Since first getting a phone with the Dynamic Island when it originally appeared I’ve never been able to swipe down over it to pull down the Lock Screen/Notification Center. I have always swiped down over the time display to the left of the DI. That always works.

See, that's the thing-- Apple certainly intends for users to still be able to swipe down above dynamic island, at least according to their support docs:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2...ows your notifications, the top of your screen.

"

Open from Notification Center

Notification Center shows your notifications history, allowing you to scroll back and see what you've missed. There are two ways to see your alerts from the Notification Center:
  • From the Lock Screen, swipe up from the middle of the screen.
  • From any other screen, swipe down from the center of the top of your screen.
To clear your notification history, tap the Close button

, then tap Clear."

Regardless of what they intended, reality shows it has never worked. They also ”intended” for WiFi syncing between a phone/ipad to a computer to work. That’s why I always have a cable at hand to sync and backup those devices. However that feature does actually work, sometimes; my cable will stay right where it is, and my finger will always swipe down over the time display which, again, always works.

I cant replicate on mine
To replicate, you have to swipe down over and over again varying your start position so that you happen to hit that specific spot where it doesn't work.

I made a video showing the behavior (first showing where it works, then showing where it doesn't work):

Swiping offset to the right slightly works, swiping exactly in the center works, but as you move left, it starts to glitch out (around :16 seconds)

Dynamic island looks different when I make a tap-to-pay purchase. Now it's taller, and I see awhole tiny image of my card. I think that's new. I like it

already updated my iPhone to DB3 .. let me try restart my watch

p/s: I also force restarted my iPhone .. gained 2% battery (82% > 84%)

I wonder if the "battery drain" is due to inaccurate battery calibration and how to fix this problem
Believe I’m seeing positive improvement on my iPhone with respect to battery life since DB3 and restarting my Apple Watch (running 10.0.2) yesterday afternoon.

Works all the way along my phone up till the right corner when control centre pops down.

If I don’t start with my finger off the phone and drag it down onto the screen, it doesn’t work (meaning, my fingers touching the frame first) So maybe the screens got to register your finger pressing the screen right from the edge near the frame.

The X button clears all my notifications too.

So basically it’s working as described by Apple on my iPhone 14Pro.

Weird also, I’ve not known WiFi sync not to work. 🤷🏽

Works fine on my iPhone 14Pro.

However if you have a case on that’s covering the bezel where Dynamic Island is I get the dead spot. Removing the case it works properly. Left of the Dynamic Island notifications work properly with case on

Those are rather specific steps to duplicate the issue.

I updated my 15 Pro Max to 17.1 Beta 3 and now the screen doesn't respond to touch. I'm stuck on the lock screen. Can't put in my passcode, swipe up, or anything. The phone isn't frozen tho, I can still raise to wake and use the action button to put it in and out of silent mode.

I plugged the phone into my mac and it says it's stuck in DFU mode. What????

It's not letting me restore lol. "The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1669)."

WHYYYYYY

Try a hard reset (volume up, volume down, then keep "power" pressed until the Apple logo shows up). I seriously doubt it's in DFU mode if you can use the action button.

I mean, I can do it rather easily, because that happens to be where I habitually swipe the screen for notifications. But others tend to swipe from their own spots, so not necessarily obvious

Nope. If I touch anywhere, right, left or center, on the DI I get a haptic response and it expands a bit. Most of the time if I swipe down to the right of the DI Control Center appears, the only reliable way to get the Lock Screen to come down is to swipe over the time display. I’ve even tried going between the DI and the time, essentially down over the location arrow icon and nothing happens.

Now having said all that if I do a swipe just right, very quickly, not a drag, but a quick brisk flick, toward the right side of the DI I can get the Lock Screen to come down. I have to focus and do this carefully or it doesn’t work, never has without a lot of attention. So I do it over the time display where no attention is required. It just works, every time.

As mentioned in the other thread on this topic, nice find. Turning Bluetooth off and putting the iPhone in airplane mode allows it to sync quickly and transfer most logs like before iOS 17.
Tried this and the phone still can’t sync With the mac, stuck on step 2. Only shutting down the Apple Watch has worked for me.

A case may be the relevant factor; I’ve never used my phone without a case for more than a day. So I really wouldn’t know what the behavior is like without the case. But swiping down over the time display works each and every time so I really don’t care.

As you can see working my way along the top of the screen till I hit far enough the control centre drops down. All works well on my 14Pro.
