Both variants still available for delivery by 16th October on the Carphone Warehouse website.
And they're the only place you can pre order the 4a 5G. I prefer buying from Google, much easier if you have any problems.

I wonder how they'll name the A models next year, considering we already have a cheaper version of the 5 with the ultra wide.

I normally don't do these comparisons because they kinda don't make sense but the same day Google launches the Pixel 5 for 699 Xiaomi launched the Mi 10T and 10T Pro with ridiculous specs for way less money...

My Pixel 2 XL has served me well for the last 3 years but it's starting to get long in the tooth, I really want to like the Pixel 5 but it just doesn't want me to.

Who wants a 765g processor?
Have you TRIED it? I haven't, but all indications are that this SoC is absolutely capable of handling the use case of most users (and that is reinforced with the "bare" Android on a Pixel). The 865 "works" for Samsung because of Dex. Google has no such feature, the 765 by all accounts will do everything most people need it to do at the speeds they expect. People get so hung up on specs and don't look at how the device performs for their use day to day. We're not comparing a Core i9 to a Celeron here, we're comparing the 2.3 gHz 8-core i9 (SD 865) to the 2.6 gHz 6-core i7 (SD 765) in the 16" MBP. The i7 will be perfectly suitable for most people, while SOME will have a need for the i9, you buy the device that suits your needs.

Could it have been cheaper? Sure, and it will be in 6 weeks when we get the Black Friday sales. Does it seem overpriced when compared to the S20 FE at the same price? Maybe, but you have to consider that the cost Samsung puts into the add-ons on those phones is spread out over WAY more devices than just the one model AND those add-ons often are the reason Samsung would need the better SoC.

Then you consider people like me. I'm on Google Fi and happy with the plan. In order to make full use of the plan I need to have a Pixel phone or one of TWO Motorola phones (neither of which really "tickles my fancy"). I currently have a Pixel 2XL. The 5 is pretty much my only choice for a comparable replacement unless I want to switch carriers, which HAS crossed my mind but then I think about spending more than $30 a month for my cell phone plan and I come back to the Pixel 5...

Google is going back to nexus roots a bit more....but price could have been lower or a pre-order throw in. I still have my (not used much) google daydream headset from my pixel 1 purchase.

guess pixel 1 is sticking around for me...battery is my only concern as i lose about 20% overnight and even this morning it said I have 14 hours til i would need to charge (based on very light use?)

It must be annoying, that UK get a pair of Bose QC35 II for pre-ordering at £599. Those are £200+ headphones.
It's a sweet deal. But the UK have been shafted by Google a lot over the years so it makes a nice change.

Is the headphones deal strictly limited to the countries that Google listed or they will deliver them to you within that continent, regardless of where?

US
Man USA really got the shaft for once.

$100 more than the rest of the world to include mm wave, which is mostly useless, no bonus headphones, and a 2 week later release date. USA USA USA
I guess things are starting to even out. I know the US was getting some sweet deals the rest of the world never saw....

I said it over on the other thread and I'll say it again - when Apple is charging more £1099 for the 11 Pro vs £999 dollars and Google is charging £599 with headphone deal vs $699 and I'm getting 3% back in credit for having Google 1 storage, seems like a no brainer.

Yeah, you are looking at the price. And, yeah.. price plays a part in buying decision. But at the end of the day.. it’s two different platforms, if one is comfortable and enjoys Apple platform... Google being cheaper won’t entice them to switch over.

Can't believe how beautiful this smartphone is. Especially the green version. Wish it would had a top of the line processor.

It's not that Google is cheaper, its the difference in $ vs £.

I have 5G turned off on my S20 Plus even though I live in a 5G area. Speeds aren't much faster than LTE and Tmobile currently has a problem with their standalone 5G which causes phones to randomly drop signal completely. Happens a lot during calls I've found. Turning off 5G fixed the issue.
