Is anyone seeing that the ‘phone’ app is using a ridiculous amount of storage space? Mines showing as 2.22gb with no way to offloads or reduce the data. Not sure what’s causing it to be such a large size. Any suggestions?

Video

Have not defined a specific type of video yet however I am seeing "randomly" the phone gets very hot right at the volume buttons and on the back in the same are. Measuring this I get from 96F to 105F in a 75F room. This is just watching video - YouTube, Rumble, Photos, etc...

A good/bad point is that with these updates on the 13PM and AW Ultra I am getting many of my notifications coming through from the iPhone. The bad is that the battery on my AWU is taking a big hit. Normal use as just an AW I usually have 60-70 percent battery left. Now I am seeing right around 40 percent after a day..

Updated last night to iOS17 and now have a cellular error that says I can't connect to cellular without running an update. I have reset network settings, toggled airplane mode, restarted the phone. My only resolution left is erase and redo the phone but I get an error that says if I do, I won't be able to activate because I first need to run a carrier update. What in the literal hell is happening. Any help is appreciated.

Also killed the cellular on my watch as well.

on my 13 pro the iOS 17 download is loading, installing, phone reboots (after which I enter passcode and sim pin) but when checking the software version still shows iOS 16.6.1, and I am offered to update again... tried it 2 times now.. Any clue anyone?

Assuming you are doing an OTA update you might look at doing a manual install.
Instructions are in post #1.

When it comes to the way the system allocated resources for itself, I would think it's best that the OS handles how this flexes.. we just don't have access to the way that works as we do with a Mac

Go to Settings > Cellular. Maybe it's looking for a carrier update first?

I know Verizon just had one yesterday.

I had a few custom tones for specific contacts and they were the same whether a call or text. :(
The tones for contacts are still there. It looks like they are still working for the ⏰. Just tested and my coucou clock tone still is working ..

The new alert tones are awful. The sound is so low .. and they are even worse on iPad.

There's something weird going on with iOS 17 when it comes to used space by apps. There were few people (myself included) that had problems with apps using more space than on iOS 16. For example, in my case instagram went from around 2gb to 5 and overall available space went down from around 50gb on iOS 16 to 20-30 on iOS 17.
The weirdest thing is that for me the available space constantly changes. Yesterday I had 25gb left, right now it's at 21 even though I didn't take any pictures or whatever. Well, actually I deleted some so 🤷‍♂️

We’re here all year!
haha, true

I usually hop onto beta just before major release, only.. too many issues other times of the year, yet not enough benefit. And any software houses, nearly all of them, will offer zero support for problems if one is running beta OS software

Once the first .1 releases for Mac, I'll wipe entirely and start fresh. Once the new phone arrives Friday, I'll start over (I never restore from backups, don't want residual issues) for mobile. I've already turned off beta updates for watchOS and Apple TV and iPadOS..

Who knows, I may hop back on like a rebel! Just glad the Jailbreak does are long over, that was quite the juggle..

Print - HP Smart

As of this latest iteration of iOS 17, neither my iPhone nor iPad can see my HP printer,
All the rest of my devices including MBP and Android can see this on the network.

Hoping it is just an app update issue.

I can see and use my HP Color Laserjet in both the HP Smart app and in the share sheet for printing on my iPhone, iPad.

Is it just me, or is the actual time when a timer should end, gone? Probably has to do with the new multiple timers.

For example, if it’s 2:00, and I set a timer for 30 minutes, I like how it would tell me that the timer would go off at 2:30.

It doesn’t seem to do that now.

Anyone else?

I can see when a timer ends if I tap on it in the app.

I can see the printer in the apps and use it (MS Office and Acrobat / Readdle) but not in the HP Smart app.
Color Laserjet is a good printer ;)

I think your instinct that this is an HP app issue is the correct one
