Ok, then why have a different policy for releasing the GM to beta testers for major/minor/service releases? Certainly the contents of the major releases are more confidential/sensitive than the minor ones.
I’m confused. Maybe you misread what I said. I said there aren’t GMs for non X.0 builds. Apple has never once called the final beta a GM. GM is only ever mentioned for X.0 builds.
Right, but what you said wasn't a naming thing. You said the final beta is likely not the public release. Regardless of whether you name it GM or not, why have a different policy for releasing that final build to your testing community? (it doesn't make a lot of sense) Heh. Likely a question Madscotsman could ask his Cupertino connection.

The only thing we know with a bit more confidence than guessing is this:
Wouldn't we expect the 11.1 public release to be on the 3rd when the X is available publicly? Seems the most likely to me.
Did those that were testing Apple Pay Cash indicate if everything's working as designed in Beta4?

Well, Apple released iOS 11.0 three days before the 8 went on sale, so maybe they'll release 11.1 on Halloween?
11.1 final won’t be released next week. It’s been mentioned a few times by Madscotsman now.
I was hoping for 11.1.0 tomorrow or Tuesday. So when’s the public release supposed to drop? The following week? Also, on the newest beta did they reintroduce the hard swipe right to force close apps? I’m tired of the double home button tap. It’s so stupid.
You mean the 3D Touch shortcut to enter the app switcher? Yes, that is already there in the betas.
Sounds like it's coming after this week.
Seems like a post like that would need to have more information in it.
Are public releases usually different from final betas? Sorry but I don’t pay close attention to build numbers
