I’m guessing at this point they’re just planning on releasing 14.2 with the horrible Messages keyboard lag and the missing share sheet contacts bug.

Sweet.

Sweet.

Might get fixed with the GM build.

Mind you, might not, not like it wouldn't be the first time they release with some bugs outstanding, then mop up in a x.x.1 release, once they get the last of the new devices out & can focus on bugs.

Also, those 2 issues seem to only be affecting a small % of the users, so maybe it's not high up on their list.

Yeah, I’ve become quite used to the “unfinished” releases from Apple.

The share sheet contacts bug, while annoying, certainly isn’t a top priority. However, I’ve had many friends complain about the Messages keyboard lag bug...and these aren’t hardcore Apple fans who post on message boards and follow leaks and whatnot...just real world users who are rightfully annoyed with this current bug.

Hope it gets sorted out soon.

Might not even get a GM build, just public release when apple thinks it’s ready. there isn’t always a GM build for every .x release.

for example: 13.2 beta 4 last year went to public release a week later. that beta 4 was also a A build.

They therefore could push out 14.2 next week and start 14.3 in first week of November if we going off last years 13.2 release. Yes I know we just got 14.1 this week but anything is possible.

I’m thinking 14.3 beta in early November and released in December with Apple Fitness +

I’m concerned that people receiving the new iPhone won’t be able to use their backups due to not running 14.2 beta. I’m one of them. Fingers crossed they do.

Couldn't you just add the 14.2 beta to the new phone? Or has apple not built it yet for the new devices?

As long as Apple releases a profile/build for it, yes. In recent years they have, I believe twice now the day after new phones were out and another time the day before.

I think we might see ios 14.2 GM as early as tomorrow or any day within the week. We might also see iOS 14.2 Final as early as tomorrow or any day now. Expect the unexpected when it comes to apple.

I don’t think so 14.1 only just came out, my guess is they will launch for the 12 pro max in a few weeks

Like i said, expect the unexpected. it may or it may not. if we will follow the timings and the features "coming later this year" in the apple website, iOS 14.3 needs to start testing for it to be released before the holiday in December.

iOS 14.3 may contain:

  1. Camera support for scanning an App Clip code will be made available in an iOS 14 software update later this year.
  2. Privacy information on the App Store will be coming in an iOS 14 update later this year.
  3. 5G Support for Dual Sim mode.
  4. Support for Apple One
  5. Other bugs?? iPhone 12 related?
not unless these are included in iOS 14.2 which as far as I can see with the current ios 14.2 beta, they are not included.

iOS 14.3 beta **may** start testing as early next week with iOS 14.2 GM this week wth release next week or no iOS 14.2 GM and just release it this week. anything can happen especially how apple just surprises us.

iOS 14.2 GM next week, public release the following week.

Probably see a beta for 14.3 the week of the 9th at the earliest.

With your points....:
1. I’m sure that was in as part of 14.0
2. I’m also sure that is already in, it just got disabled in the 14.0 beta period, from what I remember, so they just have to re-enable it, so won’t need much.
3. Probably 14.3.
4. Not 100% sure that needs a point release, as it’s just an App Store subscription, it won’t be something we would see in a beta tho.
5. All releases include bug fixes, and there is possibly going to be a 14.2.1 with some bug fixes. iPhone 12 Pro Max and Mini will most likely come with 14.2 on it, as it just makes sense.

Are you sure that the below is already included in 14.0?

  1. Camera support for scanning an App Clip code will be made available in an iOS 14 software update later this year.
  2. Privacy information on the App Store will be coming in an iOS 14 update later this year.

Because I am 100% sure during the last beta of ios 14.0 as i was looking for them, they were removed thats why in the Apple Page for ios 14, it is still mentioned as "will be available in the software update".i believe it will be a big change especially for developers as they need to update their app details to have those.

For Apple One, especially Apple Fitness, the framework or the code needs to be in iOS 14 for it to work. It's not true, that its because "it's just a subscription" it does not need a point release, remember Apple Music was introduced iOS 8.4 and Apple News + in ios 12.2?

Apple Fitness +:

  1. Apple Fitness+ requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or later. Available when paired with an iPhone 6s or later with an iOS 14 software update available later this year.
All of the above are software update available later this year.

Anyway, these are just my speculations. :)

If they hold last weeks builds as a the releases until the mini and max and come out, that means almost three weeks that they are hold. I have this funny feeling the max and mini are coming with 14.1 as well. Then 14.2 is to fix all of the major bugs they couldn’t get in before they had to load the software. So basically the max and mini get a day one upgrade to 14.2. Just a theory but it seems like a while to hold software otherwise. It wouldn’t surprise me if we get a GM developers this week and a GM public next week though.....

Same. I have this feeling that iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max will be in iOS 14.1 with iOS 14.2 (for download) from day 1 of availability.

Like what happened with iPad Air. iPad Air contains iPadOS 14.0 on it but with iPadOS 14.1 (for download) from day 1 of availability.

expect the unexpected :D

As I said, number 2 was in the early beta's and the toggle was disabled in the beta that came out the week of the announcement it was being delayed after there was a lot of people kicking off (I'll find the details in a bit). The functionality is in there, just that it's not enabled, therefore it's not much for them to just re-enable the toggle.

My apologies about the Camera for App Clips, I was not aware that wasn't in there already, but that wouldn't be much of a thing to implement, not sure it's in 14.2, so probably 14.3.

Regarding Apple One, Apple One itself is a subscription tier, along the lines of the iCloud subscriptions, etc.

Apple Fitness+ is not the same as Apple One. You never stated Apple Fitness+ in your original post, if you had said that, I would have pointed out that Apple News+ wasn't in the beta for 13.2 though.

All good. But it still applies, even it it's a subscription, the underlying code needs to be there. So there will be a software update to include it.

Apple One comprises of different services. For it to work, the other components needs to be available. It's All or Nothing. In this case it's Apple Fitness +

This has been the case in the past subscriptions (e.g. Apple Music in iOS 8.4). Even apple pay needs a certain .x release to enable it to some countries. (They included the Country Code in a .X release and then enable it later in the server. My friend works in a bank and he said this is how it works.).

Apple News+ was included in iOS 12.2 - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209084

It's in the iOS 12.2 beta. I am 100% sure as I saw it during the beta test but only available in certain countries.
