have you tried other editing programs like after effects?
All the Creative Cloud Apps are linked to Media Encoder as far as I know. Some other user suggested to switch the render engine to Metal. Haven't tried it because I switched my project over to FCPX.
But this wouldn't be a final solution, Open CL is what I want to use because it works best according to the Adobe specialist I was talking to.

This again raises the issue of having laptops impossible to repair. What happens when a component fails outside Apple warranty? The customer is completely ****ed if they can't self service a single part.

Great point! This is exactly why I feel that Apple Tax (Apple Care) is mandatory on Apple laptops. If it goes haywire on Day 366, you could be hosed. Granted, Apple has fantastic customer service and has been known to take very good care of people, but there are no guarantees...

The price of Apple's laptops are already high, but then you get to add $300 of Apple Insurance on top!

So, I just picked up a maxed out 15 MBP at an Apple Store and set it up. As I was logging in, the screen for a split second flickered and looked almost exactly like the pictures that have been posted here. :(

I really hope this is a software glitch and not a hardware one.

I put my new MBP to work right away and edited a project in Premiere Pro.
When I used the Adobe Media Encoder the graphics card freaked out and computer crashed.
I went to the Apple Store and they said it's probably a hardware problem.
So I ordered a new one.
I kept the MPB I have now because when I switched over to FCPX everything seems to be working fine.
But the technician said I shouldn't trust it after I showed him the video of it freaking out. I have the
Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

Oh man, having to use Adobe CC on the 2016 MacBook Pro, if I where a 460, I would do that too. I'm too small and weak to do any heavy lifting, and my only option would be to freak out!! a GPU tantrum..

What are the computer specs on the ones that this is occurring? I have:

2.9Ghz
1TB
460

The computer screen glitch occurred, thus far, only once while logging on to my computer. Haven't been able to duplicate it.

Hey guys I can confirm that the only screen flash I had was logging in and is now fixed by disabling file vault

I did that too and realized that a different screen is given as an option to log in? Previously, with File Vault on, I had to select my profile or guest. Now I only have my profile to choose from. No flickering now, but still not sure about whether it is a long term solution. Wouldn't one want file vault on?

Adobe media encoder has caused stuff like this before with older Macs, once the distortion etc occurs it then appears throughout the system until you reboot and reset the pram etc. Then it doesn't occur again until you run media encoder. We had this with a client and it was to do with nvidia cards using cuda so I wouldn't expect it to happen with AMD cards. Is this what happens with yours or is it happening outside of using adobe software?

Also, did you do a migration or fresh install of everything? And if you did a migration what did you migrate from, machine and gfx?

I have been on the phone with Apple support and they ran various diagnostics. Whenever I log in, I get this flicker. It stopped once I disabled file vault, however, Apple support still wants me to bring it in for diagnostic and are proposing to give me a replacement at a local store -- if one is in stock. Not sure how this will pan out.

With all these GPU problems, I am wondering Apple refurb store will have a boat load of 2016 MBP's.

FWIW, my problems were noting to do with Adobe Encoder. I had not installed much, and the culprit appeared to be Photos App. This does seem to kick off the switch to dGPU (according to gfxCardStatus), and I had no issues until I started the Photos sync. I think the issue is related to anything that actually uses the 460 GPU.

I have a

2.9 GHz
1 TB SSD
460 Graphics

I have been taxing my computer since yesterday when I saw these threads. I ran the photos app as stated, synced 30,000 items, including 1,000 videos and the computer re-ran analysis on them (faces, places, etc). I ran a couple of games at max settings (latest one was StarCraft II) for hours and had zero issues. The computer actually gets less warm than the other MacBook Pro I had (with an Nvidia 750m). That and the new touch Bar is awesome. I love how you can skip and scrub iTunes tracks while they play and you are NOT in iTunes. I am extremely happy with it.

I know it is of little consolation, I believe the thread starter, sometimes the laptop just plain fails, on any brand. I hope they get the issue resolved. I seriously doubt it is a soldering issue. Last couple of generations it happened because the solder they used no longer had lead in it and it started to crack sooner than the previous generations. And it usually did not last 3 years. If it was bad soldering, the issue would not go away with file vault being turned off or restarting the computer.

It sounds to me it must be a firmware or software issue of some kind. I strongly doubt it is hardware. Hopefully a software fix can solve it.

I bought mine within minutes of the announcement and so had one of the first batches.

When I plugged in the Apple USB C multiport adapter (which I'm returning anyway as my monitor does not play well with HDMI) I got a weird graphics artifact right away but it has not occurred since.

Every time i restart the computer there is a small glitch but I read somewhere that this may be software related and should be fixed in 10.2.2 beta...

But I'm still worried this machine may be having some graphics problems early on.

Ran Apple Diagnostics (reboot + hold D) and it said all was fine, however.

Thanks for sharing your experiences so far. On a side-note, the Touch Bar haters out there that haven't even tried it out yet need to read your thoughts. I suspect the vast majority of users will feel the same way as you do after using it for awhile.
