I think RC this week, public release next week 23.03. after the Apple event. Because AirTags is only usable with 14.5.

Most likely if their is a event people won’t be hands on with the products day of the event. I would say much like the past it would be end of week or the first part of the following week. So RC or public release is certainly possible, but it doesn’t feel like it would be product dependent. So I would say RC or public early next week around the event.

This! ^ I think a little too many of us on this channel feel it's cool to be reckless and just drop OS updates without a regular cadence. Granted, the days in which Apple has been dropping updates has been erratic of late, they're still not the type to just drop OS update after OS update too quickly (like how some predicted a 14.5 Beta update last week after the 14.4.1 update). The last time Apple dropped OS updates like mad - iOS 13, and that was a massive $hlt show.

Still thinking RC next week too, finalized 3/30 (or 30.3)

What means „a“ build? Are the final release or RC near?
Some here seem to think the builds work their way back from a higher letter to an "a" then bam release. Actually it is only the revision/commit of THAT particular build. So a "c" would mean they had 3 revisions or commits of that build before signing off and releasing it. So potentially an "h" build could have one minor change and be a single commit on the next build making it an "a" since it gets a new build revision number. As well as an "h" could be a final and be released since no further changes may be needed.

I'm going with RC next week. If the event is next week, probably pre-orders next Friday for devices to arrive Friday after, meaning public release of 14.5 the week of the 29th.

Just not likely we are getting an RC in the same week as the last beta.

I wonder what will happen with the update as there isn’t an event or if it’s in April maybe more betas until then as airtags will need to be announced before the update comes out

Don’t see why they have to wait for the event, if the update is ready, release it. ?‍♂️

I think they wait because often times, the new software releases will contain references to unreleased features and/or products.

Sure, those things are sometimes in the betas as well as we know from many articles on this site, but Apple doesn't want to hang a lampshade on those things by putting them in a mass public final release before an event—most people don't follow this stuff as closely as we do.

It would make sense to give people notice and plan to be there in person, but do they need to send out a press release for a virtual event?
