a better place
I need to discern if the headphone section and dac are the reasons for good audio. Please try other headphones with the 10 and please try those hi rez earphones on another smartphone (6s plus or whatever besides the s7e).

Ok .. so i tested the HTC Hi-Res buds and a pair of Xaomi Piston 3 earbuds in an

iPhone 6S+, S7e & HTC 10.

The Hi-Res audio buds do sound better in ALL devices compared to the Xaiomi Piston 3.

The HTC 10 has been calibrated with it's adaptive hearing feature that tailors 'all' audio headphones to your hearing.
The S7e had adapt sound enabled and corrected to my own hearing.
The 6S+ is just on sound equaliser, that is all.

The HTC 10 with boom sound adaption turned on makes audio in both headphones sound great - though the hi-res audio buds are better.

With boom sound turned off the HTC still offers a clean sound, but sounds pretty much identical to the 6S+ and the S7e (with adapt sound turned off).

The S7e with adapt sound turned on, and hi-res converter on - the Hi-Res audio buds from the 10 sound fantastic too. However the volume level is still very much less than the 10.

The S7e with adapt sound turned off, sounds much the same as the 6S+ & HTC 10 (with boom sound off)

The 6S+ sounds better with the hi-res audio buds than the xaiomi - but still not as crisp as either the S7e or HTC 10 with their audio modes enabled.

Essentially the 10 has more power to drive volume (more powerful amp) regardless, but with standard headphones other than volume - it sounds much same as S7e when you have calibrated that with adapt sound.

Hope that makes sense.

Will bluetooth earphones (like regular ones; nothing fancy) have the same audio quality that every HTC 10 review keeps raving about? The 24 bit thing?

Or is that strictly only if you plug in with a 3.5MM cable?

Bluetooth earphones have nowhere near the same fidelity as cabled earphones.

JOD is so awesome. Even if I don't decide to keep a new phone I could always jump back to the s7e. I'm looking towards more comparisons between the two.

JOD is the only reason I switched to TMobile after being with ATT for so long even back in the Cingular wireless days. The pricing is nice and saves me about $20-$30 a month but with JOD being an option with my tech addiction, it was a no brainer.

The guy in the store told me its so much better to do it online or over the phone as depending on who you get in the store will give you a harder time. Doesn't make much sense but matches up with what is being said here.

That being said, I think I would only jump 3 times a year.
New Galaxy releases
New Note releases
New iPhone releases

I am really loving my S7E but some people said it here. It is like handling a fine piece of china every day and I hate that I am putting a skin on it to improve the gripability of such an amazing looking device but it is fundamentally needed at least for me.

The edge screen is fantastic and content consumption is the best I have ever had on a phone with it.

T-mobile rep said a HTC rep was in their store last week showing him the 10. While not confirmed, he told me they should have the 10 on sale by month's end. No demo was provided to their store as of yet.

HTC1011

It's worth noting I'm in the US. Order carbon model.

The HTC 10, unlocked at least, already got the may security update. That was part of what lead me to order. I really am sick of carrier interference.

Yup same here, found a different code online but this worked! Thanks!!

Yes US is already getting a camera update and May security update it looks like. Looking forward to a smaller form factor over my 6P as well.

The Nexus 6p was a wonderful device, and I miss it. I had it for a short bit on project-fi, but had to get a phone via T-Mobile for their awesome unlimited family plan they ran for a few weeks a while back. It was what an android phone should be.

I am hoping the HTC will offer a similar experience. The biggest appeal, that led me to get the HTC, and consider selling my s7 edge was this:

-The s7 edge is fast, but during my time in Seattle last week, I noticed heavy battery drain. On top of that, the phone would lag and hang randomly, with the frequency increasing the lower the battery went. This was bad, since I was using it to find my way around town. **Removing swiftkey really seemed to clear this up for me, largely, but the random hiccups have always been there.**

-The camera is amazing, but I would take a slightly slower camera for low light shots that don't have a yellow tinge.

-Ram utilization. I know this has to be the reason I see performance hic-ups randomly. The HTC is much lighter in this area

-USB-c. Its going to be annoying to buy new cables, and I will miss wireless charging. But I tend transfer large files to and from my phone often, and the s7 edge is slow in this regard.

-Build- The glass back is killing me. I am not aware of when I do, but apparently I dip that phone in sticky syrup everyday, based on how the back feels after a day of use.

-uh-oh protection. This is better than water-proofing in my opinion. I can use the phone freely, and know HTC has my back.

-Near stock android

-Audio: Mainly for the louder speaker, for when I am in the shower. I almost exclusively use bluetooth, so I don't expect a change here.

-My biggest grip: The s7 edge has a weird problem, that may or may not be fixable via a factory reset...but I don't want to screw with that. My s7 edge will constantly stop playing audio via bluetooth. This seems to happen at the worst time, like during a long distance run. Sometimes, it requires a restart to fix.

-Biggest reason: I am tired of carriers. Give me my phone, and leave it alone. Worry about my service, and let the phone maker worry about the phone.

*The nexus 6p had no of these problems. The s7 edge is a GREAT phone, and I am nitpicking above. The screen, or camera may cause me to return my htc 10...but we will see.

Looks like Ill have it in the next day or two, already got a fulfillment notification. Next day shipping was only 7 bucks, so my patience got the best of me there too.

Great reasons to switch.

Just FYI, are you sure you can run the HTC 10 in the bathroom as you shower? Will steam affect it? I know the HTC 10 has some form of waterproofing, but does it include steam and water vapor? Genuinely not sure, so just be careful.

I am still planning on using the HTC 10 on Project Fi actually. I am assuming Tmo will still work but it won't be able to switch to Sprint bands like the Nexus. Probably will lose wifi calling as well. But I'll be back on Fi with full functionality for the Nexus later this year. It will be an experiment to see what works in the meantime.

Like I said, form factor is really the biggest issue for me with the 6P. I do want OIS in a camera as my daughter is one and a half now and moving faster :) And the build quality is just so-so. Seeing how rugged the HTC 10 is down to the nice looking power/volume buttons......looks fantastic.

Bonus that HTC gave me a $300 "trade up" quote for my 6P. Not bad considering I got it in November for $450. Quote is good until July 9th so gives me time to try everything out first. That plus the $100 discount (and maybe still get the "free gift"?) is a good buy to me.

Goddamn, y'all making me want an HTC 10. I guess cause it's new and shiny. :D

I can't have 3 phones... can I?!

MRU/Jamezr, don't answer that.
Too late ordered the 10 with the code BGA posted. Now just waiting for shipping notice. That will make the 6s+ Note 5 and S7 and M10 in the rotation. Benefits if ordering from HTC is it will be bootloader unlocked. So i will be able to flash Roms

Thr HTC water proofing is equivalent to splash protection, such as rain or a spilled drink. I would assume steam wouldn't be a problem. It's never been a problem for me with any phone i have owned, honestly. But if it does hurt the phone....then there is uh oh protection.

Sometimes I feel like we are phone bros. I don't keep as many devices on hand, but I go through just as many. We tend to get the same devices, often around the sametime...like today.

You guys are killing me!

I love the support for HTC! They seem to be almost nexus, but without the hardware cons eh?

Beautiful photos as always mru

Sunshine (bootloader unlock/ s-off hack) supports the Verizon model apparently so even those that buy Verizon can have total freedom

Yeah, I need to just turn off notifications for this thread. What's making it worse is that I just got my tax rebate, so I have the extra money, though it would be better spent on upgrades to the house...... but shiny.....
