I am constantly amazed at how many versions of the "truth" float around (including from me). Key reason why eyewitness testimony is not considered particularly reliable.

I will say this: last year I proposed a thread where we kept track of when betas were first released for testing. The amount of abuse I got for that was unnerving. And yet, we really don't have a good database of the beginning date of each beta, just the release date

My money is on Today, but if not Wednesday the latest. Definitely seeing this week.......We'll see!

Definitely hoping it's today, and most importantly I'm hoping the update will include the ability to change the default browser and mail apps. Oooooh Pleeeeease!!!

But that doesn’t show the relationship of Public Beta release timing to the developer beta. That is the main question above.

Like others have said, I believe the first public beta is typically DB2 and released no earlier than a week later and then moved to a 1-2 day post DB beta release and then “later same day” schedule for the last month.

Is there a similar chart with this info?

Same here! I'd also love to see widgets auto-update more frequently and reliably than they currently do. And hopefully the storage bug is fixed too.

Only an hour and a half to go.

Actually, I turned the auto-update off on the widgets. I agree they don't update very reliably. An update would be most welcomed.

I think it’s coming tomorrow. Just a gut feeling.

Also don’t want to set myself up for disappointment, lol

Yeah, I'm usually of that thinking, but today I wanna believe lol

Sorry, I think I may have misunderstood. Do you mean the widget stacks? That's what I thought you meant. If not, sorry.
No worries! I meant the widgets themselves, not stacks. I've noticed the Fitness widget rarely updates unless I open it for a few seconds first, which defeats the purpose of a widget. That's what I was wanting fixed.

I don't use widget stacks. :)

I see. I don’t have a chart, but I typically just go through the archived macrumors articles to get that info.

I just checked, and for iOS 11, 12 and 13, the public beta came out 1 week after developer beta 2 and was the same build.

Developer beta 2 was either Monday or Tuesday releases and the public seemed to come on Mondays. Hope that helps.

Where is this setting? I haven't found it. Maybe turning it off will help my battery life.

I see, I've noticed that with the Weather widget. I have to open it to get it to update. Which is a real pain. I agree, I hope that is fixed, and as you say, it defeats the purpose of a widget.

I'm sure it will get fixed in the next beta. It seems like a fairly simple fix.

Other than widgets not auto-updating and the storage bug, I don't have many complaints for this beta. Let's hope beta 2 is the same. I don't want to jinx it though. o_O

Absolutely, this beta is the most reliable that I've experienced in years. Last year I can't tell you the amount of times iOS crashed on my phone. And the bugs we have this year aren't causing me to pull my hair out, so that's good lol. But as you say, let's not jinx it ?

Likely wont happen as it likely requires apps to be updated after reviewed by Apple to be eligible to be set to default ( Federighi said that is how it would work on a podcast, they dont just want any app claiming default email or a browser).

Meaning in the fall when 14 is released.

Totally agree. I’ve got some absurd amount of apps installed on my iPhone (595?!?) and other than ONE SpringBoard relaunch and some web pages freezing up momentarily, I’ve had none of the issues others are reporting here. Hopefully we’ll continue to see more of the same.

It's certainly a nice break from the bug ridden iOS 13.

It probably wont happen before final release. The default app setting requires an app update of the browser / mail app & Apples approval.

I‘m not even sure if a testflight beta can flag the app as a default browser / mail app. Probably has to wait for the full release and final app updates.

Absolutely! I’d suggest holding on to the iOS 14 b1 .ipsw file in case of any issues. I’ve been able to go back to a previous beta before because of issues. I’d assume this go around won’t be any different.

It is possible some devs will open up a TestFlight build for people, too. Last summer I was able to get in on some TestFlight builds for a few apps I use more than most. Not only was I able to provide some needed support, but I was able to use a few new features.
