Interesting, yes, I just disabled it but can still access it. And the stuttering is gone.

So what does that setting do, then?

Public Beta keeps saying "1 day" for time remaining, not sure why. I tried restarting but no change (14 Pro Max)

Update: I turned off Wi-Fi, then turned it back on, and it started downloading again. IDK

Another bug i've discovered in RC across multiple devices, is that when you open your Apple ID in Settings, then open Subscriptions, now if you swipe back to the main Apple ID Page where you can scroll down to see all your logged in Devices, you actually cannot swipe all the way down anymore, unless you re-open the Settings app.

Reproduceable on all iOS 17 devices, at least on my end.

Also checked the Notification Pull-down Stuttering/Lag on my 11 Pro, and SE3, and the behaviour is exactly the same.

Swipe one or two pages on the home screen, then pull down the notification center, and there it stutters.

Not as bad as on my 14 Pro, of course, (due to being 60Hz phones), but the stuttering is very noticeable when the Search function is enabled on all of them still.

Is there a way to get standby mode to actually stay on? It's not very useful the way it is because it goes out after a few seconds. I was really looking forward to this too.

This is on an 11 Pro Max.

Needs an Always-on-Display. I believe that means iPhone 14 & 15 pro models only. As you say, it's not much use without that, so after playing with it for a bit I doubt I'll be using it much (iPhone 11)

That's pretty lame; I mean the phone is plugged in? There's no need to be power efficient.

It really smells like Apple is using this to sell newer iPhones. I was already going to upgrade this year so this will then be solved soon but it feels slimy.

I’m at work and didn’t read through this whole thread (skimmed a few pages) so I’m sorry if I missed it. I toggled developer beta off a week and a half ago. I don’t see any available updates. will I not get it for awhile or is it just not showing yet? Still on 17 but I can’t remember which version I’m on since I turned everything off - it was tanking my battery health and life more than I was comfortable with so I toggled off (which helped substantially) But I was Probably developer 7 If I were to guess. so kinda wondering when I’ll get the RC. Thanks guys!!

With beta turned off, you won't get "RC". The RC (release candidate) is part of the beta program, and if you aren't doing beta releases, you won't get it. The GA (general availability) release of iOS 17 will be out sometime on Sep 18... that will be the next release you can get, and it will be the full, production version of iOS 17.

Toggle dev beta back on for updates. You’ll get the RC!

Awesome thanks guys! Is that the best way to go? I want to get off the betas and just get the public releases moving forward

Did you restore your phone or are you still on the beta release? (Settings > General > About and then tap on iOS Version to get the build number)... at this point it probably doesn't matter... not doing anything until iOS 17 drops on Monday would probably be best at this point since you've already turned betas off... and it's less than a week away for the GA version.

How is this any different than any other aspect of Always On Displays? That was the point of introducing AOD. No screen burn-in etc.

I’m still on the beta. I can check to see which version again when I get back to my phone but you’re right prob doesn’t matter at this point :) like I said toggling off betas and just letting it sit helped my issues immediately. I’ll just wait for the GA

I didn't think LCD screens (like my iPhone 11) got burn-in. I assumed it wasn't available due to battery usage (so it needed that variable refresh rate gismo to reduce power usage), but when plugged in, I see no issue with it.

Haven't read through everything yet - will do as the day goes on.

13 ProMax - loaded via ipsw

So far things look good. Nothing glaring.

Started checking things I use:
Weather - Radar - when I open, after a few seconds the time play/pause bar at the bottom fades. Only way I can get it back it to click "map data" and go back to the radar screen. As longs as it is running it shows. Pause and it vanishes.
iCloud Mail and photos - still compresses the compressed on send.
Hardware - Battery - placing it on the wireless charger and it gets hotter than normal even if already at 100%.
AirPods Pro2 - had to forget and reconnect to get them to work.
Spell Check - still horrid as usual. Seems to get better then - Womp! - messes things up again.
