If I recall correctly, Apple Music was introduced at the March Event. Thus it would be 3 months. Apple Music was part of iOS 8.4 and that went into beta on April 13, 2015 and the GM shipped June 30th.

And it doesnt matter if it was introduced at WWDC 2017, because iOS doesnt even ship until 3 months later.
Apple Music was introduced at WWDC 2015 as the “one more thing” on June 8th. It launched 3 weeks later on June 30th with 8.4. Obviously each major release comes out 3 months after it’s announced at WWDC, but you are trying to compare the iOS 11 feature delay with Apple Music’s 3 week launch after announcement timeframe. Not comparable.

I would be very surprised if messages on iCloud will be included in the 11.4 release. There are way too many things not working. For instance, when you setup the phone as new, all message threads and attachments are not being restored. Also, the size of the messages on iCloud, iCloud storage and iCloud Storage/Conversations does not match at all. If the feature is released... well then I am losing my faith in the quality of Apples software =)

This is one of the reasons that I plan to archive my message library (on my Mac) and start with a clean slate before enabling iCloud Messages.

There just seem to be too many problems importing existing messages and synchronizing everything, and I don't trust it. I'm not the sentimental sort to go back through messages from years ago, but I feel better knowing I have an archive if I absolutely must find something again.

Okay. My mistake. I was misremembering when Apple Music was announced. If you reread my posts, I was explicitly stating a 3 month separation as the comparison, not 3 weeks. I do think 3 months and 9 months are comparable. Even to a small extent.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need/want to keep your messages for so long? Most of them are just simple bits of information, becoming irrelevant a few days or weeks later. Or do you use them for work/business stuff? Then emails might do a better job, as you keep the whole exchange thread there automatically.

It’s been out for a while.

I'm thinking another beta was delayed is apple is fixing some last minute stuff. Whether it be icloud messages, security issues or what not. I thought for sure another beta would be released last week.

I hope iOS 12 has zero design changes and features. I just want a focus on performance and battery life for once.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but for Apple to release zero new features in iOS 12 would be a bad move, in my opinion. I'd love an iOS version that was actually focused on bug fixes.
