- Multi-user support for iPadOS
- XCode for iPadOS or support for basic IDEs
- RCS support for Messages
- iMessage group typing indicators
- Adopt design cues of macOS Big Sur (e.g. icons)
- Mail app overhaul
- Merge Find My functionality into Apple Maps
- Roll out that Maps review & photos system to get rid of the crapshot POI providers or Maps continues to be doa for me
- Health & Activity app on iPadOS (as a pure viewing app using iCloud data)
- Calculator app on iPadOS
- Weather app on iPadOS
- More default app options: Messages / Texting (including SMS APIs), Maps, Calendar, Camera. I don‘t think Music makes any sense as a default app option, there‘s no real deeplinking to play songs and your device remembers which app last played anyways...
- Love / Dislike options for the TV app (also 5 star ratings?) and the return of content reviews for TV/Movie. I want to tweak my Watch Now screen and not have suggestions based on watched movies I might not even like...
- Anything HomeKit related (performance & reliability)... maybe even a more in-depth profile system for Home users (e.g. allow guest profiles with limited & timed access, admin profiles and normal user profiles etc.)
- Anything Siri related that focuses on reliability. Don‘t add more domains if your base is rotten...
- I‘d love new Photos app social features. Maybe an easier way to share pictures with your family, like a „Family Feed“ you can post pictures to and have friends comment, like and optionally download pictures to their library. My parents love the shared albums but they seem to struggle with the concept behind it (e.g. set it up and share via Messages... meanwhile they have no issues posting something on Instagram)
- Smart caller photos based on the People album in Photos. Have caller Ids automatically pick a photo from the contacts Photo album entry if no photo is added to the contact
- FaceID/TouchID locking for apps on a system level
- FaceID/TouchID authentication for the hidden & deleted photos albums
- Allow widget resizing without removing and re-adding a widget
- Integrate TestFlight options directly into an apps App Store page (if public beta and desired by a developer)
- Finally roll out News app in more territories...
- Offer some Apple Card UI goodies for other Apple Pay cards in the wallet app, allow more in-depth integration for 3rd party cards in general
- Allow editing the 2 lock screen buttons (why is there a camera button and a swipe gesture for camera?)
- Lock screen complications (e.g. a small weather / temperature indicator)
- HomePod voice recognition for other languages
Someone’s phishing for disappointments.

I would like the ability to manage groups in the Contacts app. Not just toggling group visibility on and off as it is today
and for that matter, the ability to assign a new contact to a particular sync source. We already can do that with new Calendar entries; many people need separate work and personal contacts lists.

the ability to clean out all those apps I no longer use, but still see in my hidden list of apps.

How usable do you guys think will iOS 15 beta 1 be?

Apple is never going to release anything that has many significant real world issues. Most of the stuff you see here are annoyances at worst.

But there can be issues. During iOS 13 for example my GPS did not work for most of the first 4 or 5 betas. That meant Maps didn’t work. I muddled through but it was a pain.

Key thing: create that archived backup before you install the early versions of iOS 15. Then you have something to go “home” to if there is a deal breaker.

I have an iPhone specifically for testing, so I will generally install the beta 1 on that device. I don't think I've ever installed the newest iOS version on my "daily driver" before about beta 3... but if you have a good backup of iOS 14.x, and archive it so that it doesn't get overwritten by the iOS 15 image, you can always go back to that, with some caveats (messages, gameplay, etc).

Yes, my original A9 iPhone SE and our A9 iPhone 6s will get dropped. I had considered selling them on Orchard, but they're not offering much for those so I just kept them as backups/kids' phones.

We will also lose support for our A8X iPad Air 2s, but that's fine too, given how old they are.

As long as our A10 iPhone 7 Plus gets supported, I'll be happy. I've always been curious about the A10 iPhone 7 though, since it only has 2 GB RAM. I think it will also get updated but I always thought it was interesting that the 7 got 2 GB RAM and the 7 Plus got 3 GB RAM, and that carried on to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which really surprised me. I had assumed the iPhone 8 would get 3 GB RAM.

OTOH, what about the 2 GB A10 iPads? My wife has the 2019 3 GB A10 iPad 7, which will get support. The 2017 2 GB A9 iPad 5 will likely get dropped this year, and I suspect the 2018 2 GB A10 iPad 6 will get dropped next year.

So, for last supported OSes:

2 GB A9 iPhone SE - iOS 14
2 GB A9 iPhone 6s - iOS 14
2 GB A10 iPhone 7 - iOS 15 or 16?
3 GB A10 iPhone 7 Plus - iOS 15 or 16?
2 GB A11 iPhone 8 - iOS 16?
3 GB A11 iPhone 8 - iOS 16?

2 GB A8X iPad Air 2 - iOS 14
2 GB A9 iPad 5 - iOS 14
2 GB A10 iPad 6 - iOS 15 or 16?
3 GB A10 iPad 7 - iOS 16 or 17?

BTW, I refused to buy the iPad Air and iPhone 6 / 6 Plus because they only had 1 GB RAM. I'm glad I waited the extra year.

The Mail app is well overdue a radical overhaul; Microsoft's Outlook leapfrogged it eons ago. Also, if the FaceID hardware can do optical tracking, give me a subtle zoom depending on where I'm looking at the screen.

I‘m not saying Apple Mail app is great, but I’m forced to use Outlook on Windows 10 with a client provided laptop and I think the UX sucks.

My credit union app has continued to function properly on all beta releases over the past 4-5 years...
In the UK it is traditional for Barclays, Barclaycard, Lloyds, Halifax and Santander to not function on early betas of a major iOS release (11.0, 12.0, 13.0 etc)

Interesting... I have an American Airlines branded card through Barclays and if I remember correctly, that Barclays app has functioned properly... so guess it varies from place to place.

Barclaycard was actually fine with iOS 14.0 beta.

iOS 14 was pretty good. I think that‘s when they started to push out modular beta builds that allows them to disable certain systems (that aren‘t ready yet) that‘d otherwise cause issues / bugs.

This. I‘m 100% Apple main on my Apple devices, including Mail. There are so many QoL improvements they could make (like granular remote image loading that only filters out „dangerous“ remote content like pixels/gifs but keeps „safe“ media) and also major changes to the app (redesign, smart office features etc).
I really hope one day they make Mail more business class… tightly followed by a revamped Calendar app. I don‘t see it happening in iOS 15 though.

Do you think the public beta will be on the 7th or later?
If history holds, the developer preview will be released Monday or Tuesday of WWDC (06/07 or 06/08)... the public beta is typically a week or so later... and in some years, there was no dev preview 1 equivalent released for the public beta -- the public beta didn't start until dev preview 2.

I guess we'll have to wait to know for sure ... but I feel pretty certain that there will be no public beta until at least 06/14.

I would like to see...

1) Multi-user ability
2) Ability to switch between users like you can on the Apple TV
3) Ability to backup over cellular
4) Ability to backup the watch separately
5) Ability to pair the watch with iPhone or iPad
6) Natural language ability with stock Calendar and Reminders apps

Okay, thank you
