Is anyone keeping their Pixel Watch 2 then or is it just me?
I’m tempted to grab some additional bands.
Yeah I'm giving my.AW7 to my better half and I'll be using the Watch 2. My first Pixel watch experience. I've bought too many Watch 2 bands already lol. No doubt I'll buy more though!

Sorry for the late reply…

No. They seem fine on my case. It’s quite a thin case but that was really what I was going for. Doesn’t seem to be a finger print magnet either which is a plus.
Thank you for sharing.. I think it's going to be a perfect case to keep it slim and the phone when I was holding it today felt light...

Looks like some twitter comparisons are starting.
Aaaaand early signs are great for Pixel vs iPhone 15 PM.

Looks like Apple is still struggling with HDR and we also still have that yellow tint to every photo.
The yellow tint in photos has been a struggle for HDR with Apple for a long time, but I am surprised to see it again this year. I've not taken enough HDR photos yet with my 15PM.

Out of those two pictures, with the Pixel, you can see clearer definition of the sky, more accurate face detail and better green colours on the leaves. It just looks better HDR quality.

Yeah I was looking for a nice magnetic case. Sometimes if I go out I'll just take my phone with a magnetic wallet on it with just my Driver's Licence and Debit card.

I like to keep things minimal as well on many occasions…and it’s been forever that I bought a Mous case …

I love the punchy, moody Pixel aesthetic. No other phones seem to add in that extra dynamic range like the pixels.

Thanks for the reply, I might order the same one. Did you order it from the Google store? How's the magnets?

No sorry, Samsung didn't get the memo on better hardware; my Z Fold 4, previously in great condition, now requires a new hinge and new screen.

So I disagree Google are using inferior hardware vs Samsung & Apple. I previously had a Pixel 4XL, Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 Pro, no issues with 'inefficient screens', no issue using either in sunlight, battery lasted all day etc. Google could change to an ultrasonic FPR but, again, I had no issues using the optical FPR. Face unlock with Soli & the 4XL screen was best in the business, as good as Apple's FaceID, arguably better.

Can you let us all know where you've found the information on how the Pixel 8 Pro hardware components are 'demonstrably worse' than either Samsung or Apple? I've not seen any reports / evidence of this.

Pixel prices have increased, but still cheaper than both Samsung & Apple, including in Europe.

The Tensor 3 is successfully managing heat thermals with the latest reports out, yet you thought not as your in-store demo unit, likely plugged in all day, was hot to hold. I handled 5 iPhone 15PM demo units on launch and guess what? All were very hot to hold. That doesn't make the A17 chip inferior either.

I'm not picking a fight, but not sure why you are here on a dedicated Pixel forum when you always like to contribute negative comments against both Pixel & Google without backing yourself up with actual facts. So based on this, I for one, struggle to take your comments seriously.
We can criticize things that we like, google is not our partner or family member, they literally just care about our money.

Yes, you are absolutely right, judging a phone by my experience with a phone that is handled by people all day in a store is bad judgment, I regret having done that.

I know Google devices very well. I've been using them since the Galaxy Nexus and I currently have a pixel 7. No inferior parts? Remember the crappy screen the pixel 2 xl had, so did the pixel 6. Let's not forget tensor issues with bad reception. Here are some receipts:

"Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Display Review: Questionable value OLED tech"

Screen consumes abnormally high power at high brightness

You say that you haven't seen reports of the inferior parts, but you clearly have because for example, you know that the pixel 8 pro is using an optical fingerprint sensor again.

Again, I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I would love to be proven wrong by Google, but I've been burned too many times. Note taken, I will comment less negative stuff.

Sorry about your issues with the Fold, those devices are really not ready for primetime.

Got to play around with the P8P at BestBuy today. Love love the flat display! The display model running the demo software was still quick and responsive with no stuttering at all.
It did seem a little more narrow than my 15PM and S23U to me. But IMHO it is a big step up from the P7P.
I can't wait to mine next week!

I reckon it’s going to be a nice phone to hold vs the 7 Pro. More rounded, matte back, less sharp corners, flat screen. All the things I wanted after the Pixel 6 Pro, basically! :D

Yeah sorry your not convincing me. The final conclusions and thoughts of that 7 Pro tests prove any screen differences are negligible in real world usage. The 6 Pro had a great LTPO screen. Causing high power drainage at peak brightness? Apple and Samsung screens will do similar if you keep the brightness on full maximum all day. My Z Fold 4 absolutely haemorrhaged battery life at peak brightness over a short period.

Just because the 8 Pro has an optical FPS compared an ultrasonic, that doesn't classify it as an inferior part, particularly in day-to-day usage. Yes, I'd love an ultrasonic FPS too but I also never had any issue with the optical FPS on either the 4XL, 5 or 6 Pro. So optical FPS is a non-issue. I mainly use face unlock, the 8 Pro is also likely to have as secure face unlock now as Apple. Also, I personally never experienced any reception or call drop-out issues with any previous Pixel.

Benchmarking scores on Apple's A17 & Samsung's Qualcomm 2 will both likely be a lot higher than Google's Tensor 3. Again, that doesn't affect real world user usage either as Google is tailoring the Tensor 3 for the Pixel software experience, particularly with AI.

The two real issues with the 7 Pro were the thermal heat management and battery life. From the latest reports, both look to be resolved by Google now with the 8 Pro. Apple's has just resolved its own heat thermal problem with the 15 via a software update.

I did ask if you can let us all know where you've found the information on how the Pixel 8 Pro hardware components are 'demonstrably worse' than either Samsung or Apple? You've not provided any real evidence to demonstrate this so no need to state the comment in the first place. All this achieves is spreading misinformation and puts doubt into new buyers minds for no valid reason. Reddit is by far the worst culprit for Google misinformation.

Actually, the early Pixel hands-on are positive and say the P8 Pro hardware is improved overall.

Until full reviews are out on the P8 Pro, us consumers are not to know the quality of all hardware yet anyway. After the Pixel Fold, I'm hoping Google have stepped up with hardware. This year looks to be more of a marked difference between the 8 and 8 Pro.

I know Google isn't perfect too and I'm not here to defend them either (I own a 15 PM as a daily driver so impartial) but they do receive far more criticism, backlash and unjustified comments on Pixel's than the other main players. This does frustrate me as I'm sure for the same as others here who appreciate both Android and Apple.

Look, I do get everyone's ownership experience is different. As others have said, if your not happy, just find a smartphone that suits you.
So, if you personally feel you've been burned too many times by Google, I'd say it's now better for you to stick with Samsung or a China brand on Android or in Apple's walled garden.

Google have finally been listening! The 8 Pro aesthetics seem great and early reports say easier to hold in the hand vs the 15PM. I think the iPhone is easy to hold but I am coming in from a very heavy Fold 4! Flat screen is what I really wanted for the Pro. Curved screens are always better looking but flat screens are perfect!

Well I guess as the saying goes, if a deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. So I had a chat with Xfinity Mobile about my order and I was told, it was all looking good. So I asked to confirm the free PW2 promo and I was told I did not qualify for that because I was trading in a phone and that I would need to cancel and resubmit the order without a trade in.

So I cancelled the order and went to their main page and the free PW2 promo banner was gone. So I went back to Google, cancelled my PBP order and placed another order for the 8 Pro 256GB along with the Buds Pro in porcelain. I could have added the PW2 as the freebie and purchased the Buds Pro's but I got to thinking, I probably wouldn't get a whole lot of use with the watch. For me to really get use out of it, I either need to be around a WiFi connection or have my phone close by and I haven't worn a watch since the 80's. It was the lure of free that was calling, LOL. 😎

My dealings with Xfinity in the past have not been good. They have a habit of being rather tricky so I didn't want to push my luck.

I went to Target to play with the 8 and 8 Pro.

Eh. Lol. It felt like one of those iPhone type upgrades from the 14PM to the 15PM when I was like ... the subtle differences weren't noticeable.

It still felt like the S23U screen was better than the 8 Pro.

I'll probably get the 8. I never get the Pro version. Just don't want to spend the extra $300 or want the extra size. However, the P8 colors kinda suck. Oh well. A case will go on it anyways.
Still love my Lemongrass, just not real thrilled with the P7 and hope the 8 is a big improvement. Not going to pre order though. ....maybe. when do they start coming out?

I was just looking on their store. I'll probably order one. I'll get $325 for trading in my P7 which is a little more than I paid for it last year,... and get free buds.
I don't wear a watch so don't need that and it's only wifi anyways.
And I think ill order my Wife a P 7a. Been hearing good things and it has good specs. Just not the Tensor 3 chip. Unless she wants the P8 but I'm sure she will want the cheaper one lol.

Her phone is a Galaxy 9 so it's old. And they will give $100 for it for the P8 or $50 for the 7a.

Good to know the best phone screen in the industry is still the best. S23U undefeated.
