Well that new Apple Wallet bank linking feature works with Lloyds bank but to be honest it’s not very useful as you have to fully open the Wallet app to see the data and at that point you may as well just open the banks own app. It doesn’t show when you double tap to pay which is a good thing as you don’t want to accidentally show the person behind you in the queue how much money you have when trying to pay.

I guess it may be useful if you have multiple current accounts in Apple Pay but even then that is not very useful as at least with Lloyds (other banks may vary) you can use the same protocol to show balances and transactions from other providers accounts in their banking app.

The one place this feature would be the most useful to the point of it being a total game changer would be on the Apple Watch, I’ve long wished for the bank to provide a small Apple Watch app to check the balance on my Watch before using Apple Pay. For me 95% of my Apple Pay transactions are via the watch and this would save me getting out my phone in public to check the bank balance before a purchase. I have suggested to Apple via the feedback app that this be added to the watch as it would be especially useful for those who have cellular Apple Watches and often leave other devices at home.

I think that there are 3rd party money management apps that can use the open banking thing too to show your balance details. Maybe one of them has a watch app too.

Also check the shortcuts app, maybe there is one to retrieve the balance from a wallet card.

Did anybody get a screenshot of the popup that it shows on now playing screen about the new favorites feature?

I’ve once reported here and in the feedback app that I always lose the connection to the internet and that only a soft reset helps. Nothing else. Now I’ve got an answer that they have made changes in the latest beta. But I’m not sure if I really want to download the latest beta.

It's been several betas and RC release and wireless CarPlay Siri read text messages or responses are super low volume. The first message or two is read in normal volume but after that it's so low it's barely audible unless the volume is turned all the way up. Anyone else experience this? And find a fix? Hardwired doesn't help.

Not the same mechanism I know but my Amex card in my Wallet has showed transactions (not the overall balance) for at least a couple of years now and I can get to those via the double-tap(double-press) side button Wallet activation. When I double-press wallet shows me the "Hold near reader" prompt at the top of the screen and the picture of my Amex card below that. If I then tap once on the Amex picture at first glance not much has changed until I look at the bottom of the screen where there is extra content that can be scrolled to get to the info and transactions related to the card. If I was designing this new bank-linking feature I'd use that as a way to get to the extra bank-linking info via wallet when activated from the side-button double-press so I just wanted to check that isn't how it is implemented and you might not have tried a single-tap on the card icon when it is in "Hold near reader" mode.

I 100% agree with you on the bank providing Watch apps to see balances. If it's any comfort then at least Lloyds have treated you more humanely than NatWest treated me by never offering you such an app. NatWest did once have a Watch app but snatched it away again when they discontinued it which was very disappointing. Uber is another example of a developer discontinuing its Watch app. The Apple Watch third party app situation really does feel like a one step forwards then one step backwards situation sometimes.

There’s also an issue with search not returning all or older results on iPhone 15 in Messages. Some troubleshooting I’ve done were to turn off all Siri and Search for Messages, power off, power on, and re-enabled them. I also tried to disable iCloud Message sync and enable it again. Anyone experience this?
I saw the post in the iOS 16 forum and thought it was similar to an issue I previously had but it probaby isn’t.

I guess I am lucky in that I only keep messages for 30 days. I don’t need them past that. ( it annoys my fiancé greatly that I won’t keep messages longer cause she’ll ask me about something and say “ I sent it to you… never mind..🤬”)

🤣

Thank you, I didn’t know that.
They also state that optimized charging is designed to work primarily where you are most, I.e. home, work, etc., and that if it isn’t working properly, make sure that significant locations is turned ON. (I won’t be doing that.)

Does StandBy make it though the night? 14Pro, 17.0.2 - my phone is back to its Lock Screen (sometimes in portrait mode) half-way through the night.

Yep, same with me. At times if I just slightly move the MagSafe stand it reverts to the Lock Screen.

It should do. I used it on my iPhone 11 while in a hotel for a couple of nights, and it made it through 7-8 hours each night.

I don't have a wireless charger though; I plug it into a 5W lightning cable and had to tap the bedside table to get the display to come on.

Thanks. So it appears that the favorites playlist itself is not yet available and choosing Play Favorite Songs by haptic touching Music app icon doesn't do anything besides opening the Music app.

I'm not sure if this is on Google or iOS 17, but when I'm actively navigating with Google Maps using the phone, the screen doesn't remain on the entire time. Before iOS 17, the screen has remained on at least until I reach my destination. Perhaps the app needs an update.

I updated to 17.1 hoping it would (at least slightly) fix pathetic battery life on my 13PM but nope, nothing at all.
I unplugged the phone at 6am, it's 7pm and I'm at 22% left BUT I recharged the phone twice to around 40% and SOT is right now at 3h57m 😍

What I found out is that the phone gets slightly warmer than on 17.0, it's not hot like the 15 Pro reports but definitely noticeable.

I have also encountered one bug - notifications from iMessage sometimes are not showing contact pictures.

Except that I'm not seeing any difference in terms of the performance, it's as good as 17.0.

Anyone knows if someone was able to "extract" the new ringtones (possibly from the ipsw if that is even something possible nowadays) and posted them somewhere?
Here are all the Ringtones in 17.0.2.

FYI, the IPSW is a compressed file and I use BetterZip to uncompress it. Once uncompressed there's a bunch of DMG's but the largest size one is the one that contains all the system files. Mount this DMG and the Ringtones are located in: /Library/Ringtones

17.1 is a beta?!?… how were you thinking/expecting a beta would have better battery life? It’s unfinished software.

If things are “pathetic” I’d do a restore back onto the beta. You can find a guide on page one up top.

Good skills 👍🏼

I noticed they have removed the mute function for the back tapping. The option no longer exists to mute/unmute device by double tapping the back. This defeats the purpose for me. I would have expected to use the action button for something like camera and double tap the back to mute/unmute device. So if I want to mute the device I have to set the action button to silent mode.

I agree with your thoughts. The Action button should be “mute/unmute + something else” not either / or.

E.g., Click once to toggle mute. Long press to trigger an action.

Exactly, why is Apple limiting its capability? Or is that reserved for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Maxes :)

Yeah, I mentioned how I did see that.

Currently, on 15 models, you cannot downgrade to 17.0.2 at all. It doesn’t work with DFU mode, it doesn’t work with Recovery mode, and it doesn’t work with a standard manual update/restore.

It’s affecting PCs, Macs, and even Macs running the most recent Sonoma beta.

Well probably have to wait until beta 2 or potentially beyond before 15s on 17.1 can be downgraded to a stable release.

Anyone having issues with app notifications?! I have apps that have not asked me if I want to allow notifications on my 15 PM and I have no way to enable them.
Yes, same here. We got all new phones for the family (Four 15PM's), and they all have notification issues. I also upgraded my 14PM and I'm having the same issues with that phone too. Some things I noticed after doing restores on all the phones:
- I'm getting error 1669 on all four 15PM's when I attempt a DFU restore. I've tried on a 2021 M1 iMac running Ventura 13.6, a 15" M2 macbook air (Ventura 13.6). I'm on 17.02 on all phones.
- Also upgraded the imac to Sonoma and still getting error 1669 on all 15PM's.
- I'm not getting any haptic notifications for texts/messages when I disable banners for all four 15PM's. This bug is weird though, over time the phones initially act the same, but then start acting differently. Like one phone will only vibrate when unlocked, and the other just stay silent until I unlock them, and then the notifications come in (with haptic feedback). But even when the haptic feedback is restored, it stops working after several minutes.
- To your original point Donga120, when I go into settings/notifications, lots of apps including built-in apps aren't listed, so there is no way to enable notifications for apps. Reminders app does not show up in my notification settings.

I've met with a three apple genius people in the store to attempt a clean firmware install. But alarmingly, the first two geniuses didn't know the difference between a standard restore and a DFU restore. Only the senior genius person knew what a DFU restore was. So we tried it but got the same error 1669. The senior genius escalated and asked me to call apple support with a repair number - he told me they wanted to get the logs off my macs so they could analyze the issue. So I called and spoke to two more people with apple support, both of whom attempted to walk me through all the steps again. Both didn't know what DFU was either. So I'm not sure what to do at this point except wait for more updates.
