never have they released different version number of iOS and macOS in the same week. That will unsync the versions over a period of time.
It...does...not...matter.

They are completely different operating systems. They could release them at different times of the year if they chose to do so. The fact that they do not speaks more to the retail buying cycle (Christmas) than anything else.

Theoretically you are correct.
But I don't think that has happened.

Seeing as iOS 13 came out 19th September and macOS Catalina came out 7th October, shows that really, that doesn't matter.
Again I agree that it does not matter.
But different beta versions at the same time for different OSs (macOS and iOS) has not happened.

Didn’t the last couple years’ official macOS release 3 or so weeks after iOS was released?

The final versions of iOS and macOS can have different dates.
I am saying- when did different beta versions of macOS and iOS be out concurrently in a single week.
for example, when did beta 4 of iOS and beta 3 of macOS be released concurrently in a single week.

Hmmm...what else is different about 2020 that might explain this?

Nah, there's been years where they have not been in sync. For instance, Catalina went up to Dev Beta 10, but iOS only went to Dev Beta 8. iOS 13 Beta 7 came out 15th August, iOS 13 Beta 8 came out 21st August & macOS Catalina Beta 7 came out 28th August that year. So there is precedent.

So, although not released the same week, there's definitely no explicit needs for the beta versions to be released in sync.

The Jon Prosser of software release dates has spoken, nothing to see here anymore, move along lads. 😂

I’m all for a delayed release if it means they continue working on iOS & iPadOS, making them better than they currently are. Also assume more people will upgrade to the public beta in the week or two before whenever it is released. Lots of people wait until then, and hopefully they all submit their feedback, too.

Since 13.7 beta has been released. its public release will be there in a couple of weeks.
It means that the 14 public release is not expected shortly in September.
Because if 14 is in the near pipeline, then no point is pushing 13.7 beta.

Chances are 13.7 gets no more betas because it doesn‘t have a beta build number, it already has a full / final build number.

I see this coming out either this Monday or Wednesday (as we should get iOS 14 DB7 Tuesday), or possibly the week after.

I'm guessing they will do an event for the phones and watches together, with the watches being available to order straight after, for delivery the week after, on the Friday, and give a date in October for the phones.

I'd guess that iOS 14 GM has to be 2 weeks later than 13.7 minimum, with public release a week later. Seeing as we don't have any official Apple event information for the watches yet, I think we're 3 weeks away from GM.

Meh, that's my current thinking anyway. I expect to be wrong.......

Sooooo going off Jon Prosser recent leak, we can expect iOS 14 to drop then? 👇

I'm not on twitter, but I guess the only way Apple would do the watches & iPads via a press release would be if there's no real changes other than battery life, surely? If all the rumours about the new iPad Air being more like the Pros in design, then I am not totally convinced those would be via press release.

If what Jon is saying is right, then that means Apple would release 13.7 this week and 14 next week, which just doesn't make sense...... Unless he means they get announced the week of the 7th? He's not specific about whether he means they are announced or released, unlike with the phones.

Apple Watch series 5 delayed shipping 19d and iPad Air delayed shipping 1 week. 🤔😁

Hopefully the iPhone 11 pros get delayed soon as well. 😁😂
