It’ll be interesting if any of these “third party” leather colors ever presents something that’s a strong departure from something from the “first party” era.

Interesting. There are several colors, too. I guess Apple just isn’t selling them on their site, but won’t stop Hermes from promoting them.

The only Hermes direct leather band I'm interested in is this one with the additional stitch and the two metal buttons.

Love this promo shot.

But the stitch seems to get very close to the holes of the band - Doubt they can add another hole for me

Now need to decide between this and the orange Kilim rubber band.

All the base leather bands all gone up in price in Australia from AU$499 to AU$589.

The nylon / woven / fabric bands have gone up from AU$469 to $549.

The new gold one with stitching is AU$929, which is probably similar to the H diagonal last year.

Ok true these leather bands prob woulda been 379usd from apple.

At 589usd the clou de selle is giving deployant price level imo.

Also we should note the Toile is Vert Militaire. Gotta love Apple marketing truncating that.

Inflation is the obvious answer, but another theory that may, at least, be influencing it is the fact that there probably was or may be a breakup between Apple and Hermès and so as to continue to allow Hermès to essentially compete with Apple by selling directly leather bands they have to pay to Apple a premium and so hiked up the costs. Maybe.

All of this has me nervous that the partnership is signaling an end in the near future — I could be wrong — but in any event, I’ll enjoy this beautiful new Fauve Barenia with Saddle-stitch and Clou de Selle I just ordered.

The new Fauve with Clou de Selle is advertised as “Saddle-stitched” which is why I stated it that way. Not all Hermès is saddle-stitched, however, there are many different types of hand-stitches used—retourne and sellier are examples.

My thinking on this is coming more and more around to the prediction that the partnership will not end next week. I think there is a chance it will change somewhat. Apple may stop selling Hermes leather goods on its site. But I think the partnership has been lucrative enough for both companies to continue. So you might only be able to buy Apple Watch Hermes bundled with a nylon band from Apple's site. But you could still get it with any band from the Hermes site. Tim Cook's Apple talks a very big game about environmental stewardship (and, to be fair, has made real strides in this area). But it is also a business trying to maximize profits for shareholders.

Going to go ahead and say I was pretty much right on this one 😁

The killim in particular is super striking, ended up ordering both black (with an S9) and an orange one to use interchangeably with my Ultra since it’ll match very nicely.

Called it re: a rubber strap a few days ago somewhere buried in here!

Man…Space Black got all the love this season. Bordeaux and Vert Cyprés in the leather, and hands down the better Toile H colors.

Kilim does nothing for me. But…it does represent a more “affordable” way to get a deployment clasp that could be switched over to a leather band…

I am debating ordering the Bordeaux kilim too!! I ordered the orange killim and the noir woven. But now I want the Bordeaux kilim.
