I can’t believe they still didn’t fix the mouse

I feel like people who never owned a Magic Mouse are the ones harping about the bottom charge port. There's really no other place you're going to fit that component due to its angles. They'd have to redesign the mouse.

Personally I like my Magic Mouse for travel although I will concede it took a LONG time to get used to but once I did I liked it.

I’ve never been in an office that turns off machines overnight. There always on.

I think that’s more likely to lessen the life of the machibe right? I was told that the power surges that happen when switching off and on ends up breaking devices. A low current (sleep mode) is best for longevity.

Maybe that’s old advice??
That is correct, you should leave them on. It has always been harder on electronics to power them on and off often than to leave them on. In the past there were many reasons you would still want to turn them off, it was a tradeoff to leave them on. But today, if you are powering your Apple Silicon desktop Mac on and off every day, you are actually using it wrong.

Desktops don’t really break like laptops. They age out fully functional most of the time and are only replaced because they stop getting updates. Planned obsolescence is the number one killer of desktops.

Turning the computer off and on does nothing to that life cycle but it does have a significant effect on power usage on the macro scale.

LOL! Apple's trollin' again. 😄

Every now and then they seem to like to poke a finger in the eye of the Internet. My previous favorite was when they'd describe products as "now even more Pro". This row of mice gets high marks though.

Should I use the mini upside-down to have easy access to the power button (I hate leaving my devices in sleep mode during the night).
I'm the opposite. I hate shutting them down and starting them up again. I've worked in product development on devices that have sleep modes, and the regulatory requirements are extremely tough these days. Modern devices are only allowed to use a really tiny amount of power in sleep mode, so I'm not concerned about power usage when they're sleeping, but I love having them wake instantly when needed. My Macs only usually shut down when they need to reboot for software updates and they're never actually powered off.

Every computer in my office that was left on was hit by crowd strike. Those of us that shut down our machines, such as me, were fine. I take my laptop home every night anyway; it doesn’t need to stay on in my bag.

For my personal computer, I shut it down on the weekends as I try to avoid using computers on the weekend.

I wonder how much bigger the chassis would have to be for apple to have put the power button in the normal place?

I think I read the vertical clearance on the bottom of the new mini isn't big enough to avoid having to tip it to turn it on? If this is the case I think apple should have increased the vertical clearance so someone with an average size finger could turn it on without having to tip it up.

I may be one of the few people that actually likes the old design. I would've loved the old design but with the power button in the front. And they could've used the extra space to add a large heatsink to minimize potential throttling / fan noise.

But it is absolute bonkers to see the old and new design side by side:

RIP Intel

The simple answer is to have a wireless charging pad you put the mouse on when not using it.

The clearance of my Mac Studio is too small to be able to put a finger under it. So, I suppose it will be the same with the mini.
