I have more than one complaint with Best Skins Ever, The top skin they sent me is undersized. No amount of stretching would apply correctly. They have also completely ignored every request for help (submitted several tickets and left them voice messages twice). The other skins (bottom, sides, trackpad, fitted fine). While they offer money back, they do not respond. I would dispute the charge, but most of the skin is Ok - only the top. Looks like they are one man operation, likely are aware they have a problem and rather not respond. I strongly advise not getting the 16" size for now (I ordered the Matte)/ Too bad about Naked skins, I am looking for a top all clear skin to replace the undersized BSE one.
BestSkinsEver has no customer service whatsoever. My top, bottom, side, trackpad, and palm rest skins fit perfectly but you need to be skilled and patient with the installation. They do require significant stretching and constant pressure to adhere to the edges properly— the install is not easy.

BodyGuardz has excellent customer service and the pieces are well cut. Unfortunately they do not offer a matte finish.

All,

I just received my Dbrand skins for my 16" MacBook Pro and as usual, they are works of art. Thanks to this forum, I have ordered Dbrand skins for my past four MacBook Pro computers, and I am seriously impressed with the quality of their product. Every cut is absolutely perfect with respect to position and quality. For example, the screw holes on the back cover line up absolutely perfectly if you install it correctly. I use all of their skins: Top case, bottom case, palm rest, and trackpad (my choice is carbon fibre orange), and everything is always perfect. I have absolutely no association with Dbrand, but I'll tell you, it would be difficult to convince me that there is a better product out there. Dbrand is absolute perfection from my experience, and I am a perfectionist.

By the way, I still put a clear case over the Dbrand skins, well... because there is something wrong with me? LOL.

Joe

Any advice on how to install the palmrest skin? My first attempt was horrendous, and while the second was better, it just seemed off since it got pulled a little by the right side.

I received my dBrand top cover skin for my 16" MBP. Went for the black 'leather' look with the apple cutout. This was because the MBP lid is prone to scratching.

I'm utterly delighted with the dBrand skin.

A bit of a faff to fit, with several attempts. But it's fitted well, looks absolutely fantastic and is easier to hold the machine. I really like the sharp feel of the edge; really in keeping with the MBP's design.

Does show my paw prints, but I'm not bothered about that.

I opted for the Apple cutout. Would be really nice if dBrand offered an Apple logo in a contrasting colour that would fit in the hole.... 'cos guess what... there's a light scratch showing on the apple logo.

Well done dBrand. A very happy customer.

I had dbrands skins on a pair of 13" 2015 Macbook Pro's. Took them off, and no residue. Orange on one, Red on the other. Looked great, and held up well. I plan on getting a skin when the new 13/14" Macbook Pro's are released.

Thank you, just be be careful not to trap dust by sticking it.

Then the effect is the same as on the old 15 inch Super Drive with the mat screen option, it "crushes" a little but in the end from my point of view it's not annoying.

to protect my screen, iVisor Moshi mat protection

..few weeks later - can I ask whether you're still happy with this?
I'm interested not so much for protecting the screen but because I always loved the matte screens Apple did back in the day.. these do seem pricey though, and also I'm wondering about loss of sharpness and colours getting dull..
so any feedback appreciated, thank you!

Does somebody own / use one of the new teardown skins from DBRAND and can comment on print quality and feel (haptics) please?
From the pictures they look kinda slippery, especially the matte ones..

Do love that design though, very tempted to get one.

Hello llllllllllllll

Yes I love my screen protection, no problem with that. :)

For Dbrand no problem to, the carbon result is soft finally.

How is the install of the palmrest? Is it difficult or what?

Hi,

Yes for the palmrest I find it complicated... the result for me:

Hi!

I just received my dbrand bamboo skin for my MacBook Pro 13' (2020) and love it!
It travelled 2 weeks all the way to Europe and I received a well designed thus nearly unflawed package.

The bright color of the bamboo skin matches up really nice with my spacegrey MacBook and has a nice contrast to the blacks on the bottom. It also mimics the bamboos haptic and adds a little bit grip to it which I really like.

This was my first dbrand skin.

The big yellow plastic cover made a nice desk pad to put the MacBook on while attaching the skin.
It took me a few attempts to line up the top skin properly but it was absolutely no issue as the adhesive can easily pulled off until it is firmly pressed to the MacBook. At first I didn't realize that I had to pull off the whole skin from the paper and than reattach it on the paper again with a small offset on both sides. I also wondered if I need to heat the top skin with a hairdryer after I finally applied it. The instruction video makes it look a bit easier than it really was for my first try on a dbrand skin.
The bottom was way easier than the top.
In total it took me about 30 minutes to finish both sides.

I will absolutely buy dbrand skins again - awesome product!

To protect my MacBook, I use a Woolnut leather sleeve. I prefer this one over the Apple leather sleeve because 2 ports are exposed and I don't need to take out the whole sleeve out of my backpack when I am working on the go.
The sleeve is slightly bulkier but the edges are way less "sharp" than on the Apple sleeve and thus more comfortable to carry for me.

Same here. They are miles above what dBrand puts out. dBrand skins actually make the device more slippery in my opinion. BestSkinsEver while not for the faint of heart while applying are the absolute best there is for using a skin. I also use the matte and use them on my phone and iPad and am waiting on the 16" release as well.
Lol they still don’t have pics for a 16” mbp on their website.

Oh.... and to answer how I protect the plastic case...

I admit, there is seriously something wrong with me.

I removed one right before I sold it. It had been on about nine months. Absolutely no residue whatsoever.

By the way, if you follow theYouTube video put out by Dbrand, it is difficult to screw up. The most important part is the initial edge placement. Once that is perfect, everything lines up perfectly.

Where did you get the cloth that is covering the keyboard?

Is there any risk of screen damage using the cloth and closing the screen on it? I've read that camera covers can damage the screen because of their additional thickness.

I'm asking because I am worried that overtime the keyboard will leave permanent marks on the screen, and I'd like to avoid that!

Thanks.

I’m in the same ship as you. Looking at getting a keyboard cloth to prevent marring on screen over time. The other alternative that I researched was a screen protector and the only two that came across was the Moshi or Speigen glass one. The Moshi one is held by magnets apparently and has an anti reflective coating which causes slight reduction in image sharpness which I’m not keen about. The Spiegen tempered glass one apparently has glue only on the edges so it won’t damage the delicate MBP screen coating but it’s like a mirror according to 1 star reviews which I only read from Amazon these days.

The one I have (Moshi iVisor) has no "magnets".
There's a few millimeters of black (that lines up with the bezels around the screen) which has some sort of adhesive.
You can see this well on the images on their site: https://www.moshi.com/de/product/ivisor-16-for-macbook-pro-16/black-clear-matte
As with all anti reflective coatings / screens there is a slight "haze" compared to the screen without a protector on. It' much like the old MacBook Pro's with the matte display.
I noticed the difference a lot the first few days, but have since completely forgotten about it.
I do appreciate the image is much more uniform in various lighting conditions, it's really nice on the eyes.

Thanks for the clarification. Does the adhesive around the bezels cause and damage or discoloration to the MBP screen when removed ?

@Limeybastid ..I don't think so. Frankly I had just left it on since I got it, but just peeled / lifted up a corner and the screen seems not affected the slightest.

It's not really a sticky, glue-y type of adhesive, I would not worry about it at all.

Skins for the new 14” & 16” M1 MacBook Pro’s are now available for pre-order. I’m curious. Does the trackpad cover impede functionality at all? I think I’d rather use the skins instead of a case this time. And a sleeve for travel. Thanks ahead of time!

I am so happy you guys are very happy with Dbrands. I read all the great reviews and I tried them for my 12.9 iPad pro M1 and the fit was awful. Dbrands contacted me because I left a poor review. They asked me to send pics, which I did, and admitted the fit was wrong. They sent me a new set and guess what? Same poor fit. I emailed them back and asked for a refund and it fell on deaf ears. I have no faith in the brand.. Happy you guys did better, enjoy.
