No update from me.

Fedex is sitting on my package in Anchorage for like 2 days.

That company really blows.

I received my week 6 i7 Quad 27" yesterday, so far no issues. The Grey is the same on top as is it is one the bottom of the screen & no flickering.

Joey, can you confirm that your i7 doesn't buzz when you lower the screen brightness? Make sure you have no sound in the room as it's barely noticeable unless you're looking for it. My i7 came in with no issues except for the buzzing that happens when one lowers the brightness under 60-70%.

I sit quite close to my iMac (2 - 2 1/2ft.) and I had to lower the brightness. I haven't noticed any buzzing. I know for a fact it is quieter than my current i7 920 PC, which I hear over the iMac. I will check today and get back to ya.

I got that too. It is more noticeable when lowering the brightness to minimum.

mine is Week 5

it's a very faint buzz. I sit as close too - and while I don't mind the screen at 100% brightness, it bothers me knowing there's a buzz when it's at 70% or lower. Whenever you get a chance - put your ear near the top left corner of the computer and lower the brightness all the way down. Very faint but it's there.. I know that if I wasn't aware of this and was listening to music (low) I'd never notice it. I don't want to return my computer just because of this - it's perfect otherwise. And I'd rather not wait another 3 weeks.

How likely are you going to use your computer with an ear stuck to the top left corner of the monitor? You should invest in a couple of mirrors so that you will be always sure there are no micro buzzes from that position... :D

+1. This is absolutely ridiculous telling people to make sure there's no sound in the whole room, then put your ear close to your iMac and then raise and lower the brightness. If you have to do all of that which is completely out of the norm, then it's a non-issue. Seriously, too much OCD on this forum. Does anyone actually "USE" their computer? Are people usually this ridiculous when they buy a PC?

Hello all.

I have not been on for some time, as i have played around with my iMac. So far i love it.

I have taken some pictures of the screen. I have used my iPhone 3GS for the pictures, so they do not have a great quality. I have tryed to take pictures at differnt angels, and focus with the camera differnt places.

Its a week 6 model, i7 with 27" and 8gb ddr3 ram ordered from apple.com/dk

Well, difficult to tell as the first two pictures are way underexposed. There are some strange colors in them, but that could be because of the iPhone not handling underexposure very well. The last picture is not the whole screen, looks like it has little color shift in it but that could be because the screen is not at a right angle towards the camera.

lol, your right. This is my first mac and had plenty of pc's that you didn't even have to sit close to in order to here it. I have the 27 inch iMac and this is the most quite computer that I have ever seen. It's a machine with moving parts, it's going to make a little noise.

Hello.

Just taken some others :)

Still with my iPhone, so not a good camera.

Hello

Indeed! I used before a PC with i7 at 3,06ghz, Geforce 295GX2 and 12gb ram. And wow! This Mac is not saying anything. It is very quite... My laptop which i use in front of my mac, when i need to do school stuff (going to get a Macbook Pro also) is not quite and i can hear it a lot more then my iMac. The iMac is not saying anything. It is completely quite, and i just love it!

And yea i think some people is looking too much after errors. I would NEVER take my ears up to my iMac and listen to it... I have never done that with any other product, so why shuld i do it on this one?

The only real issue i can understand people is complaining about is the yellow tingie, and the flickering. (I have not had any flickering on mine, so seems like they have fixed that.)

Does your screen always buzz when you lower the brightness, or is it only in certain situations? A few days ago I noticed that my screen was buzzing in the upper left hand corner. After about 5 minutes of buzzing it randomly stopped. After it stopped buzzing I noticed that whenever I would reduce the brightness to 30% the screen would start buzzing again. Today it's not doing it. I'm trying to figure out if the buzzing is caused by a defective screen, or if it's something else. The buzzing seems to be in sequence with the CPU and occurs randomly for me.

I got this problem too. But mine buzzes anywhere below about 40 percent brightness. And it is related to the cpu somehow. Scroll down or up in safari and it goes away. Once you stop it returns. It's the same with opening up programs. Buzz goes away when loading up new programs and comes back when it's done loading.

Just received my 3rd replacement 27" i5 imac today

Week 5 imac Results :

No yellow

It has a seagate 1tb which at first worried me about noise but its silent.

I-sight has NO dead pixels at all.

Temperatures all around the 50 deg mark

No dead pixels on screen

No high pitched noisy screen

Has the buzz at low brightness but ive had 3 that all had it and the 3 i played with in diffrent stores had it too . Sitting in front of it you cant hear it at all im keeping this one . Time to stress less !!

Maybe I'm OCD, too late to change now :p

The buzz is consistent. The more I lower the brightness the louder it gets. I just want to make sure it's NORMAL and not something wrong with my 1 day old computer.

The buzz itself is a non-issue, I don't plan on lowering the brightness that much, and I usually have Pandora on.

Agreed. As long as its not some out of control, loud buzzing, then I don't see what the issue is? I was really nervous about the yellow tinge, but the yellowing that I noticed on pictures didn't even seem bad enough for me to want to return it, unless it got worse of course.

Hey

I cant see any yellow tingie on my screen :S Only if it is not just my eyes, then a little at the button. But nothing i am noticing. Others i have talked to also cant see any... Maybe it is my iPhone that is making some darker corners? :S

EDIT: Hmm even the aluminium under the screeen, on the pictures is also alittle yellow/dark :S

Here's a tip - don't look in these threads anymore. No one can say your screen is yellow based on the pictures you took. Many factors come in - so don't worry about it. If YOU don't see the yellow, who cares??!?

Hey

Thanks, was just my thought some minutes ago :) What i can tell there is no issues that i can see or hear.

Thanks again :) I guess i will not think about it anymore. All other products i have brought have i never been looked this much as a screen to find errors.

So lets just say, in my eyes and in the ones that have seen it of my family, the screen and Mac is perfect :)

Thanks for your time.
