Same with me… ran super hot and killed my 13 pro max in about 4 hours (I’ve never had it below 50% until today lol).

I downgraded back to 15.0.1 release version and back to normal.

It runs hot even with the screen turned off. And everything closed. It started the moment I installed beta 3.

If that’s the case, to save the condition of my battery, I would downgrade potentially or your wreck your phone with that constant heat.

finder + alt + IPSW b2 back on. See if that does the trick. If not you’ll have to restore b2 back on.

I’m currently downloading beta 2 to revert back. I really appreciate the help so far. I also submitted a feedback about it.

once you get B2 back on. I’d be tempted to finder +alt+ check for update button + IPSW B3 onto your phone that way, see if that fixes the heat issue.

If it doesn’t, just go back again same process to B2.

holding alt+check for update button is a lovely quick way to upgrade or downgrade without a full restore.

so I’d try IPSW 15.1b3 that way, if you didn’t before… see what results that gives. If you still get heat, go back and stay on b2, till b4.

I upgraded ota. I’m taking my kids to school right now. I’ll try ipsw when I get home. I’ve never had any problems ota before, but I know there is always that chance. I really appreciate the help.

Another thing I noticed. I got off of work about 1am. Plugged in my device and went to bed. When I woke up. My battery was still charging and at 55%. I went to bed at 79%.

Preserve Settings>Camera Mode hasn’t worked since iOS 12.XX and still doesn’t. Reported multiple times. All show as still open with no comment. All the other camera preserve settings seen to work.

be really interested to hear if there’s any correlation between OTA and IPSW updating process, and your heat issue goes away using the IPSW version of updating. Keep us posted. 👍🏼

I will definitely keep you posted. Since the very second my phone restarted after installing beta 2 it to it has been cold to the touch no matter what app I use. I am driving home from taking my kids to school and as soon as I get home I’m going to hook my iPhone up to my computer and upgrade to beta three again. I’ll keep you updated.
I have also submitted feedback to Apple regarding the issue.

Are you sure?
I just tried to update using the correct IPSW file in Itunes and it would just return an error message after extracting the file!
So to clarify, I already updated to 15.1 Beta 3 OTA last night and now trying to do the update again using the IPSW file without restoring my phone.

The best way to up date is connecting it to iTunes and letting it update that way correct? Or would it be better to update it using an actual download it IPSW

finder+alt+check for update button+navigate to your IPSW.

I know this works with the above method, because last night in fact, I installed b2 again on my phone, because I didn’t select the B3 IPSW by mistake. 😆😂

B2 went back on again fine. And now I’m running B3.

if your getting a errors, I haven’t had any, I’d restart your phone and computer and try again.

LAST TIME…

I think, we’ll proved for my 12, a restore selecting the IPSW your on, fixed my iPhone storage glitch. I don’t think it’s a bug, just some glitch from a poor OTA update earlier on before the ios 15 RC. How I differentiate between “glitch” and “bug” in my own head, is a glitch is a bad update something we can fix locally. A bug is something we can’t fix, something in the code and needs an apple beta/update. Restoring from your selected IPSW holding alt down first so you can select it, fixed the storage glitch on my 12 and using IPSW in general since the RC I’ve dramatically seen less bugs mentioned from this forum - like App Store.

I have a feeling a software update won’t fix it as it’s probably not on Apples radar when they know a restore fixes the issue. You’ll need to reinstall the iOS and do a full restore - even when I used finder + IPSW to install official iOS 15, iPhone storage was still screwed.

Download the IPSW your on and hold alt when you click on the restore button… select your IPSW. Obvs full back up first to your machine.

The restore must recalibrate the phone storage calculations.

👍🏼
Thanks, I will have to try this, downloading IPSW file already
