Does anyone actually prefer chamfered edges?

Did they go this route just to be different?Ergonomics of the M7 and M9 were great.

The M7 and M8 both had chamfered edges. I really liked the look of chamfered edges and it's more comfortable than just a hard corner, though the curved edges like the iPhone 6 are even more comfortable.

I just don't get why they're still using Super LCD displays :eek:

They're terrible compared to IPS or AMOLED. It's an old technology.

i love the rounded edges on my 6s+. The only phone that comes close to that is the LG V10.

OS aside, I don't see any reason to pick the M10 over the G5 or S7. The only feature I liked about the previous M's were HTC's boomsound.

Yup. This has been my favorite feeling phone of the current generation, though the king for me is still the original Moto X 2013, that was the most comfortable phone to hold ever.

There is an assumption often used that amoled is best and yet other than maybe Samsung's flagships in my own experience owning so many others, amoled screens are more often than not very flawed. Color accuracy and calibration is often very much off compared to a very good LCD and moreover the white point is usually very much off point with majority of Amoled screens returning a very yellow hued screen. Some are worse than others yet all seem to exhibit this yellow tint (actually even Samsung's 2015 flagships had a pale yellowish whites, especially in basic mode which used to provide the more realistic colour balance previously). The Nexus 6P, yellow tinge, The Moto X Force, yellow tinge etc .... It just seems to be a factor in Amoled screens and personally i really dislike this warm white point. I have had to resort to using screen calibration apps (screen balance) to fix the yellow, but even then they still more often than not, don't match the clean neutral whites of a good IPS LCD.

Likewise other than Samsung, who pushes screen brightness v.high, most Amoled screens are very poor in outdoor sunlight compared to LCD screens. A 2k screen that you can barely see the contents on whilst shooting photos is quite often a frustrating experience.

An example here is the Moto X Style which people complained had moved to LCD and yet compared to its sibling the Moto X Force it actually has the nicer calibrated screen with the force being very yellow, and outdoor visibility is much better on the Style's LCD panel than the Force's 2K Amoled.

So yeah, the technology is far from perfect to declare it automatically better because there are plenty of excellent LCD screens that offer better viewing experience than majority of Amoled screens outside of the 3 Samsung flagship models.

I am keeping an open mind to the HTC One M10, before maybe ordering the S7 Edge, it looks to be a potentially great phone.

One M10 will have SD820 + 4GB RAM + 5.2" Display + Sense 8 based off Marshmallow + High end metal build + Fingerprint scanner.

Questions I have, are what size battery ? That is crucial for me, if it's not even 3,000mAh, then I won't even look at it. Will it also be waterproof ? If the battery is small, and no waterproof and other S7 features, then I'll pas on the M10.

Reading some Korean websites on the M10, they all seem to be saying the same thing regarding spec's;

- 5.2" QHD display
- SD820
- 4GB RAM
- 3,000mAh battery
- USB-c
- Entire new design, still metal build like previous One's, but not a M8/M9 clone, and Not an iPhone clone, but something new
- Fingerprint scanner
- 32GB base option
- Sense 8 based off Marshmallow
- Similar camera as to what the Nexus 6P, but a new version

I had an HTC One a few years back and that phone had the worst battery life EVER so no more HTC phones for me.

Would be pretty hard to top S7 imo. S7 is very refined as far as features go. Would be a shame if they got rid of the great front speakers - but fingerprint sensor has to fit somewhere.

I don't get it. One of the old HTC phones had bad battery life, so you're not getting the new one, even if it has better battery life?

Looking forward to this phone. Hopefully they get rid of the thick black bar this time.

I wasnt very impressed with the m7 I had and the new models don't really look to be much different. It got hot as an oven while charging, using gps etc. and had absolutely dreadful battery life. Samsung has its problems but HTC isn't even in the same zip code.

I'm on the sidelines waiting to check out the M10 as well. Must resist the new Samsungs until I get a look at other new upcoming smartphones as well since I already have a s6 Edge +.

Leaks of the new "HTC 10": http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-10-naming-rumors-678032/

evleaks-htc-10.jpg

More pics in the link.

They're following Samsung with the capacitive buttons (but they get the order right, unlike Samsung) and the flat home button with fingerprint scanner. No more boom speakers.

Those chamfered edges on the back are a bit out of control...!

Specs:

5.15-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with an Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB RAM, a 12MP main cam, and USB Type C for charging.

Personally, I don't see this competing with Samsung very well... Nothing new or inspiring, which is fine, but how will the camera hold up against the S7? Is there waterproofing? What's the battery size? No wireless charging. Samsung will likely have leading class display and camera, and most likely battery, too. Time will tell.

HTC is like the guy in a fight that is getting his ass kicked and knocked down and he keeps trying to get up. It is over HTC, stay down

I don't see the HTC 10 saving them.
[doublepost=1457106680][/doublepost]The two rumored HTC Nexus devices later this year will be very interesting to see...

Will they basically be the HTC 10 but with a finger scanner on back and stock Android?

I like the design. It definitely looks like a HTC device. I'd prefer them putting the fingerprint scanner on the back, removing the home button and having the boom speakers instead.

The design isn't bad really, but with more and more handsets now using premium materials - including cheaper OEM's - the 10's design just looks very 'generic' at best in 2016.

It's not bad, it's not wow either. It's merely meh!

But the big question for HTC is - does Meh! sell a flagship in a sea abundant with other contenders offering similar design / materials ...

The M7 stood out at the time, not convinced the M10 leaked design does ...

Well said. I predict this will not save HTC.

This is not the hero device you are looking for, HTC.

Some more leaks of the HTC hardware. Kinda pathetic how they're still calling it BoomSound when that name has an attribution to the front facing speakers on the previous M phones. I don't really care about speakers, but I still think it's a damn shame how they aren't including them, especially when they can fit them in the footprint. Just budge the home button up a bit and put them there. And the earpiece could easily be a hybrid speaker. Even if it's mono, it's better than the bottom facing one.

Capacitive buttons, yes please.

Not sure about this 'HTC 10' name. I guess it makes sense since this is their 10th high end flagship, but it seems odd.

Time for me to chime in;

I am super close to getting the S7 Edge on T-Mobile with JoD, but wanted to to see the One M10 first. And this does it, meaning no way, no thanks HTC. The design looks like a cross between a Samsung Galaxy phone and the OnePlus Two, which leaves me feeling a big meh, ok not bad, but not great either, it's nothing original or breathtaking, like earlier HTC phones were.

No Boom sound speakers ? Ugh, not good.

Curved back, not flat to lay on a table ? Ugh, not good.

Battery size ? I highly doubt anywhere near the 3,600mAh on the S7 Edge, if just 3,000mAh that's a pass for sure then.

The home button design just like Samsung ? Ugh, lame copycat. At least go round like Apple, is more comfortable, or do it on the back, but don't copy Samsung, be original HTC.

The design is just not the One series at all now. The M8 was a strikingly beautiful device, very clean smooth look on the front, and I loved the Double Tap 2 Wake option. Now with the home button, and lit up keys, it doesn't have that cool futuristic look anymore, but screams generic.

Thanks HTC, was nice to know you.

EDIT:

Why does it seem impossible for manufacturer to make a killer flagship phone ? Read the tech forums for ideas, we know what is best;

- Flat back
- Big battery, but still thin phone like the S7 Edge
- 5.3" to 5.5" screen
- High end build quality like the iPhone 6, with the curved edges for comfortable grip
- Very minimal top and bottom bezels
- Wireless charging
- Waterproof
- UI, can be Touchwiz or Sense, but totally strip the bloat completely, let the user install apps upon first booting and initial setup, have the phone only boot with the core essential apps to run the phone minimally, with nothing else.
- AMOLED display
