Still struggling on it. Hopefully next week the formal release of iOS 8 can work with 10.10 beta2

Make sure Face Time is set to receiving incoming SMS. Also check your settings on the iPhone for Face Time. If all the settings are correct and on, you can try having someone send you a text and see if the allow popup comes up for you.

I do get a popup but when I open Messages nothing SMS shows and if I try to send a SMS message it always fails

I have no problems with making calls via Handoff though :-/ go figure

edit: is it possible to make the various popups stay up longer? I swear half the time I notice them just in time for them to disappear quicker than I can even figure out which program it's for...

I can't get hand off to work on a mid 2011 Macbook Air and my Bluetooth LMP is 0x6 so I have the right version, but I can not see the area to turn hand-off on - on my mac. or enless it is not avaiable yet on the mac, but I can make and recive calls.

The hand off setting dose not show up in my general settings. and I'm running the latest Yosomeite Beta 7, and on my phone I'm running the GM version of iOS 8

So I have a mid 2011 MBP running the latest Yosemite preview and an iPhone 5s that was running the latest beta as of this morning. All handoff functions were good as far as I know. I could take calls from the MBP, send sms texts to and from with no issues. After upgrading to iOS 8 GM the sms function and phone calls have quit. I have tried everything I could think of at least 3 times including logging everything in with @iCloud instead of @me. I do see incoming calls now but cannot answer them but nothing at all with sms. Not receiving or sending. Do you think they decided to remove the function for this later series MBP because of the Bluetooth being 0x4 instead of 0x6? It is just odd that everything was flawless until the GM update today.

It quit on me as well. It was working flawlessly on my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini then just stopped completely. Haven't done any serious troubleshooting but I am disappointed. This time, it doesn't just work.....

Late 2011 MBP here. I can send and receive phone calls on the Mac or iPad Air. Since yesterday, SMS is not showing up on my Mac or iPad Air, whereas it was working before. It appears that Apple (re: their website) has turned off the SMS feature until October.

Mine was working until I decided to restore settings on my iPhone (not full restore). Now I only can make phone calls using my Mac, but SMS and handoff/continuity are not working.

mine is working! iOS 8 GM on an iPhone 5, and Yosemite DP 7. Made sure everything is logged in on the same iCloud account and bluetooth is on. Works like a charm!

Tried everything

I am running Yosemite DP7, iOS 8 GM, on a mid 2012 MBP and an iPhone 5s, have everything on both devices logging into my .icloud.com account and STILL have yet to get continuity handoff to work in either direction. Previously I just chalked it up to beta issues, but as I am seeing that others in a similar situation are having success, this has become a nagging issue to me. Granted we are only a month of so away from having final releases of Yosemite, but I would like to figure this out.

I have never had issues with the new Yosemite phone calling feature, incoming or outgoing, and I can see my iPhone in the system info under bluetooth (not paired, but clearly able to communicate via bluetooth).

I have read threads on several forums and have tried every trick that others have posted, but my setup refuses to budge on the issue.

Everything worked perfectly for me, but now hardly at all when I updated to the iOS GM and the latest OS X DP.

Cant get mine to work either, Just "upgraded" to DP7 and the handoff feature in system preferences seems to have vanished. Searching "handoff" via spotlight shows it located in general, but alas it must be hidden. Running on a mid 2011 MBA. iPhone 5 with ios8 GM.

Almost went through all the trouble with the kexts, but want to try and avoid that.

Handover finally working !

I couldn't get this working for ages. I'm using iMac with Yosemite Beta 2 and iPad Mini with IOS 8 GM. Wouldn't handoff anything !

Until !! - I went into Airdrop in Finder on the iMac, and changed "Allow others to find me" to Everyone and the same on the iPad - swipe up, changed Airdrop to Everyone. Now works fine with apps. Have not tried calls, SMS yet as iPhone still on IOS 7 but would think it will :)be ok.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but this is what worked for me ! Hope it helps others.

I'm on iOS 8 GM (iPhone 5 and iPad Mini w/Retina) and Yosemite Public Beta 3 (Retina MBP). It's almost working perfectly for me. I can start a hotspot from any device, if I open a webpage/email/text on my iOS devices the icon pops up straight away on my other iOS and Macbook. But if I open a webpage/email on my macbook nothing comes up on iOS devices. No idea why.

Did you see the little Icon on the lower left corner of the lock screen? I just opened a new message on my Mac and a little mail icon showed up on my iPhone lock screen.

No I get nothing on my iOS devices when coming from my Mac. Works fine from iOS to iOS or iOS to Mac, but Mac to iOS doesn't work.

I assume you will only be able to see the "Allow Handoff" option if you have a device that is running iOS 8, correct? Because I do not see the option and do not have any devices iOS 8. I have a 2011 MBA running BT LE 0x6
