I've been using the P20 Pro a while now since launch and I love it just as much now as I did when I first got it. In fact, maybe even more.
It's locked to EE though, so I haven't been able to use it as my primary device (my main line is Vodafone that everyone contacts me on), which means I haven't tested it extensively.
I am tempted to sell this one, and re-buy an unlocked version but in the metallic blue colour.
The black feels a little bit characterless to me. I think I'd prefer to be able to use it as my 'daily driver' as and when I feel, which an unlocked model would allow, and also have a more interesting looking device to boot.
The blue is Carphonewarehouse exclusive, (as all the best colours of phones generally are
) and has been out of stock since pre-orders started. But it's showing as being in stock on 25th April, so might be worth me trying to pick one up then.
I'll see though. I've been half tempted by a regular P20 after watching camera reviews of it. Strangely, the P20 seems to be on par with the Pro in good lighting and still has the same night mode capabilties to produce sunning shots in virtual darkness. Weirdly, some shots actually seems truer to life on the P20 than the Pro, almost as if the Pro is doing too much with its AI despite them both utilising it.
The trade offs are the zoom functionality which doesn't compare on the regular model, battery, and OLED screen. But as the AOD is pretty garbage on the P20 Pro, I'm not hugely fussed on that.
Plus it then becomes a much better size for my tastes.
What makes it hard though, is some reviwers are saying the regular P20 camera is nowhere near as good, others are saying outside of the zoom feature, the P20 can be just as good (if not better in some cases) as the Pro.
Strange findings!
