I'm concerned about battery life, based on his two reviews if it on his Twitter page, before the NDA came up.

It's good battery life, and great for a Pixel, but overall he was getting like 6.5h to 7h SoT, which is pretty good, but not amazing. Certainly not iPhone 11 Pro Max battery or other Android phones.

The ones he posted on Twitter were showing like 5 hours SOT with 45% battery. That's pretty damn good. Although he did say he had AOD turned off which makes a big difference.

That sounds about right to me. I was guessing the 15th, so only slightly wrong. Still Google will have started processing and charging the first batch of pre-orders (in Europe at least) by the 14th I imagine.

Yeah I saw on Twitter someone asked a reviewer when they would have something on the Pixel 5 and they replied on Oct 14th. Thats all I have to go off of right now.

I cancelled my Pixel 5 preorder today.
Having used a 4a, I'm not sure im going to like the size of the 5. Strangely, I always usually opt for smaller phones, but the last 2 phones I've used have been pretty big and I'm struggling with a smaller form factor.

Also, the 4a is waaay too light. I know its cheap but it feels cheap too. The 5 isn't much heavier, so it concerns me that I'm just not going to enjoy it. I could have kept the preorder and tried it out, but think I'm gonna go for something else instead.

Look forward to hearing everyones thoughts on it though.

I saw a size comparison video and someone held the Pixel 5 next to the 4 XL and they looked about the same size if you cut off the forehead of the 4XL.

Oh. That's odd... It looks a lot smaller.

That's definitely a 4XL. The thumbnail is deceiving because they are holding the Pixel 5 closer to the camera. About 10 seconds in they finally put them side-by-side.

I don't get why there are no hands on with the pixel 5, because of an embargo? So silly. I went to a store here in germany yesterday and played with one for a while and was very happy with what I saw, everything looked very fluid, but the camera needs like 1.5 seconds to process the photos if you tap on the thumb after you've taken the picture, and also if you open one of your contacts, the phone needs like half a second to load the full picture of your contact, so yeah.... you can tell in some places that the cpu is not the best.

I'm so torn, I could get a pixel 5 for 613 eur sell the bose headphones that come with it for around 170 eur, so in the end I'd end up paying like 450 eur for the phone... But I also kinda want to get the iphone 12, but 64 gb, no charger on the box, no 90 or 120 hz screen.... it's a though one for me

Thanks for the quick review yeah one of my biggest pet peeves is when a smartphone UI isn't smooth and fluid, that's a deal breaker for me.

And that's on a brand new phone imagine 6 months to a year later after it's bogged down with updates and more apps sounds like I might get even slower.

I'm a huge pixel Nexus fan as well but this sounds a bit disappointing. Currently have the Pixel 4 XL, doesn't sound like I'll be switching this year.

Quick unboxing video. Not much info because hes under a strict embargo but he does lay the Pixel 5 next to the 4a and 4XL. Screen size doesnt look at different from the 4XL IRL. Again to me the phone looks like the size of the 4XL with the forehead chopped off.

The Pixel 3a albeit not a flagship has had updates etc in its 1 year plus lifetime, it still performs well now so I don't think the Pixel 5 is going to slow down because of that.

I have the 4a an can confirm that there is indeed a slight delay when processing pics but that's because there is no neural processor on board, its not on the 5 either. I haven't experienced the contact picture thing though.

Interesting. Although heft can show a confidence in build quality. I'm actually missing the days of phones being lighter. I mean obviously we cannot go against physics, those 4000+ mAh batteries and large screens will carry some weight, but in a sense I'm glad the returning of plastic, making phones lighter on the pocket (in a literal sense).

Phone weight is a weird thing. Too light and it feels cheap. Too heavy and its not comfortable.

Oddly I found the Fold 2 to be really nice to hold. Despite being heavy it was well balanced and it felt premium rather than just heavy. Meanwhile, the S20 Ultra felt awful and really top heavy. One of the least ergonomic phones I've ever used.
