There's no way to use the extensions in the Chrome app, correct?

Also, I checked out the 8 Pro at Verizon today. Very nice. I love how light it is and how the matte back feels. The blue color is ugly, IMO.

The phones are at stores now? Nice

I originally preordered the blue but changed to porcelain.

Blasphemy, how can you say such a thing. 😂 Lol

Seriously though that blue is an awesome choice.

I would like to see more manufacturer get a little more bold with color choices.

Bay looks like sky or baby blue to me which is one of my all time favorite colors. Although I tend to love highly saturated colors of all kinds this blue just looks great to me. Although I would love to have seen a pink, purple and orange version all super saturated and bright. Maybe a yellow too.

What's a good wireless charger you all recommend? The stand upright kind.

Is the Pixel stand 2 worth it?

So relating to my last post and not trying to feel crushed by Drinkingtea's unreasonable criticism of the new Google "bay" color, I went ahead and pre ordered.

Guess what color I chose? Guess what color band I got to go with the watch 2? Yup, Bay. 😂 😆 Lol

Honestly I am just having fun with a fellow forum member and mean nothing but jokes and fun. Sometimes people can get really serious and mean spirited on this forum and various threads so I just want to be clear I am saying this in jest.

But I am serious about the pre order.

I don't know about other people but I tend to prefer wired charging over all else and would just buy a compatible PD charger with the specs to fast charge the phone according to Google. I would probably just buy the Google charger because I like the 30 minutes half charge and I am not sure other chargers are capable of this plus a stand will charge slower with a lot more heat which is bad for the battery.

If the stand is more convenient to you then it is sort of like the P7P charge speed plugged in.

I really want to to try the pixel 8 pro live, I wonder if they fixed the jittery/janky/choppy scrolling that Exynos/tensor chips have since years :/ it is very noticeable while scrolling in chrome and social media apps like reddit, twitter and LinkedIn.
Yeah, agreed on this. Twitter has always seemed choppy on Pixel phones, whereas iPhone it’s real smooth. I never used the official Reddit app on Android but given how clunky the iOS app is, I don’t have high hopes for its Android version. Hopefully wrong.

Just a head's up: I requested to have my account be deleted. This forum has had a bad influence on me, haha. I'll be sticking with my 8 Pro and my iPhone for a few years. It's been great chatting with y'all through the years. Enjoy your new Pixels and your future Pixels!

I'm sorry to hear your leaving. You always had great replies, and fun to see your smartphone history of different phones, and what you liked and didn't like.

Okay this is cool and I don't remember seeing it in Android 13. You can create shortcuts on the lockscreen. I have the flashlight on the left and the QR scanner on the right.

Android 14 may not look like a huge update, but it has a lot of these nice minor tweaks, that really make a difference for the better

Hmmmm, Best Buy says I would get $450 for my pixel 7, bringing the price of a pixel 8 down to my cutoff point at $300 plus I would get pixel buds pro (don’t really need as I have a pair of Sony link buds S, but wireless charging would be nice)

Google says it will stop sticking with a formal schedule for Pixel updates, and instead just release them whenever they are ready.

I've been eyeing the Bellroy case, I had it for the Pixel 4 but it wasn't very good IMO. It doesn't seem to have the plastic sides anymore at least.
I'm on the fence with Bellroy as I've never owned one. I usually wait for third party leather cases. Judging from the reviews & others here I thought I'd try it out. As it's in black it may be OK, let's see. I'd like a brown leather for the patina but I think the material Bellroy uses doesn't allow for a good patina over time.

Whoa don't leave! We are in a specialist minority group on MR who appreciate both sides of Android & Apple tech. There is not many like us! The fact you were one of the first to try out the Nothing phone is great; we need your views and input here! I was disappointed when @GrumpyMom left too, her opinions / views are missed. I bet I'm not the only one either.

The only bad influence here, it can cause cash to disappear from wallets pretty damn fast!

This is more great news from Google. Technically it should improve the Pixel user experience with more updates but, more importantly, we could receive adhoc monthly updates as Google develops its AI services faster. I like their new way of thinking.

I have the Pixel stand 1 and 2 but honestly only ever use them to charge, never any of the additional features. 😅

They do a "tan leather" colour on their website but not on Google store weirdly. I'd probably just get black as well to match my obsidian phone and less likely to look ***** when it gets a bit dirty lol.

I might use some of my Google store credit to buy it when I get the credit.

Ooo gosh. Always a bold move going from iOS to Android. What was the reason out of curiosity?
First question I always ask is - do you use an Apple Watch. As if yes, and you love it, you will NOT find the Pixel Watch to match what the Apple Watch can do.
I think it’s the gold standard of smart watches. Me personally, I don’t care for it at all, but I’m very much in the minority. People go crazy over the AW and if you find it integrates into your life well then you will likely go running back to an iPhone for it no matter how much you like the Android device you’re using.

The best advice I can give is give yourself time to understand Android. The Pixel is a great shout to move to as I think it’s very much the iPhone of the Android world. But you need to find time to adapt and learn the OS. If you only last a day and say it’s not for you then IMO you haven’t given it anywhere near long enough. Use the 2 week return period to make a full, informed decision.

Re cases, I always think Casetify do a good selection. But they’re expensive.

I’d recommend giving this video a watch. It’s a good introduction to Pixels (it is last years model, but the OS hasn’t fundamentally changed).

Good luck! Do post your thoughts!
The S23U is the “ IPhone of the Android world.”

What an opportunity! Can I ask for your personal view on the video, what was the quality like? For the Bay aesthetics, do the sides and rear stand out as really shiny / polished like the videos show? I do think the blue colour looks amazing. If Google had released the Bay with matte black sides & rear camera bump (like the Pixel 4XL) I would have been all over that. As it stands I've opted for Obsidian as a safer long-term option.

The blue (bay) color is the best of the lot, imo. The sides are shiny / glossy indeed, but not overly so. But, yeah..that blue with matte black sides would've been a knock out combo!

Is there an option on the Pixels where any photo I take just gets uploaded to Google Photos and doesn’t affect my internal storage? Or is that just default?

Probably a dumb question I know, but can’t help to ask.

I think from memory it uploads to Google Photos but not sure if you can set it to auto remove from internal storage, you can "free up space" in the app though that will do that for you.

Just saw a deal from a UK retailer with a promo code that I can get the Pixel 8 Pro and the free Pixel 2 watch for £799.

I am half tempted to try it.. and move over from the iPhone 15 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

How relaible are Pixels from launch? I am more concerned about the connectivity aspects such as signal strength and GPS performance. Previously had the OG Pixel from the Pixel line!
