Okay so I added up all the times in my list and it comes to 234 minutes which is 3 hours 54 minutes correct? My usage is 3 hours 52 minutes and 11 hours 25 minutes of standby.

Like I said, if your phone is working properly your usage times doesn't move when it's locked and not playing audio.
No... you can only really add up the times when your standby time is at 24 hours since the battery usage list is for the last 24 hours regardless of how much you’ve charged or not. Also, you can only add the screen on time figures, nothing more. It’s mostly a pain in the butt, but it is the only accurate way unless Apple changes the 24 hour list to a “since last full charge” list.

For your times you have 11.5 hours of standby on this charge cycle, but that list includes 12.5 hours of usage time from the previous charge cycle. Honestly you could easily see that the phone adds usage without you touching the screen by just charging it to full, then letting it sit for 6-12 hours. Your apps will do some kind of refresh, a message or two will pop in, and that usage ticker will slowly count up. No music necessary.

And as I said, mine won't move when locked and not in use. It will increase maybe 1 or 2 minutes in an hour. That's not enough to artificial inflate usage times vs screen on times.

If your time is increasing significantly while your phone is locked that means you have something wrong with an app or with iOS and should probably fix it. Unless you're playing audio.

Battery life is absolutely amazing - my iPhone 7 Plus had 6 hours usage before it died and using my iPhone X the exact same way (youtube, safari, Reddit, Facebook, messing with the camera and Animoji for an hour or so) I’m getting about 13 hours usage sometimes more, I’ve never ever had battery life this good on N iPhone before.

I have my wallpapers black and Reddit in night mode so maybe it’s not using as much power as most of the screen is black?

U have something bad going on. I’m getting great battery life to the point I can’t believe I stuck with a normal 7 for so long. X lasting me all day and I’m hammering it. Music on speaker, lots of calls, reading all the newspapers, you tube for an hour or so. Got Apple Watch connected.
My battery ran all the way down by 4pm today no gaming no videos no music no gps, quick charged it back up to 95 percent its now just before 10pm and im at 54 percent only browsing while watching tv, nothing intense. Battery life on the X is way worse than my 6+ or my regular 7 ever was. Also, my screen brightness is under 50 percent. I always kept my phones at 100 percent brightness before.

Whoever says their battery life is better is either full of it or keeps it in their pocket all day. Its not even close
U

Everyone with bad battery: Try deleting the YouTube App. It seems to be buggy in recent versions and drains a lot of battery in the background. My battery was very bad until i deleted the app. Device was also very warm all the time. Now it's a ot better.

I come to this thread expecting to find people report their X battery usage instead I find arguments of 8+ being better and crapping on X for its lower battery life. Really? For a second I thought I was in the wrong thread and almost clicked out. It’s mostly one person arguing against everyone too... you need to make your own 8+ battery life thread and leave us alone. It’s hard to find a X thread without 8+ users crapping on it seriously wtf is wrong.

BTW to stay on topic I get around 7-8 hours, seems like what most people get, this is pretty much the same (at least I don’t feel a difference) as my 7 Plus. I have no complaints. Lasts me all day. I slip in and out of service at least 2 hours of that time due to metro, and at work I have at most 2 bars of service. My usage includes music, chat, and browsing mostly.

I’m experiencing similar battery life performance as I did on my 7 Plus, Not great nor bad.

Guys I have a technical question, I’ve been suspecting this for some time but not sure if it makes sense so I figured I’ll ask here, could a surge protector of low quality(no brand name) which my iPhone’s charger is connected into cause my iPhone to not charge properly and cause damage to the iPhone’s battery in the long term? Or as long as the charger is properly working and charging my iPhone I should assume the surge protector is good? The other devices connected to the surge protector have been functioning fine for a long time.

3hrs 44min usage

9hrs 11 mins standby

79%

My 7+ batt went to crap after going to iOS11. Would get to the end of my working day about 20% at best lower than normal and be around 20%. Wouldn't last all day no more.

Coming form a 7+ which lasted all day and then some, I am very happy with the X so far. I charge overnight to start the day at 100%. By the time I go to bed it's typically at 5-15%. I have not had to change my charging habits for the X which is all I care about.

Pretty impressed, using it through a normal work day where I run Bria to connect to the work VoIP system I end up of 58% battery at 6pm after taking the phone off of charge at 7am. Thats clocking in about the same as my 8 Plus was getting. Thats a mixture of calls, voip calls, email (1 iCloud and 4 exchange Accounts) and browsing.

Yesterday I was at around 7 hours with 20% remaining when I plugged it in (probably 4hrs use 3hrs standby)... I am a pretty heavy user so while that's a little less than I'd like... Its much better than my 6.

Is that normal? I have a TON of apps, but limited access for them to use location. I use 50% brightness and 30 sec screen lock.

I did install from backup. Should I have started from a fresh install? Would that help?

My biggest wish for this phone was to make it a couple mm thicker and make it a true all-day battery. No such luck. Hoping a Qi pad at my desk will get me through most days, and a portable battery pack and/or Qi-Enabled battery case will fit the bill on days when I need a extended battery.

Waiting for someone to come in and tell you why your usage does not count and the Plus would get 26 hours....
Yeah I’m sure. People can point to the great battery life of the 8 plus all they like but I fail to see me getting any better battery life on the 8

The battery life on my x crushes what I got on my 7 plus

Do you have an iPhone 8 Plus as well? How does the 7 Plus compare to the 8 Plus? I have both and while my 7 Plus used to get 10 hours of screen on time on iOS 10, with iOS 11 it dropped by around 2 hours. Pretty sad actually. My 8 Plus lasts 10 hours though.

Or post test results from a website showing the X battery life being worse than the 8 Plus and assuming that means EVERYONE will have the same experience.

That is even better than mine! What settings if you don't mind?
Brightness is set to auto/around 50%
bluetooth on all the time never switch it off
True tone off
location services always on
background refresh off

No only a 7 plus. Feel your pain as my 7 plus did get worse when I downloaded IOS 11 for sure. When I got my x I charged my 7 plus and didn't use it at all and when I looked later in the day it was at 53%..

Battery life is OK, not as good as the 7 Plus.

I've been changing settings on the background app refresh to see if I can improve the battery life, which is something that I didn't have to worry with my 7 plus.
