Now you know what people need to do with that power button issue now? 3D Print a bracket so that when you depress the whole mac mini from the top that it activates it, but still keeps the air flow okay.

I can’t believe they still didn’t fix the mouse
I think that port is the only thing that makes sense on that mouse.
I know, really unpopular opinion but they just didn't want people to use them with the cable on, that would wreck the cable so they made it impossible.
The rest of the experience is just trash.

Then Apple should fix the low charge notification. Telling me in the middle of a busy work day that the mouse battery is critical at 1%, instead of long before that (like 20%), is an epic design fail. They should just bundle them two to a box because that's what you need to avoid lost wages from the downtime.

Better notifications would be good, charging is rare and fast.
But again, I hate the shape, the feel of the different materials, the touch surface, the click feel, the weight and balance, the way it slides on any surface, the durability, the price.
The port, well, at least I understand what they were trying to do.

They should have given it the ability to be both and AppleTV 4K and a mac, using a 4K TV as the computer monitor as well.
? There’s nothing an Apple TV 4k can do that the mac mini can’t. What would be the point? It can even run a TVOS simulator under Xcode…

I only got my base model M2 Mini in Dec ‘23, but it’s on eBay right now (with Satechi SSD hub and 1TB WD SSD)-the new Mini is a significant spec bump. M2 > M4, 8GB > 16GB, 3 TB ports (I have two external SSD’s for Media and Photos) and USB-C on the front: great for charging mouse/keyboard/AirPods, Syncing my iPhone without having to pull the Mini out from its resting place. Power button isn’t an issue either, think I’ve only turned my Mini off 3 or 4 times this year.

Actually feel like Apple have listened this time round…

Who here is a weirdo like me who was most excited for this new Mac Mini?
I just ordered the new Mac Mini M4 Pro 24G/1TB, and am trading in a 2021 M1 Max Mac Book Pro for it ($1055 credit). That was my work computer and my company let me keep it as a parting gift when I retired in May. I never used it for anything but as a clamshell desktop computer anyway. I already have a MB Air M2 as a personal laptop. I have two LG 32" 4K monitors I use and they should work fine with this, just as they did with the MBP.

I wanted a M4 Max Studio, but that's not out for a awhile and I don't really need anything like that anymore since I don't work (software engineering) anymore.

I'm going to wait for Black Friday, maybe Apple or Best Buy will offer the new Mini with free USB-A to USB-C adapters or a USB-C Thumb Drive

New base mini is a fantastic bargain (especially at Edu store!), but will have to wait for matching TB5 hubs and desk mounts.

As much as I love to complain, damnit those iMacs look good. The port placement is kinda dumb but those mice do look damn good as well. Not really a big deal. The button placement on the Mini isn't a big deal either, I think I've touched mine maybe three times since I got it when the M1 first came out.

Am hoping someone does a stress test to see if it throttles the cpu when it get hot. Am considering the pro but sucks no 32GB option. Will wait for real world tests from folks who actually use it. My M1 mini is doing fine so am in no hurry. But may wait to see what Apple will do with the studio before buying another mini.
