Perpetual and sustained payments. Basically the user will never own their phone. As far as I know the user does not pay interest on the monthly installment plan, but I wonder how long that will remain the norm. If most users are forever making monthly payments, and have to start paying interest on those payments, it will be just another revenue stream for the carriers.
Buy a phone on AT&T on their payment plan and there is a $30 “activation” fee. I assume Verizon does the same. Money for nothing.

If that’s the case, if the consumer is to pay interest on monthly installments the only option is to rid themselves of cable/satellite except internet and they will have the money for the phone...boycotting certain non-essential items and being more spiritual will provide more income and perhaps more happiness than before, the world is starting to cost more than the middle class/poor can afford and they don’t have many options available to them...purchase necessities only...a shortwave radio can provide news, weather and ssb for entertainment.

The visceral news can be bypassed and in doing so when the ratings drop they may want to find out why people are not listening to them anymore and when they get a answer to that question which will be they don’t transmit what the public wants like increasing the minimum wage to what is needed to be and then they may start propagating this issue and salary may just go up if not the boycott continues until their ratings drop to zero...protesting does not work but boycotting just may do so.

What a world it will be, even now Scandinavia is starting to utilize the RFID chip to purchase items, do banking (when is the possibility of the banking industry which will start to decline removing funds do to the customer has taken out to much that week?), the proposition of agenda (2030) 21 to acquire even more from humans which includes land (natural parks), water, food and utilization of transportation systems and to hoard people into cities while the suburbs and country are used for something else.

The economy is not that good, people are magnetized to their credit cards and paying more than the item is worth, they have been led like sheep into being nothing more than cattle and to keep corporations wealthy while getting into more debt then they can pay back...it is getting to be a futile situation which the only result being disharmony and division in the family which is what the “new world order” and “one world religion” wants, a total control of family values and morality.

The future does not look as bright as to wear shades, a very dark and gloomy atmosphere something along the lines of a George Orwell and Hg Wells environment.

I’ll admit, I screen size and lack of physical home button were definitely the reasons I personally went with the 8 Plus over the X. (That and price, obviously)

But, I agree with everyone else... you’re not being forced to keep the phone & suffer. Sell it and go back to the plus sized world!

A close friend and I have been commiserating for the last few weeks. We both have had our phones for about half a year now I guess, and we both hate them. And it’s not just us, others we’ve talk to you can’t stand them as well.

The phone is too small. I am constantly hitting the side buttons during normal use and that never happened with my plus sized phones. I had to turn Siri off and that has saved me much grief, but I’m still hitting the on/off button in the middle of usage and turning the stupid thing off. Grrrrrr!

Face ID sucks for unlocking the phone, I’ll do I do quite like it in lieu of entering passwords in apps and on other sites where I am required to login, Such as this one. I much preferred unlocking the phone with my finger which I could do while the phone was laying flat on my desk. Now I have to pick it up and stare at the damn thing. Grrrrrr!

My friend says she has too many dropped calls but I never use my phone as a phone so that doesn’t happen to me.

Watching videos West better on my plus sized phones, and no matter how many times people say the screen is bigger it just isn’t. It’s a lie because in order to watch a video fullscreen you have to zoom in and then you lose some of the picture.

Switching between apps is not as easy as it used to be with a home button.

I’m sure I could name a few more but those are my main gripes.

The larger iPhone X phone that is coming is certain to alleviate some of these gripes but I honestly am going to have to think about whether I want to purchase that one or return to a Plus sized—-iPhone 9 Plus?

Ugh! I have been using iPhones since the original and I’ve loved every single one of them except this one. At this point I can’t even say that I like it.

Huge mistake.

Sorry for the typos, but you can blame Siri because she sucks ass as well.

I hate iOS, on iPhone, at least. iPads are fine. I have fatigue of the software feeling like 5 years old and the UI being the same as iOS 7. The design of the Plus series is 4 generations old. Apple epitomizes diminishing returns. I am only waiting out on WWDC to see if there is a glimmer of hope a Tim Cook led Apple could make something feature heavy and not just gimmicky like Animoji crap.

If not, I will spend my $ elsewhere and not make a MR topic about it since many people also have iOS fatigue and have shared their experiences in other topics.

So you didn't know the iPad is just a big iPhone?

No. iPhones do not do split screen apps, support Apple Pencils, utilize PiP mode, have a task bar like the iPad, etc.

The iPhone feels like a primitive device to me after seeing what Google offers.

You're*. I am actually on the right forum since I am interested in iOS 12 since I have a glimmer of hope for future important features.
I think iOS 12 is going to disappoint you. There may be a feature or two but the rumor is that it's mostly iOS 11 bug fixes.

In any case, we've had discussions before concerning the X and the camera bump so you already know where I stand here.

I was at the same point as you, but that was when the 7/7+ launched. Everything after that has only served to reinforce my opinion.

Yep, I already made the moves needed to secure a discount on the OP6 and just will wait for the Moto announcements on Tuesday before making a purchase.

First world problems, huh? :)

I don’t think you understand the concept of diminishing returns. It doesn’t not apply here.

iOS fatigue? What does that even mean?
You do realize that the smartphone sales are contracting for the first time, except for Apple, they managed to sell more smartphones.

I had love-hate relationships with X as well :) X is not a bad phone by any mean, but face ID was killing me slowly. To me Face ID was so damn slow and failing so many times, that after 3 months of use I've just given up and gave X to my wife. She is very happy, even if I see her many times (per day) unlocking her X with passcode. I think Face ID is the future, but it's really need some time for development.

But after all there is 8 Plus, so i bought a red one and start smiling again :)

Not entirely unlike the first iteration of TouchID, which was slow and error prone. It has evolved to be quite fast and reliable. I expect FaceID to follow suit, and actually be useable some day.

I’m curious how ApplePay works with FaceID at the McDonald’s drive thru... gotta hang your head out the car window, too?

Just get an Apple Watch lol. Its more discreet, you can keep it up your sleeve and it’s not face sensitive ;)

Or maybe it’s in your head ? OLED is superior to lcd and the iPhone X is no different

Not always true. I did a thorough personal review between the X, 8+ and the LCD screen on the Razer. For almost all cases, the enhanced LCD on the Razer came out better. Personal opinion.
Compared the X to the Galaxy S8 in Basic mode. The S8 came out better. Personal opinion.
Compared the X at angle and it has an inferior color shift compared to other OLED screen I have used or compared. Personal opinion.
Irrespective of the "expert" reviews (and they don't agree), the best screen is a personal opinion.
The OLED on the X could have been much better. It lacks the "wow" we were expecting. That includes TT.

Seen the razor and the OLED panel on the iPhone is better . Coming from a note 8 the OLED panel is better on the iPhone X though saturation of colors is better on the note 8 but that’s because I prefer the color saturation.

Not disagreeing at all. Like is personal. ;)
Not liking Touch Wiz, I do like the fact my roomies S8 has several settings for display quality/saturation.

The OP does make a few valid points, particularly around screen size for watching videos and the side button. I know screen size is based on diagonal measurement, but the the extra width on the plus model is very noticeable.

I switched back to my 8+ after about 6 months with the X. Here were my main reasons, which is my own personal opinion specific to my usage:

1) Screen Size (as OP mentioned) - I watch a lot of videos on my device, and it is my primary source of media consumption (with a toddler at home, TV is off limits for most hours of the day).
2) Battery - The OLED screen consumes a lot more power when being used continuously. While the results with the X weren't bad, they pale in comparison to the Plus.
3) Status Bar - This was the one thing that constantly bugged me, personally, when using the X. While I admit that it is a bit trivial, I like to be able to see the time and battery status at the top of whatever app I'm using.
4) Multitasking - I found this to not really work that well for me. Whenever I tried to switch apps by swiping the bottom of the screen, it would only work about half the time. I guess it is just muscle memory, but I am so familiar with the home button double press it is fluid for me.... again, just my opinion.

There are 2 things I do really miss from the X:

1) Face ID - I never had any problems with this in all my time using the phone. It was so fluid and natural from day 1.
2) Tap to Wake - Having already been used to this from my Apple Watch, this feature that was a nice touch. Being able to check the screen without having to press the side or home button, was surprisingly useful.

All this being said, I am really looking forward to the X+ coming out later this year. Issue numbers 1 & 2 are addressed by the phone itself. I am holding out hope that issue 3 will be solved in future software iterations (or possibly the phone itself with the extra screen real estate), and I have no doubt issue 4 will be fixed in software updates (or by finding out that I am just an idiot and am doing it wrong).

The 18:9 aspect ratio helps the because it doesn’t allow the notch to cut off any videos which are shown in 16:9. The width of the plus makes the phone ungodly to hold

2) OLED helps battery life not hurt it
