I did run it, apparently my hearing is down in my right ear..
So my Carbon 10 arrived yesterday and I've gotten it mostly set up the way I like it (Nova, icon packs, etc.)
Initial impressions:
That's all for now.
- Camera is better than I expected, but I've only used it sparingly so far. I'll run it through the ringers this weekend in all kinds of environments.
- Build Quality is fantastic. I'd put this up against any smartphone on the market, easily.
- Software is fast, fluid, and very customizable. Very close to stock Android, as has been widely reported.
- Audio via speakers is better than any phone with stereo speakers. Headphone performance really surprised me. I have a pair of ATH-M50x's and they sound better than I've ever heard. Granted, the iPhone 6s Plus and Galaxy S7 have been the other two phones I've connected them to. I can't wait to explore more of the audio. I'm a bit of an audio nut, so this has me very excited.
- Screen is gorgeous.
- Battery, way too soon to tell, but standby time seems very good.
I hate that, always such a tease when you get the accessories first.Great stuff
I really want my device now !!!! I did get my case & screen protector today ....
Look forward to reading your thoughts MRU.....gotta post some shots of that beautiful Irish coastline with those little furry guys....Got tracking from DPD UK, mine will arrive on Monday YAY
MRU, what case and screen protector did you get?
some reporting pink tint issues on the screens...

just the opposite here in Arizona......we get promised heat waves and get it! It was 102F here a couple days ago. I would love some of that nice ocean onshore flow! But I guess the cold and drizzles gets old after a while too.Hopefully mine will be grand, yep will snap a few nice beach shots as meant to be hotter in Ireland next week than Ibiza (I remain sceptical as we were constantly promised heatwaves last summer and we got none).
. Anyone here get an email saying something good is on the way?

I don't enjoy calling out other sites for poor testing methodology but I can at least explain how Ars Technica arrived at those results.
In short, they're using AndroBench's default settings other than changing sequential to 256KB. The default settings are designed to give a huge advantage to UFS in ways that real apps generally do not. By default, AndroBench uses 8 IO threads for all of its tests. This behavior showed up with AndroBench 4 and continues in AndroBench 4.1.
eMMC is half-duplex, and designed for single-threaded IO tasks. It's not the greatest system, but it is the most common storage in use in Android phones, so applications are going to be designed for eMMC storage instead of the 5 or so phones that are shipping with UFS storage. Multi-threaded IO actually can negatively affect storage performance with eMMC because of resource contention issues, so in general it's rare to see multi-threaded IO in real apps.
This leads to the results that Ars Technica is seeing. There's also an element of variability with AndroBench out of the box because the file size is 64MB. I've found that in the move from AndroBench 3.6 to 4.1 that the test has become far less stable and results can vary significantly from run to run, so I usually take the mode of multiple runs to get a result to report
If you were fully expecting the HTC 10 to perform worse than the Samsung Galaxy S7 here like I was, you'll probably be surprised to learn that it doesn't actually do worse all the time. In this test at least, write performance of the HTC 10 is 75% greater than the Samsung MLC UFS solution in the Galaxy S7 due to the use of an SLC write cache. However, sequential reads on the Galaxy S7 are about 35% higher than what they are on the HTC 10. The same sort of pattern repeats itself in the random read and write tests for AndroBench 4, so at a high level it's pretty fair to say that things like burst camera photos, app updates, and similar write-intensive operations are going to be faster on the HTC 10, while read-intensive operations like loading apps may be slightly faster on the Galaxy S7 if storage reads are the critical path.
Yup, and that is a real shame. I hate how slow the write speeds are on my 6p. Takes forever to even install an app. If the HTC is just as slow, might be a showstopper for me. The only excuse is the 6p is cheaper in price. The HTC has no excuse here.
the anandtech numbers on the htc10 are good enough for me. I tend to lean towards trusting them over others for benches. if apps really arent being designed explicitly for ufs w/ multithreaded io anandtech should be right
better write than the gs7 @ htc 105 mbs vs gs7 61 mbs
read on the gs7 @ gs7 233 mbs vs htc 173 mbs
I may actually choose the higher write if given a choice
There always seems to something about HTC phones. They get so close to having a truly great phone but miss it by something.the anandtech numbers on the htc10 are good enough for me. Soo tempted to grab this phone at a VZW store. They GSM unlocked and should work with TMO.

The HTC M7 and M8 were two of my favorites phones in design and performance. But the camera help them back.
I am still going to get the HTC 10 and decide for myself. I have read enough reviews to take the chance.
Just have wait til TMO gets it in the stores.
talked to VZW and...while they have demos in stores they cannot sell them. But I can order one online and get it tomorrow for Saturday delivery.wow really?
ugh, I wish htc held their ground and had an unlocked gsm/cdma worldphone similar to how apple does it. the consumer has nothing to gain by allowing verizon to control the device
pretty sure the htc direct version is gsm and wouldnt work on cdma even if verizon/sprint allowed it too
[doublepost=1462567953][/doublepost]
there is always something about everyones phones though
apple = must submit to apple overlord
samsung = must submit to carrier overlord (USA) , updates could be better
nexus = must submit to weaker hardware, user has complete control at least
htc = ? hardware isnt the greatest (better than nexus though), but has nexus like user control (noncarrier variants), updates to be seen
Yea no kidding about the FCC agreement, that's definitely right. I wish HTC jammed the cdma radios in their unlocked version so geeks could byod. Like the Moto x pure. Verizon probably made HTC agree to not do that if they wanted a presence in their storestalked to VZW and...while they have demos in stores they cannot sell them. But I can order one online and get it tomorrow for Saturday delivery.
By default all 4G VZW phones are GSM unlocked at part of the deal they signed with the FCC.
I agree with you @gotluck...there are no perfect phones out there. Some come close with hardware but the software is not quite right. Then some have the software but the hardware is not right......
