Can't wait for 17.4 so all of these side loading questions can be answered... Will it be limited to EU? Are the reports true that Apple will still review each app and charge for it? <----- Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of this regulation? How will this be implemented......... A .4 release is usually pretty boring but this time around its exciting. Cant wait!
Yeah seems to me the sideloading won’t really need a separate App Store since apple is allowing apps not in their store (sorta the whole point) but we will see.

It’s out, I’m not in EU, so gonna wait a bit for this one. Too many things maybe to bugger up my phone.

Well, at least iOS 17.4 public release date is pretty much set before 6 March, so most likely on Monday, 4 March.

I hope so, let's see...
This seeding so far looks aligned to seeding related to the app store changes
  • Xcode 15.3 beta (15E5178i) - January 25, 2024
  • iOS 17.4 beta (21E5184i) - January 25, 2024
  • iPadOS 17.4 beta (21E5184i) - January 25, 2024
  • tvOS 17.4 beta (21L5195h) -January 25, 2024
Watch, and MacOS as said could drop later today. (in 2 hours)

The previous iOS xx.4
16.4 = 52 days
15.4 = 63 days
14.4 = 90 days
13.4 = 57 days
Wait for second beta is 12/12/14/14 days (recent to oldest)

52 days = March 17 which is a Sunday, so maybe the 18th?

ios 16.4 dropped on March 27th. Seems like the EU will get the deadline pushed back a couple of weeks for this one to release on 3/18 or so

I guess they will have to fast-track iOS 17.4 development as the DMA provisions come into force on 6 March?

Developers can get started with these options in the beta release of Xcode 15.3 and iOS 17.4 starting today. The changes will become available to users in the 27 EU member countries beginning in March 2024.

That is not specifying a day. Middle of March should be acceptable.

And this is from an earlier MR article:

“The deadline for Apple to comply with the DMA is March 7, so the company has just over seven weeks to enact the changes.”

That’s plenty of time especially given the lack of other new features.
