I want new features as well as no crippling bugs in iOS 12. I feel entitled to both because every year I buy their phones and company with the size and profits like Apple can definitely afford to keep few hundred more software engineers. All the new space in the spaceship is not gonna fill up by itself.

People here should stop apologising on behalf of Apple and start demanding stuff.

No new build today?

Today is Memorial Day-a national holiday in the US. Highly unlikely anything today. Tomorrow is a good bet.

Re “demanding” stuff from Apple: don’t you think that with their cash hoard, if they could deliver both reliability and new features each year with a few hundred more engineers, they would? Perhaps you haven’t noticed the intense competition for good software engineers in Silicon Valley? Throwing more money at the problem is not going to fix things.

Perhaps the problem is a consuming public that demands things on a timescale that is aggressive, at best.

I hope iOS 12 has zero design changes and features. I just want a focus on performance and battery life for once.
Remember how iOS 9 was more or less along those lines with not much that changed as far as design goes?

That's true but iOS 8 was one of their best releases imo and they took liberties with iOS 9. Apple knows iOS 11 was crap, so now we should get a functional iOS 12

Money only does so much. All software in the world will have bugs. Bug-free software is literally impossible. People want Apple to release new stuff all the time, that comes with consequences. It’s merely a balancing test.

Absolutely disagree. Dark mode in iOS.... since how long are we asking for? Yet Apple blatantly turns a blind eye towards it and introduces several useless features. Dark mode is THE single biggest feature needed if one wants to use their iDevices when lights are off at night.

We have reached a point where we don't know what we want because most of the features we think we want are already there. So I welcome whatever new Apple has cooked in their iOS 12. But I would also be disappointed if we get 1-2 new features and rest of the stuff is just under the hood optimization. iOS 11 is almost stable enough for me.

That is entirely your opinion. I have never once wanted dark mode and I will never use it if it’s inplemented. I use the triple click reduce brightness for dark rooms at night. I’ve been using this for years now without a single problem.

Will be interesting to see if it drops tomorrow.

If not tomorrow, my guess is then it's released on the first day of WWDC.

Dark mode is bliss. Microsoft has implemented it systemwide now in their Windows 10 Redstone builds for Insiders. Even the file manager has dark mode. Its coming to iOS eventually as Apple runs out of new ideas.

You and a minority of total users care about this, I believe. And another minority cares about Apple Pencil support, and another minority wants greater A/R integration, etc., and you begin to see the problem.

Good luck with that. Remember, you bought a device for what it did, not for what you want it to do in the future. We all want the OS to evolve, but it's up to Apple to set the direction... and it's our prerogative, as customers, to accept what they offer, or to look for another option. If you consider this an apology, so be it... it's also the truth.

Again. Opinion. I can’t read white on black text. Gives me an instant migraine.

I'm thinking more options are better than less, would just be nice to have the option for those who like it . Always been my biggest IOS gripe, not enough options, to locked up. How about an adjustable background going from say, black to white with all shades I'm between? I know choices Apple doesn't give those out much.

And there’s a reason for that: more options means more complexity. More complexity means more possible bugs. And then we end up where we are now. If you want all these things, Android’s probably a better bet for you.

I hope Apples version of a dark mode has no pure black elements. The OLED smear on pure black interfaces makes me dizzy.

LMAO. Dude you talk as if Dark Mode will be the only option. Of course there will also be Light mode like we have today.

Have you used Windows 10? You can enable/disable dark mode with flick of a switch.

The dark mode is so much relaxing for night reading. Most websites I visit have a permanent dark mode enabled and it works perfectly for me. I wish MacRumors also develops a Dark skin.

Ontopic: I hope we get a Golden Master build today.
