What means „a“ build? Are the final release or RC near?

An 'a' build is a glorified build that enjoys a special status on these forums since a year or two now. Do not remember how it started, but now it doesn't seem to end just yet.

An 'a' build does not mean final or release is near. Release is when they choose to. We have had 'h' and maybe even 'i' builds released, if I am not wrong here.

New Watch beta, too..

Slightly off topic. Do those running 14.5 beta restore to the final public release once it’s out?

I install final release (unless latest beta is the final version) and remove beta profile to come out of the beta cycle for that particular release

Extremely unlikely that we would get an RC 2 days after a beta.

Youtubers just click baiting.
Considering we got beta 4 on a Monday, it’s totally possible Apple could find an issue and release another update this week. With a potential impact on security with the unlocking w/ Apple Watch feature, I’m sure they want to get that right for the masses. Not to mention all of the other bug fixes in place.

Also, this was “beta 4” not “RC1”. They could always release “beta 5” at some point.

What were the issues you encountered?
I’ve had a few CarPlay issues. I have a Chevy Impala and there are times when I connect my iPhone and it’s not recognized at all. Some times I’m having to reconnect 2-3 times until it works. Some times rebooting the phone, and some times I’m having to actually stop the car and put it in park and open the door (?), but it eventually connects.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve also had issues with my car’s steering wheel controls for track forward & back. I could be in the middle of listening to a song in the Music app and then press my steering wheel’s next track button, and then the actual car stereo starts playing the “next” song on another source/input, which is a connected USB thumb drive, ALONG with the still playing same song in the Music app = two songs playing at the same time. This issue seems new since iOS 14.5 beta 2 and continues thru to beta 4.

With most people still working from home, I’m sure there’s been less feedback reported re CarPlay issues. I know I’ve been driving way less for sure.

Except some disconnections sometimes (on wireless CarPlay) I don't have any issue.

It's likely another beta or RC will drop this week.

I disagree. We’ve had Monday releases before and its rarely, if ever led to a second release that week.

The only time I recall that have had a second release within the same week, was cos the earlier release was pulled.

So, don’t get your hopes up. I’m not saying it definitely won’t happen, just statistically it’s more likely that it won’t happen.

Possible, but not likely.

We could have a beta 5, but since new devices are around the corner, I would reckon the next release will be the RC.
