I'm going with next Wednesday/Thursday, just before the new devices are available. This is in line with what's happened for previous iOS releases in line with new devices.

14 only came close after the GM due to the new watch being available 2 days later.

My guess is 14.1 will come out today or this week to all, mainly because its a bug fix release to existing phones without any major new features.
Next week around the time devices drop will be an 14.1.1 type of update primarily for 12 series.
Lets see what happens!

I agree. Perhaps on Thursday 10/15 since that's a common release day.

Looks like nothing today

Aye, 9to5mac usually would have said. Looks like it's going to be next week, on the Wednesday/Thursday before new iPhones come out, just like all the old releases for new iPhones :)

Think about it, they have no rush to get 14.1 out, as existing phones have 14.0 already, so why put it out this week?

Again, considering this post from Macrumors, I would assume that what was released to us in the form of the iOS 14.1GM is not the same as what's in iOS 14.1 version installed on the iPhones 12 & 12 Pro currently sitting in boxes or being boxed up now. The version of iOS 14.1 initially sent out for the new phones some time ago has none of the updates & bug fixes present in the version of iOS 14.1 we got in the GM. That leads me to believe that we'll see iOS 14.1 as a public release either today or tomorrow, and then an iOS 14.1.1 release next week, maybe a week from today, that will be offered directly when setting up our new iPhones next Friday. Aren't there rumors about the new iPads being available the 23rd, as well? Those would be in the same boat...

The GM version of 14.1 is only 2 builds newer than 14.0.1. It's unlikely there's much of anything new in there aside from compatibility with the iPhone 12s and iPad Air.

That's my point. The build of iOS 14.1 currently on the iPhone 12 & 12 Pro is probably way older than the build of the iOS 14.1 GM that was released (initially under the "Release" tab and then corrected and listed under "Beta") on the Dev Portal. The iPhone 12 & 12 Pro will need the updates & bug fixes made available since those devices were boxed up. A 14.1.1 release being offered next week will bring all devices up to par.

This is the same build that ships on the new iPhones and it‘ll hit next week.

If the build on the new iPhones was older than this GM, it wouldn‘t be 14.1 but 14.0.x.
Anyone hoping for a magic release situation like that will get a reality check on launch day. The most you can hope for is a 14.1.1 some time after the new phones launch.
