Update regarding my problems with iCloud not syncing my messages all of my messages. I did a clean install of my test phone (iPhone 8) today and setup the phone as new. After signing in to iCloud, all of my messages were successfully downloaded after about 3 hours - so that's great news for me. However, I still have issues with both the size of my backup to iCloud and the size of the messages conversations in iCloud Storage/Manage Storage/Messages/Conversations. They do not match.

Also, I discovered that the attachments in my messages are not in the right order (did a comparison messages to messages on my other iPhone 8).

I have updated the wiki accordingly =)

I have seen that same sort of thing when testing a new device. It would sync all of the messages in iCloud with the attached images being in a weird order when you look into a thread’s information pane. The issue that I never saw resolved has been that when I first started on 11.3 my iPad and iPhone had messages on them, but not the same ones. Even after they both synced to iCloud the iPad never all the messages that was on the phone. A new device would get all of those messages upon signing in and waiting, usually an hour or two. I’ve reported the behavior to Apple, it’s been pretty consistent throughout the betas.

Thanks for the info. Have you updated the wiki regarding your issue?

Why do apple push out new betas when there still is remaning issues from other betas left?

I really hope 11.3 will be out soon, but rather wait one more month to fix everything.

When 11.3 comes out, will imessage really work fine with icloud syncing? Its beta 5 and still problems?
To feed those hungry fanatics, and satisfty their beta-lust.
It’s quite strange that something worked fine in the previous version has so many issues when they are relaunching it.
Beta is not meant for continuous improvement. It’s for testing and collecting diagnostic data from customers.

Really want to try out this beta... but I’m very anal about my messages.. I have close to 30 gigs on my phone. And don’t want to lose anything.

Some users still reporting not all messages get sync across iCloud devices as yet. With 30GB, you may need at least tier 2 50GB iCloud storage to be able to completely backup them to iCloud. You must have 2-factor authentication and iCloud backup enable to work properly. Suggest you wait for final/RC version or public release if you don’t want to lose any valuable messages.

I got the camera hang on this beta. Couldn’t even swipe up to go back. Had to lock phone then unlock for it to resume.

On a positive note I believe the animation for unlocking to the home screen has improved. There’s now a longer, softer bounce back of the home screen icons.

I posted an updated a few hours ago regarding my syncing issues. All my messages is now being synced and I updated the wiki - both on remaining and new issues.

Question, you wrote that he had to have 250 GB of iCloud storage in order to completely backup 30 GB of messages? What did you mean by that? Or did I misinterpret?

Didn't see this mentioned in the notes or in this thread but I thought there was going to be some sort of method to disable any potential cpu throttling due to battery weakness. I see the battery health beta and shows I have 94% maximum capacity on my iPhone 7 and says it is supporting normal peak performance. Sounds good. Does some magic on/off switch appear when it drops to throttle territory? Curious is all as that was a big deal when it first hit the fan and Apple had to back peddle a bit and throw us a bone. I like the battery health thingie tho

94 so your battery is good ! You are not being throttledand therefor don’t need a switch

Am I the only one who’s x keeps shutting down the settings app or the app gets hung when trying to view storage?

Seems that Apple has implemented some sort of weird throttle when device battery drops below a certain point (50% or so) regardless of battery health. My game performance takes a major hit by such throttle and reaches the level of nearly unplayable (laggy all over the place, slow response). Restarting the game does not help at all.

I’ve had this happen in the past couple of betas with game performance, but couldn’t correlate it to battery %. I’ll have to test it out.

After a while, my game runs in full performance despite the battery being lower than 40%. Strange. Gonna keep an eye on it.

How did you go with installing the profile on your Mac etc as requested by Apple ?

I'm having an issue today where after 10mins or so of playing music through AirPods the music will go off but continues through the song on my phone. I thought that bug has been fixed!

I only installed the call logging on my iOS device and not on my MacBook Pro. I did however use the MBP to sync both phones in order to retrieve the sysdiagnose-files.

OK its just Apple would monitor all syncing if you had installed it on both iOS and Mac to understand where the problem is or was but it sounds like its working much better for you now !

from what I am seeing this beta is not ready for primetime at all. There are way too many small bugs but still bugs nonetheless across the OS
