Well… it’s just a countdown. Nothing more to it. I think we are all just excited and cannot wait.

What else are we supposed to do until tomorrow? Unless you have early access to iOS 17 beta 1? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤯

Let's hope the keynote will be interesting. To be honest, the past 2 years, especially the 2021, was a bit painful to watch – I was trying hard to stay awake. I want to see the watchOS changes – although I don't really use much of the apps on the watch, still, I'm curious what direction they will take with the design. Also excited about potential Apple Music and Safari changes, as these are the two apps I use most of the time.

While not particularly interested in VR, as a product software engineer, I am curious what the xrOS looks like, what design language it uses, etc. It will be also interested to see if some design decisions made for xrOS were carried over to iOS/macOS.

When it comes to macOS, I don't expect much, unfortunately. Big Sur was an amazing release, in my opinion, but Monterey and Ventura have been quite unexciting. Stage Manager still looks like a gimmick to me, I haven't managed to incorporate it into my daily workflows.

I really want Apple to bring back Dynamic Wallpapers for the iOS and iPad OS.

Stage manager definitely has some potential as alternative to Spaces…but only if they give you the ability to create named stages with persistent windowing. Then make those addressable by Shortcuts and AppleScript and you’ve just put Moom and Bunch out of business (not that I want that to happen…)

I think we see those changes.

The keynote is aimed at a mass audience and gives broad overview of the changes. The state of the union gets more into details and the individual WWDC sessions are where they really get into the nuts and bolts.

I felt exactly the same way. The most exciting thing for me the last couple years was the Stage Manager and external display support for the iPad. As an iPad-first user, I even upgraded my 2020 iPad Pro to the M1 at some point during the Summer for the feature - also got a good deal on it, so I was glad the M2 iPad Pro wasn’t a huge improvement. Fortunately almost a year later, I’m not disappointed nor regret the decision, but I do wish to see some improvements to it. (My fiancé was also pretty happy to inherit my old 2020 iPad Pro)

As far as the Mac and iPhone go, both are already pretty mature products. It’s hard to imagine what they can add to either that I could be excited about. I know watchOS 10 is rumored to be a substantial update, curious to see what will change there. And it’s hard to be excited about the headset knowing it’ll cost so much. If its anything like the Meta Quest, I know I’ll probably be bored with it faster than I can justify the amount of money I put into it.

But, I suppose it’s up to Apple to let us know what we need to be excited about. I’m hoping tomorrow’s WWDC keynote will be one of the memorable ones.

its going to get a lot more tiring in the near future. Better have a lot of monitors in use. :D

To be honest if there is anything more tiring it's the many articles out there all referencing quotes from Mark Gurman as what the WWDC itinerary might be. So yes this years keynote is more secretive than ever.

Reference this quote from him today:
On Monday, the company hopes to do it all over again — this time with its first mixed-reality headset. While no product will ever live up to the iPhone, the headset has the potential to usher in a new era: It could kick off the shift to a different interface that upends how people work, play games and entertain themselves.

I think most out there are missing the obvious, its not about this mystical device its about how Apple will use IOS 17 and IPadOS 17 to utilize AR to allow us to do more with the way we work with online information sources. Several years we has people working with incorporating AR into apps and now we are about to see it go the next step. But somehow everyone got the idea it about the device instead of the software side which is WWDC focus. I certainly hope it plays out like that as much as all the OS's get ignored with these rumors, that is what we all depend on the most and also the basis for this thread. ;)

Perhaps we should expect a bit more then usual because its been so quiet since Jan 17th from Apple. ;)

Other than possible hardware updates, some accessibility changes to IOS 17, Apple really hasn't shown us anything. Yes unlike the wanton desire for a better IPadOS that stage manger barely suffices with a lot of storage/memory usage, there are a lot to say should be done to improve all the OS's. Could start with network file sharing, how many here complain about that? Then there is the obvious application or app redo/updates concerning Mail, Apple TV app and more. I love better diagnostics for the OS's/hardware. If any of us think about it it not like any of these OS's are at their point they couldn't be expanded on, we all had gripes about each OS, and stuff we like about them.

Tomorrow we get to see if people that were stuck at home for most of last year and now back to work can shake off the cobwebs and show us something amazing a year later, I hope so. Any hardware updates or introductions will of course be much appreciated!

I'd like to see some expansion on previously added features. Automatic switching for wallpapers, interactive widgets, or the ability to schedule Live Activities ahead of time.

For me, the biggest thing is interactive widgets.

How Apple have got the brass bollocks to call this current half-arsed iteration widgets is beyond me. They are almost nothing more than big icons.

Obviously the plethora of remaining bugs need to be sorted as well but I am not holding my breath (for reasons I have discussed many times here already so won't bore people with them again).

I never watch or listen to them.

I tend to follow it via posts here. I also expect to be spending a few minutes googling how to get the dev beta when too stingy to pay.

Along with all talk of resets, IPSW, backup, how to restore et cetera et cetera. That would be bloody marvellous

Those posts are at least for the benefit of all of us who will otherwise have to endure endless posts from the unenlightened who install the betas with no planning or idea on how to get back to safety.

The “x time remaining” posts are simply filler and useless. It’s certainly not speculation about the new OS which we know is coming tomorrow.

It’s ok, people, to simply say nothing if you don’t have anything to contribute. We won’t hold it against you.

I’m really hoping for a system similar to the Lock Screen customization system from iOS 16 on iPadOS 17. It should have more options for moving elements since the iPad has a larger screen, and should be able to use more widgets. I think this is very likely going to be one of the new features of iPadOS 17 since it already exists on iOS. But that will be nice for being able to switch wallpapers more readily and easily. This is especially helpful for me because I create some wallpapers that I sell, and being able to switch between them quickly is very helpful. 👍🏻

I don't believe it will stop the endless posts. It never has in the past. People can't be bothered searching, they just stick on their entitled hats and ask the question which may have just been asked literally two posts before. However, you are probably far more optimistic than me

Gotta say though, I'm very much looking forward to the event tomorrow evening (my time).

Or, alternatively, you can just scroll past and ignore them if it bothers you. 🤷🏼‍♂️. Some of us are excited about the event, and have been counting down for a while now. And many of those of us who have posted “one more day posts” or as you’ve conveniently re-phrased it, “x time remaining posts”, have also talked about features we’re hoping for, etc. I’m not sitting here complaining about other people’s posts I don’t particularly care about, I just move on. 🤷🏼‍♂️
