currently

4 hours, 46 mins usage
8 hours standby

76% left

Interesting because I’m at 75%:

2 hours, 7 minutes usage
3 hours, 53 minutes standby

You basically have more than double my usage AND standby times yet you have slightly more battery left than me. Something isn’t right.

It ended on

13 hours usage
22 hours standby

So many variables. I am noticing that web browsing and messaging really eat my battery up. If I used podcast or music with the screen off my phone could go for hours and hours.

I think a lot of these with unusually high battery hours are using their phones quite differently than those of us who do a lot of web browsing and messaging. Plus there’s ways to save even more battery by turning on Low Power Mode, turning the brightness all the way down to zero or turning on one of the color inverting profiles. Posts on a forum such as this is not very scientific in gauging the X battery life.

The more the white and the more the bright = more battery usage.

I have left location services and all background services turned on as well as bluetooth on permanently and getting very good battery life on mine i.e way better than my OnePlus 5 ever did.

I‘m actually a litte disappointed with my battery life of my iPhone X.
I thought with the battery capacity near to the 8 Plus and an OLED Screen it would at least as long as my 8+.

With my 7 Plus i usually got
~ 6-8 h Usage Time
~ 15-20h Standby

With my 8 Plus i got:
~ 10-13h Usage
~25-35 Standby
(Even the first complete Cycle lasted over 10h Usage Time).

With my X i get:
~6-9h Usage Time
~ 15-20 Standby

At the Moment i have 52% left and
4h 35Min. Usage
9h Standby

The installed and frequently used Apps are the same as i always make a encrypted (is this the correct word for making a ITunes Backup which is locked with a password?) Backup and restore my New iPhone with this Backup.

Maybe its worth a try to reset the iPhone and try it with the iCloud Backup?
I‘ll wait a few days and think about it ..

Edit: Configuration was always the same, everything like Background refresh, Bluetooth, WiFi, Location Service is on. My Apple Watch is paired all day.
No low Power Mode is used and 8+ and X had TrueTone activated.

Didn’t your 7 Plus last longer on iOS 10?

I’d try restoring your X and setting it up as new. That gives you a cleam phone.

Listening to music counts as usage, as does a whole bunch of stuff that doesn't necessarily require the screen being on. This isn't like Android where you can get a screen on time.

Coming from a 7 Plus where I could text, talk, watch many YouTube videos, watch some Netflix, and more, and still maybe be at 50% by 7pm is way better than my new X whereas I may be at 20-30%? The real test is vacation where I can take pictures and videos of my kids all day on vacation and kill the battery at the end of the night whereas this X I may need to carry a charger and hope there are outlets to use?

Mine is like yours. Not good at all. Having to charge 2 per day. Hoping it’s just background stuff for now. But I went plus in the past for the battery life. Hate seeing the battery drain so quickly. Am used to all day plus battery

My 7 Plus battery lasted usually:
~ 7~8h Usage (at very good days at the beginning maybe 9h)
~ 20h Standby

The difference to iOS 11 was not that much.

I am trying to avoid setting up the X as a new phone because getting all settings back would be so annoying.

A lot of this usage discrepancy is down to people’s usage patterns. Some apps are bigger power users than other, some people’s locations have worse signal, settings are all over the screen place for everyone. The biggest power consumer is the screen and OLED screens tend to have worse power efficiency than LCD panels at high brightness levels while displaying mostly white content. I would think the easiest way to get your usage stats up would be to just lower the brightness to tolerable levels. This would be especially true for people browsing the web as it seems many websites love to use a white backdrop. That and have your lock screen and background display mostly black colored content.

I essentially have the same battery life as you guys mentioned. Haven't changed any of my usage patterns coming from an iPhone 7 Plus but I don't like having to charge it already by 7pm. Maybe I'll give it a few more days and observe if it gets better.

Just curious, did you restore from a backup?

Lol no luckily not.

Is yours a Qualcomm or Intel model?

Battery life is absolutely amazing - my iPhone 7 Plus had 6 hours usage before it died and using my iPhone X the exact same way (youtube, safari, Reddit, Facebook, messing with the camera and Animoji for an hour or so) I’m getting about 13 hours usage sometimes more, I’ve never ever had battery life this good on N iPhone before.

I have my wallpapers black and Reddit in night mode so maybe it’s not using as much power as most of the screen is black?

Just curious, but which carrier model do you have?

Just to chime in - I’m getting same crap battery life as these guys. 7.5 hours and it’s dead, doesn’t last all day. I set up as new phone and did not restore from a backup.

Same here, I had a 7+ that would last all day, even my S8+ would last all day but the X is dead by 6PM...

Took my X off the charger yesterday at 7am, listened to Overcast the entire day at work (~8 hours) and used Twitter through Tweetbot, texted through iMessage and used Hangouts for majority of the day and hit 20% around 6pm before I plugged in when I got home. This is a bit better than my 7+. I'm more than happy with this battery life. This is with my work having absolutely horrendous LTE service (~1-2 bars) of service that goes in and out.

Note: on 11.2 beta 2.

All you guys with this great battery life, are you using low power mode at all?
