the 5—what about it do you find compelling?

I have a 4XL and there is literally nothing that feels like an improvement over the Pixel 4 models, save for the ability to use 5G whenever it actually becomes reliably available.

I had the sage green Pixel 5 in the cart, ready to press order, but then I stopped.

Currently using the Pixel 4 XL. I'm wondering what kind of real world upgrade is the Pixel 5 to me?

I think I need real reviews first before final decision;

-Bigger and better battery life would be great. Hopefully a lot better than my 4 XL.
-Brighter display would be wanted and very needed.
-Camera better? Especially in Portrait mode, but how much better than my Pixel 4 XL?
-The slimmer size actually would be nice, easier to hold and use one handed. I do find the Pixel 4 XL on the border of just too large a phone to comfortably use. But I don't like small phones either.

But at $700 + tax now, and knowing most likely will be discounted at the holidays, makes me want to wait too. Real reviews first will help my decision.

I think battery will be comfortably better than the 4XL. I don't see how it couldn't be. Lower res screen, less power hungry processor, smaller screen, bigger battery.

Canceled my pre order as well and also decided to wait for some reviews. And Black Friday....

FaceID on my Pixel 4 XL pisses me off, it's so inconsistent. Some times it works 80% well, but mostly it's 50% and have to enter my Passcode. It's never 100% perfect, nothing is, but man it is very frustrating.

And I'm not even talking COVID masks, of course it never works then, it's passcode only with my mask on.

I'll take a fingerprint scanner all day over poopy FaceID.

I was so looking forward to getting this-just to see the rumors were true :’(. Who wants a 765g processor? Nah I’d rather get the iPhone 12. I’m officially done with android

Looks like the Sorta Sage has slipped now to delivery 27th Oct in UK.

Black still showing as available for 16th delivery. I do think the green is a much nicer pick but can imagine there are people who prefer the stealth look.
