No visual voicemail on 14.2 starting back a few betas

So no way to know if a message is there unless I see a missed call and manually dial in to VM to check

A reboot fixes temporarily but then the issue comes back eventually

On ATT

My wife has the same problem

Lol, clock widget still doesn’t work
I had it working for a time with the last 14.1.x update, but with 14.2 it died again.
Its one thing when a 3rd party app widget may not work as anticipated, but when Apple manages to bugger their own apps, that takes a certain indifference.

Yanked off the homescreen again. Sigh.

Memory leakage is really bad in iOS 14.
Apps are constantly reloading
My experience has been quite the opposite on my 12 Pro. I’ve been going the entire day without closing any apps, and find that I tend to have 12-15 apps open and am still able to get at them from where I left off many many hours ago. Bank apps and stuff still prompt to sign in again, but other apps and games are still ready to go. I’ve been very impressed. Maybe it’s the hardware not the software?

You've got 6GB ram compared to 4GB ram in the XS and 11

Or it’s the various apps. Many apps have automatic “time outs” built into them and I’m not just referring to the security in banking and financial apps. Keeps the apps servers more balanced. Every phone out there is different re apps used. In general I have no issues.

That's what I'm saying. From my prior experience on the 11 Pro Max, that phone was horrible. Almost as bad as the XS Max. I had Cellular & Wireless connection issues on both phones from the get-go, and both were Intel. Again, really happy with the 12 Pro. Some things can be fixed with a Software Update, some things can't...

Exactly. I do find that the Google Classroom app and the rest of the Google Suite of apps always prompt to sign in again and again.. I know it's easy to say in one quick sentence, but devs need to optimize their apps to work on the different devices.

I think 14.2 is worse than 14.1
iPhone XS

Any other devices you've tried it with or just that one?

That sucks

14.1 is still signed though if you have a 14.1 -dated backup, and want to restore to it. Just grab the ipsw from ipsw.me for your device , hold option with restore button in macOS/iTunes, and point to that file.

backups from when 14.2 is on the device won't work though, so you'll lose a few days of data.

I just put 14.2 on my iPad Pro 2017 12.9, from iOS 13.5

havent noticed memory issues yet, and that one has 4gb of ram as well. but iPadOS may be different than iOS, even though same core version.

I think its across the board with any device running 4GB or less Ram

Apple has always been very stingy with Ram
The new IPad Air is also restricted to 4GB Ram

14.2 is definitely worse with RAM management on my 11 Pro. 14.1 was pretty solid. Hopefully there is a 14.2.1 patch coming soon to fix this and the messaging bug a lot of people are seeing.

Is anyone else seeing a change in how mail is shown in the Apple mail app? Since this last update, any email with two words shows backward. For example, I have a Google Alert email sent each day. Usually, it shows in the preview screen as just that, but now is showing "Alerts Google". Wireless Verizon instead of Verizon Wireless, etc...

Looks like someone else is reporting the same issues here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/name-display-in-mail-issue-since-14-2.2266544/
Yes! Super annoying. Display name in Inbox is pretty basic! Such sloppy work on Apple’s part.

Not a bug, but I am curious.

Am I the only one who would LOVE an apps grid so that I can place my apps on the screen without them having to be in L to R, top to bottom order?

For example, group three in a row at the top and on the bottom row have one in the far left position and one in the far right position.

This is all I’ve wanted from iOS for the past decade. Can’t fathom why Apple won’t do this.

Do a bit more in depth later....

11 Pro Max
Siri: Will at times print on the screen instead of using voice.
Mail: Mismatch between badge, Unread Total, and totals on accounts.
Messages: Notifications don't always play if the device is locked.
App Library: Every non-Apple stock app is in Recently Added.
App Library: Big three in each folder are frequently seldom used apps.
Widgets: more later .... grrr......
AirPods Pro: When switching to AirPods from Speaker on call the other party frequently hears a squeal.

IPP 11 2020
AirPods Pro: Listening to IPP with Airpods, Airpods will sometimes jump to 11PM when unlocked.
Mail: New can suddenly appear in the midst of reading others kicking you out from your place in the mail list.
Mail: same issues with count as 11 PM.
Mail: Unrfead count and account count don’t match emails listed in view (status) See below.
Messages: non-iMessage messages will not forward from 11 ProMax.
Safari: tabs show from 11 PM that have been closed.
Magic Keyboard: Onscreen keyboard will popup when Magic Keyboard is attached and active.

8 Plus

14.2 has improved battery life but has made animations on my iPhone XS Max stutter a lot . Also causes this weird line to appear in safari when scrolling . This was after a fresh install using an ipsw file . The first 2 days the animations were stuttering a lot but now seems to have reduced but still present . There were no animation stutters in iOS 14.1 but battery life was pretty bad on the XS max

Updated my XS to 14.2 on Monday night. Ever since the "location services" icon is on but not showing anything is being accessed. I checked privacy settings and the only items that I have using location services are google maps and find my iPhone.

If I disable location services, it obviously goes away. re-enable and it comes back. I've tried a "hard reset" but still same issue.

Didn't have this issue at all previously.

**EDIT** Reset privacy/location services to factory settings and its gone.

Hi everyone.

I'm still using iOS 13 on my iPhone 11. I'm not really taken by any of these new iOS 14 features. Just want to check, if I did upgrade to iOS 14, could I keep my home screen exactly as it is in iOS 13? I've no interest in widgets, customisable app icons or the app library. Is it possibe to turn the app library off? I only have two pages of apps and a couple of folders. Basically, I'm just happy with how things are but assume I'll need to upgrade to 14 at some point. Whether I go beyond that though, to 15, I don't know.

No you cannot turn the App Library off but I went from 13.7 to 14.2 at the weekend and have not seen any downside.

If iOS 13.whatever is working for you, by all means stay there as long as you want. If you went to iOS 14.whatever, your Home Screen would be just the same as it was before your upgrade. You do have the option to add widgets to your Home Screen, and your current (if any) widgets in your farthest left Home Screen will be there for you. Some of those will most likely be updated.
