Not sure if mentioned but I’m getting absolutely sick of safari reloading and losing the ability to press the back button. I have to go to history to go back a page, it’s very annoying and only started with 15.4.

I expected better on the 13 Pro.

Not seeing that. IP12.

Reboot.

Reinstall the beta again via finder IPSW.

If the bugs still present, wait for a fix, if it’s even on Apples radar and an official bug. Could be a long waiting game if it isn’t. But hopefully the above will fix after the reinstall, normally does for me👍🏼

The above was sent to us by Craig F from Apple, as part of testing a hypothesis on the OTA vs IPSW debate.

Hopefully will have more back from him this week. 🤞🏼

Hi, I am enjoying stellar battery life on my 13pm. I've installed 15.4.1, and been on mid-second day with 56% left and with 5 hours and 20 mins of SOT. So definitely better than 15.4 overall.
Tip: crappy instagram was draining my time and battery, so I decided to use the Web version instead.
Tip2: I've also noticed an increase in battery life after indexing was completed. Surprisingly, I didn't know that indexing occurs only while charging,so I left the phone to charge overnight and boom, it finished.
You can check when indexing is completed by trying to use search on the photo app. If indexing is still in progress, it will tell you.
Cheers

Only those that have a significant impact on the battery will be performed while plugged in. It’s not the whole indexing process.

Just a heads up everyone. It did not seem to be heavy but on my end for some reason the weather and news apps were running constantly in the background and actually reporting like 8 hours in the battery usage settings. It seems that a forced restart cleared it up. Can't say I recall seeing that on 15.4.

Yes. Having similar issue. Have reported to Apple. You may want to check out the rest of this thread as others have also reported issues.

You can report this to Apple by typing in "apple feedback://" (no quotes) in your Safari URL bar.

To those of you fighting Error 4000.

The latest iTunes is broken. The 12.12.3.5 from March 9, 2022.

You need to uninstall and download the 12.12.2.2 from October 29, 2021 instead. Then all should work just fine.

Took me several hours to figure that out…
I was meaning to sign up for macrumors forums and you just gave me the push. Thanks for the hard work as this is the version that worked for me to get the ipsw loaded. Re-write OS > OTA delta. Every. time.

Updated my 2018 11” IPP to 15.4.1 today. Took it off the charger at 3:29pm. At 9:34pm - after 6 hours and 5 minutes on standby - the iPad battery charge was down to 98%.

Phenomenal battery life, especially on a nearly 4 year old device.

I would say that Apple’s work on iPadOS 15 is done.

Tab groups in iPad os 15.4.1 are STILL BUSTED. They crash/reload and the back button disappears Sometimes when clicking links. Also there seems to be memory leaks with safari. It OFTEN reloads tabs after using one or two other apps. And if using safari for too long itll dump recently used apps from memory.

iPad pro 2020 here. Never had this issue before 15.4

I did, my news app was running A LOT. 15.4 is such a mess which is the reason why they didnt push the update to people who have auto update on (hence the recent article about a customer emailing Craig about it ). Looks like maybe no Betas this week either which means 15.4.2 incoming soon!

Nice to know a touch screen phone has touch issues. Six months into ios 15 and it just keeps getting worse. Nice.

Yep , its a tab group bug since 15.4. If you get out of your tab group categories it should work. Not a solution but at least makes it useable. I agree core functionality getting busted like this six months into a release is absolute BS and not sure what the hell is going on at apple. None of the fancy crap matters if core functionality is busted. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

3 hours. ? Fair effort on your behalf.

Hopefully they’re sending you a free iPhone in the mail for your troubles lol.
Seriously this is what we PAY APPLE TO DO. And what the beta process is for. Public betas are so pointless since 95 percent of stuff people report never gets fixed. iOS is slowly becoming a bloated nightmare of just adding features and barely supporting them in favor of adding the next set of new features.

Wow, just looking through the replies sections of today’s updates’ threads on the MR homepage it’s viscerally clear (and darkly hilarious) how impossible it is to ignore or downplay the sorry state of Apple’s software. So many people are nervous and hesitant to update…trust is clearly at some kind of low point, notably even among brand loyalists and enthusiasts.

It seems logical to doubt there is anything seriously worth looking forward to in iOS 16, but I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Sorry to be a doomer alarmist and sorry for the somewhat off-topic observation but the proof is in the pudding—go check the threads if you’d like to see for yourself.
Yep, I get more and more nervous with each update since iOS 13. Always fixing one bug and creating two more. Whats gonna happen is apple will release some feature that everyone gets super excited about (this years killer feature might be proper iPad display support or floating widows)….then they delay it after release while more bugs pile up with stuff still not fixed from iOS 14 or 15. Eventually there will be a breaking point like there was with iOS 9 and 12 which had a heavy emphases on fixing stuff. So hopefully that will be iOS 16.

I was praising 15.4 for finally making the 13 Pro feel properly buttery smooth instead of choppy, only for that to be immediately taken away with 15.4.1. Back to choppiness.

I'm force-restoring to 15.4 while they're still signing it.

Does anyone get weird lockups where you can't move to the widget page or App Library? It seems to happen every once a while, really random.
